lenny broke
Hi All, Well today has been a bit busy and I got onto the test run a bit later than I would have liked. I checked over the cars first up and only had to attend to two cars #9 Phil K's Lotus which had a loose windscreen which I fixed with a drop of canopy glue. #47 Terry's BRM which had a loose rear wheel. The grub screw wouldn't tighten up sufficiently so I replaced it. the wheel now feels tight on the axle. On to the test run and I have to say that in general the quality of the cars has again improved with no real lemons in the field. A few lack some speed but none are difficult to get around the track. The run was done in reverse numerical order as that is how RC seeded the cars for the run. I set my controller to fairly mild settings so they all got a fairly gentle run. All cars run on green lane. Qualifying will be run tomorrow afternoon with me doing the driving on green lane with results posted in the early evening. Terry
Thanks for the feedback Alan, seems that I will need to be ultra diligent with those wheels! I do have a tendency to over tighten the wheels, with disastrous results in stripping threads and damaging the allen key wrench, Good luck to all on race day Edited June 27, 2019 by terry
Stubbo
Thanks Alan. #41 is running a S1Q chassis. Quote Alan Stubbings
lenny broke
Howdy Chaps, Qualifying has been run and the results are in. I ran a different format to what I had done in the past. The running order was settled via the randomize option in Race Co-ordinator. The format was 1 min warmup then 10 timed flying laps to set a time. Here's the car lined up for qualifying. the actual running order was last in line moving forward. The red # 4 was the track test and driver warm up car. ( Actually faster than #4, go figger!! ) And the final qualifying results. And the starting grid for tomorrow's race. Congratulations to Big mick on pole position and also to Mondeo74 (Chris D) & John Batich for 2nd & 3rd spots on the grid. It all Kicks off tomorrow around 1.00pm I'm really looking forward to the race and wish every one bon chance Cheers, Alan Quote home track club racer Spitfire Raceway forum link https://www.facebook.com/groups/1753319218331240/?ref=bookmarks

lenny broke
OK the race is all done and dusted and the results are in. But before we get to that I'd have to say today was somewhat trying with the elements doing their level best to scupper proceedings. The weather changed dramatically overnight from fine and sunny yesterday to heavy rain and very cold temperatures ( I saw 11deg.C at one point in the shed this afternoon). It has rained pretty well all day and this seemed to have affected somewhat with a short section of braid lifting in one section on green to multiple connectivity and braid contact issues which caused delays and had to be dealt with on the spot. It's very frustrating as the track has run pretty well up till the first of the guys arriving this afternoon and that's when the track decided it wasn't happy. I have to thank all the guys for there patience and good humour during the stoppages to get the track up and running again.Anyway enough of my tale of woe and on with the race report. First up to the results and it was a local lockout of the podium with another well deserved win for Sdeamon and 2nd to Mondeo74 and Big Mick coming home in third place. Mick also snagged the fastest lap........Well done lads. Here's the race scoresheet. lenny broke
Here's the final line up with the cars placed in their finishing positions. Here's the Driving team today Mick on Red Lane, Callum on Yellow lane, Peter D on Green lane and John S on Blue lane, Thanks Guys Good Job. Micks Leading us all in a minutes silence for our now dear departed old Torana And the marshaling team John C Form-up and Corner marshal, Somebody I can't recall their name Race control, Geoff & Bear corner marshals. Thanks to you too lads, a stirling effort!!!! I'd also Like to say a BIG THANK YOU to my Wife Heather (Mrs Broke to you lot) for help both today and the days leading up to today's race. I don't think it would all have come together with out her assistance and also for laying on the afternoon tea we all enjoyed post race. Here she's putting her feet up after all her efforts this week. lenny broke
Here's a few more bits and bobs about today. Fastest laps per lane Damage and mechanical report Phil K's Lotus lost its gear casing after an off backwards into the fence I'll attend to that in the morning with a bit of zapagap. David Mitcham's Ferrari first lost a front wheel and then the entire front axle quite late in a heat. The car completed the heat sans axle and was refitted in the lane change. I thing the grub screw is rounded out in the hex and won't tighten up sufficiently. Charles's Brabham managed to shed a front tyre off the rim in one of his heats but was able to continue to the end of the heat to be refitted at the lane change. The tyres appear to be a soft compound that don't fit very well on the rims. You might need to look at a hard compound front next year Chuck. charlesx
Hi Lenny and all. Great round. Many thanks to the organiser, drivers marshals and all. Also especially to Mrs Broke for keeping the team fed. Congrats also to the Podiumites. See I drifted back in the places again but surprised to see some familiar faces behind me - Lenny, Phil and the second John Batich car. Made my day. Regards and looking forward to that final round. Pity the Hurricanes just missed beating the Crusaders. Chas Le Breton (charlesx)
Terry
Thanks to all the boys and girl for running the round, seems to be a strong and energetic crowd to be part of lenny! Well done to the podiumites 5 out of the top 6 from SA! Quite pleased with my #47 in 9th, its that sort of year and that sort of car where anything inside the top 10 is a result. Stubbo
Thanks Alan and to all the crew at Spitfire. Must be that Adelaide water that makes the locals hard to beat. I'll update all the points following both the SA rounds tomorrow. The Grand Finale will be at Chris Ross' Masonite Mountain on July 20th. Congratulations to the podium chaps. A bit of improvement for the 156 despite the front axle loss. If you think one of the wheel grub screws is ruined please would someone replace it for me?
