slotmadmac
We occasionally run caravans (towed behind Carrera Plymouths) to break up the usual club racing roster. It's always a hoot with the caravans fishtailing like mad. I was wondering if others who indulge in this madness put guides in the caravans to stop the radical fishtailing? Anyone out there doing this? Edited September 26, 2019 by slotmadmac Quote Podiums are for short people.
fomoco
I have printed porta loos and found the same problem,so I put a small magnet under the axle,. It won't stop the fish tailing but help reduce it Some thing for my truck trailers scale 20 foot

mtpanorama
Have not run these for a while but when we did the fishtailing was part of the fun and used to hinder overtaking. There was only one rule and that was instant disqualification for driving the car without the caravan if it came off. The SCX Audi 90's do double duty as track cars without the caravans as well. slotmadmac
Thanks for that feedback guys. I am going to put fresh tyres on the caravans tomorrow and put a pin guide in one just to see how it handles. I will remove it later, The local guys are keen on keeping the fishtail action! slotmadmac
With a fresh set of good quality glued and trued tyres the improvement in the caravans is amazing. (the old setup had 80's scalextric tyres that were disintegrating with age) The 'vans run smooth and are very predictable. Fishtailing is all but gone. There is no need for any pins / guides in the 'vans. You can properly race them now. Result! 1 Quote Podiums are for short people.
Sports Racer
We used to run caravans in the demolition derby. Lots of fun but vacuum cleaner was needed after the race. Quote May the downforce be with you.
