Hello all, the cars have arrived here today. Have only had time to do a visual and a wheel rotation check. Car #1 (RS200 - Snurfy) and car #20 (RS200 - ZeGas) both had the rear axle popped out of the bush mounts. Both popped straight back in and seem secure. These cars were in the same container compartment with 2 or 3 other cars and there is no obvious damage to the box so a bit odd. No other snags.

I'll do shakedown tests soon and we are planning to run stage 1 at the weekend and another stage on Monday coming. If all goes well will try for a third stage.

Great to see the cars again, they are looking good.

Updates to follow.

Leo

Hello Mark,

It makes you wonder what abuse the parcels go through in transit. A couple of years ago a resin bodied proxy car arrived here with the body broken in half. Again, there was no obvious damage to the box and the cars were decently individually wrapped. Luckily no harm done with these cars.

Is it an RS200 thing ? The axles seem well retained.

Yeah agree. The postal mob have a lot to answer sometimes. I actually used corflute to strengthen the sides of the box up . It's strong and light. But i think when it gets thrown ,something's got give inside . Touch wood we've never had a squashed box yet.

If you have ever seen how the parcels are treated this would not surprise you. They get thrown around with no regard for the contents.

I visited a local sorting centre with its manager and was surprised just how rough they were with the parcels

Not related to this proxy but a local member did not put his cars away properly a few weeks back. Slot car box fell under car wheels as wife backed out of garage. Do I need to say more? Some cars completely flattened.

Saw the same thing at Sydney airport once. The guy was throwing and kicking suitcases from one pile to another. He looked up at me and then carried on doing it.

Ok.

The cars arrived for shakedown runs. All arrived under their own power and seemed to be running well:

Scots would never "waste" a drop of malt ! LOL

Ref the FlickR images, PM me your email address if you want any car photos.

Apart from BenM's matt black RS200 they came out quite well.

Leo

PS Special mention for AquaKiwi's car... I don't see anything in the regs about the co-driver having to wear a crash-helmet. I think that one year there was a Kangaroo in a crew (?)

I did shakedown runs today - this is where the host enjoys the cars :-)

Running on my Ninco layout, I did 5 or 6 laps with each car and noted the best time.Following the photos above Mel has pointed out that the car of Snurfy/Martyn should be #59 so have identified as such.

We ran stage 1 today, planning another later this week. This was on a temporary track made up of Scalextric Sport and Scalextric Start track. The MJK tyres were great on these - all good.

Photos below, results to follow.

Results from Stage 1:-

Car that Crawford wanted to keep was TeamRed's #46 Audi Quattro. Reason being that it drove and sounded not unlike a 1:1 Quattro.
