International Proxy Series 2020 Registration And Rules

Recommended Posts

I apoligise for the recent radio silence but this is a very importand week for me as on july 23 its the 2nd anniversary of the 2018 bushfires where 103 people lost their lives in Mati (where our summer home is,we lost some dear friends. For our good luck  our home wasunder heavy repair and could not be inhabited ,i really dont know how i would have reacted if i were there.Next door people perished ,4 of them, while their house remained intact if they had stayed inside they would be with us today, they fled to the sea instead and got trapped 30 meters form the beach). As a member of the citizens coordination local comittee i had lots in my plate.

First of all  my sincere condolences to Rossko for the loss of his father,i i' ve been there and know how it feels, and to Kevan and the IOM slot community for the loss of Mike Dove whom i had met a couple of times at Early Birds,Wolverhamton.

My biggest concern about IPS is postal delays.A small packet  sent to US on june 16 has not arrived yet as another one to Scotland posted on july 4.In the good old days it would have taken 2 weeks and 6 days respectively.Another one posted to UK on june 10 arrived on the29th.This is why i proposed to run as many rounds as possible in Athens then send the cars back.Do not think it is an easy job because people and (me) are very cautious now that the borders opened up and we are geting small but increasing numbers of covid contaminated people from abroad.

Therefore my proposal stands as it is ,run as many rounds as possible localy in, lets say , a couple of months so that entrants can have an idea of where their cars stand and send the cars back.

If someone need their car immediately it is fine with me i will post them  next week (as until the 24th i am very busy as explained).

Your thoughts please

OK, I'd go with that Alexis, there's always IPS 2021, IPS 2022... :)

I think you'll need to post something similar in the other forums too.

Hello Alexis,
Your proposal "Therefore my proposal stands as it is ,run as many rounds as possible localy in, lets say , a couple of months so that entrants can have an idea of where their cars stand and send the cars back. "  seems like the most practical.

BTW -  If the parcel to Scotland was for me, I messaged you on SlotRacer to say that the chassis had arrived.

Leo

Hi Alexis,

Thanks for the update, and appreciate the remarks about the bushfires - something we're also very familiar with down here....

So, as I said back on July 9 - welcome to the GPR, Greek Proxy Race !

Sounds good to me ! Opa !!

Cheers, Tony ( and his Greek wife... )

Cheers,

Tony.

There's only two questions:

1. What direction do you go

2. What's the Lap Record?

As far as the four cars entered from the Isle of Man are concerned I'll get in touch with the owners and get some feedback.

I've asked the other Manx entry owners and we all agree that all the rounds in Greece should go ahead - but if it's possible to add in the Isle of Man round that would be even better, we can even add a time trial on a second track in the club room.

Maybe we set a deadline date, after which this year's event is cancelled and the cars sent home.

It,s now August and let's be realistic here it is going to be very hard to do a meaningful IPS series by the very name it,s international, i,ve said it before and i'll say it again , unfortunatly this year Covid is not going away perhaps it never will there are spikes all over the place and getting worse ,  perhaps the future of the IPS is not great even in 2021 and perhaps we might have to rejig it to concentrate on just one or two countries but that is something that will have to be discussed at some date.

My personal opinion is the IPS will never be run the way it was again, so many problems apart from Covid so perhaps the next few monthe we can put forward an idea of how we can run this sort of proxy race in the future when ever that is, yes send the cars home is the only answer as far as i,m concerned.

Real life gets in the way

Start was scheduled for the week 20-26 july on Nick's track but Nick had to change his holiday dates and left on the 20th of july for 2 weeks.

Second race was scheduled  weekend 8-9 august on Creative Hooby track  but instead we had some unexpected visitors,my daughters family who also had to change their holiday dates as their transfer to Singapore was postoponed due to the covid. We have moved to our summer home and they are staying until the 28 and needless to say ,i prefer my grand daughters ,who i havent seen since january, company to slot carsthumbnail?appId=YMailNorrinLaunch

.So nothing is going to happen this month .We can rediscuss matters at the end of the month or call it a day

Notice the ATCC proxy has been called of and i think it,s dissapointing but a good call with all that's going on , there are so many things we all have to deal with now so calling of the IPS would be the right thing to do as well and just send the cars back , i don't want a refund Alexis stick it in the kitty for next time we race which hopefully will be in 2021, at least we all will have cars ready for it.

Keep safe and look after those we all love and care for.

...and Slot Rally is a great start...probably the best place to start learning throttle control.

We are now dealing with the 3rd wave of the pandemic, in lockdown. This week we broke the 1 million barrier of people that have been vaccinated (out 11 millions total population).Apart from that we had a twin earthquake (main earthquake followed by one of the same magnitude with epicenter on the other end of the same rift) 5.9 magnitude  in central Greece fortunately with no life losses.

If you look at the covid data graph this is actually the 4th wave.  We were covid-free for 7 months in the Isle of Man but 21 day lockdown after Christmas followed by a few weeks of freedom (although my wife & I were in isolation after my wife's hospital treatment), I was back at work 2 days for the first time this year then back into 21 day lockdown again.

I last raced at the club on 17th Dec, the club opened for 2 or 3 weeks but we can't meet again until the end of the month at a minimum.

Hello Curef99,
The UK proxy event scene has picked up a lot and we are getting spoilt for choice. Event format is cars running one ata time so hosts can run the event with minimal assistance.
I launched a new style of event aimed at getting the attention of the Electric Vehicle community but despite slot-cars having been electric vehicles for decades, there has been suprisingly little interest. I called it the "EV Triathlon" as there are three aspects in the event - Rally Stage, Sprint Circuit and Drag Strip - thought that might have grabbed peeps attention as well but seems not.

The Covid mutations seem to outrunning our vaccination roll-out. Personally I am not going to rush into any large people gatherings any time soon.

Hope you and your family have not been seriously affected.

Covid mutations have been going on since the beginning, despite the scaremongering media with the latest and worst-yet 'variant' did you know there's currently 21 thousand variants.
