Capri-corn7
Have finally made a start on my F100 Resin body (Munterwerks) Picked up a cheap kinsmart diecast Chevy wrecker in which the whole back half was in plastic. So my plan is to mate them together to build a Ford Tow truck / wrecker. Seems to fit quite well. Edited May 13, 2019 by Capri-corn7 2 Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger. munter
and who makes the F100 body shell? that would be me. Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
Capri-corn7
Hey Chet - thanks for the reminder - not much progress on this lately as life keeps getting in the way. I have the kits' windows fitting snugger now after some more careful carving and filing. I also filled in the wheel arches a little as I thought the openings looked a little too big.. Next job is to make some sides for the tray and get it into primer... & yep it's a lovely shell so PM Mr Munter if you are keen. Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger. Capri-corn7
Ok so happy with rear tray now and have it sitting here mocked up on a PCS-32 chassis from Pendles.. Next step is to fit some body mounts and get it running... Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger.
munter
Looking good, Pat. Whatever you do please allow for some weight addition to counter balance the rather high COG. Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
Capri-corn7
Good idea - you went steel chassis on yours yeah? Are you suggesting we introduce ute racing? Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger.
munter
Yes, the weight of the Penelope Pitlane made a difference. Are you suggesting we introduce ute racing? I am reluctant to suggest anything to our group these days. Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
Capri-corn7
Heh. Must place an order for some of your steel wheel inserts please. Have you ever found anything to use as hub caps? Capri-corn7
Got this running on the weekend and it's a hoot to drive. As the wise one said - it needed quite a bit of weight underneath to keep in the groove, but goes surprisingly well. All blue tacked in for now which will need tidying up at some stage... I used plastic Avantslot front wheels all round and trued up some standard Racer tyres - I think they were..? Grip quite well. Handles so much better without the tow rig - but I've made my bed and it's just for fun. Unless we bring back truck racing ... 1 Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger. mattcrackers
Coming along nicely, I must of missed this post back in May. The Kinsmart models do come in handy for their plastic pieces. Can you not use the light etc from the Kinsmart model? I used the chrome etc for one of Munters Resin 57 Corvette, still no chassis though. Hopefully get it finished one day. cheers Matt. Capri-corn7
Thanks Matt - you just reminded me I have the cherry roof light and the wing mirror squirreled away somewhere... hmmm - will look at headlights now as well.... That chrome looks good on the Vette too! Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger.

Capri-corn7
@Matt you gave me an idea I've turned down the original Chevy wheels for inserts. mattcrackers
Looking good. I've kept all the Kinsmart pieces from my Corvette and do intend on doing the same. Cheap way to get all the chrome pieces really.

mattcrackers
Awesome work on the paintjob with the rusting etc. And the fact it's in my favorite livery.
Capri-corn7
Thanks Matt. I couldn't find a pale enough early 'Gulf' blue so attempted to mix and airbrush. However it was a complete experiment as I'd not used it for a finished job before and probably should have practiced... a lot. Hence the 'dirty' look to hide many flaws... Capri-corn7
Interior sorted. A quick paint of the kits vac tray, donor steering wheel from a BMW 635csi & 'Bob' got a lick of paint.
