The cars arrived today :- )

Have opened the box a carried out a quick check and not found any issues apart from one car having a loose door mirror (have applied superglue to hold it).

In a moment of inspiration I decided to do an "Un-Boxing" video, apologies if you are one of the non-Youtube types. Apologies also to those who do view Youtube as its the first un-boxing video I have ever made.

Over the next few days I will do shakedown runs to check the car performances and then into the first of the stages. Planning at least two stages, hopefully three.

LOL - after it taking 5 hours to upload the video, I cannot find a way to embed the YouTube link so here it is:

Ever watched a Xmas un-wrapping session, when you knew what every present was - but didn't know in what order they'd be un-wrapped?

That was Leo's excellent video......

Really impressed that the field arrived on the other side of the world so efficiently and in great order - the advertising packaging is an inspired idea!

Have fun Leo!

Cheers,

Tony.

There's only two questions:

1. What direction do you go

2. What's the Lap Record?

Have run the cars now in a shakedown session. No big issues found so will progress to Stage 1 in the next few days. Checked #33 and couldn't see any obvious reason for the guide jamming vertically but could feel it.

I ran each car for 3 minutes and straight from cold as it were. This was on my Ninco track and a couple of the cars are running so low that they occasionally rattle on the rails. (Ninco rails sit approx 0.5mm above the track surface.)

WRP 2019 Scotland Stage 1 was run yesterday. This was on a hybrid track made from a combination of Scalextric Sport and Scalextric Start sections. We ran the cars for ten laps each, results are as below. Quite a few "offs" affected some cars, especially where the car inspired the driver to push harder.

Crawford did the driving whilst myself and Peter did the marshalling and admin.

Pictures of the layout are imminent (forgot to resize 'em)

Yo P-G,

Its like the boy-girl thing where the females win by driving slot cars "graciously" and never de-slot, whereas the males push harder and de-slot and lose.

In this age of diversity, I shouldn't promote stereo-typing and I should probably try to find a female driver for the next stage...

Geez Leo!

looks like my guide has been well and truly nobbled

This year my car was set up on a combination of scaley classic and sport , so should have loved it on you track.

Just goes to show how random a proxy event can be.......

I was hoping to leapfrog Monday man into the top half of the field at this event.

Thanks for the updates and photos - really cool...

Exactly, Thanks heaps Leo

If you can Leo, a one or two lap video of a car doing a quickish warm up would be great.

Looks like winter on one side of the track and summer on the other ;) (check the clothing)

Didn't see Mel's request until just now. However, I did make a video of the cars at the top loop of my Carrera outdoor track. Will try to do a decent full lap if the weather is kind in the next few days.

Results for Scotland Stage 2 are below. Have lost the note of how many offs, there were not many.

Should be running Stage 3 in the next few days on my Ninco track.

Good to see that track again Leo.

When set up at home, my test track is a similar shape, although with rally loops each end

So far I'm a hand full of seconds behind Monday man at this point, so I need those on the next stage.

Bring on the Ninco!

We got Stage 3 run yesterday on my Ninco layout. I did the driving this time. 8 laps running The Metros suffered again, sorry chaps but these cars scare me so I either drive too slowly or push to hard and its usually the latter resulting in a de-slot. In the warm-up run for #111 the right rear wheel started to slip. as it did in the shakedown runs here. This track is "right-loaded" as it is mainly left-hand bends and the grippy Ninco surface stresses the driven wheel on the right. I super-glued the wheel on carefully prior to the timed runs and held well. I'm wondering if this has handicapped Peter Gunn's car in previous rounds where the surface was more smooth and the issue didn't show as much.

Results and a couple of overview shots below and individual shots to follow. I'm planning a fourth stage now running in the reverse direction before sending the cars away next week.

Thanks Leo for the repair much appreciated , have found the scaley wheels are prone to break, slip , be wonky , remember last year with Gas 41T car breaking a hub think on the penultimate round , i have already used 2 spare sets on that car and those are brand new at the start of the season, thanks for running the round , hope the repair holds out . :)

The fourth and final stage of Rally Scotland has now been completed and results are below. Big thanks to our sponsor, MJK Engineering (Tyres) who supply the tyres for the event. These tyres have excellent grip on all the variety of surfaces involved and are durable enough to survive at least two years running.

This stage was run on my Ninco track but in the reverse direction from normal.

Congratulations to all competitors and thank you for entering. Big thank you to my co-hosts Peter and Crawford for helping out.
