branco
On the weekend of 27th, 28th and 29th July, Dunedin will be the focus of attention for all New Zealand 1/32 RTR racers. The Pitlane Slot Car club will be the host and a new track has been freshly prepped to sort the men from the boys. The format is the same as last year with 4 classes being contested. Dion will be hoping for another clean sweep but the challengers are getting geared up for some serious competition. I will endeavour to post a meeting report with a sprinkling of photos from all the action. SlotsNZ
Boys, have we got some bottles of superglue labeled up as lube oil for him? How about a quick executive meeting before the first race with a remit that all drivers under 30 have to race with one eye patched; and the controller held behind their back - that should even things up - a bit. Just getting creative here. Now what do we do about Split and Millings.... ooops, you are Millings Quote Recovering Lapsed Slot Addict * Custodian of many used screws (mostly loose ) * Total kidder * Companion of other delusional slot addicts

branco
It's been a long but great weekend in Dunedin racing the Nationals at the Pitlane Slotcar Club. I'll chuck some pics up now and do a better report when I have had time to recover from my 8 hour drive home (well worth it!!). The battlefield. Group C begins the day's activities. Mark Burgess has a story to tell regarding his car, more later. NSR Classic Qualifying results. The cars in Parc Ferme after scutineering. Robin Allan drove the only non 908/P68 in the field and drove it well. NSR Classic results. Muscle car class was next up, a chance for competitors to show some individuality.... Qualifying results...No way...lodge a protest, check the PC for a lap timing fault!!!! Well done El Marko. Is the Zoo missing a Monkey??? Results. Final class of the day, GT. Results. So 2 wins apiece to Dion DeGraaf and Graeme Saxton. The meeting was plagued by some great close racing, some good banter and plenty of fun. All competitors praised the organisation of the event by the Pitlane Club. SlotsNZ
Yep Charles A good time indeed. Thanks for doing the reporting Mark. A couple of raw videos below. The usual suspects. [ Click on YOUTUBE to watch them directly there and get rid of the annoying green stripe. ] Slot.it Group C http://youtu.be/axP05n1AmWw I was surprised how mixed the field was, with a lot of high and low wing Porsches at the pointy end, and one of the Kouros Saubers. The Toyotas certainly didn't dominate the way I expected. Open GT, 3 NSRs and Mark M with his Sideways Huracan. http://youtu.be/IpISdDZn2vw I broke my Slot.it chassis sometime prior to going south, and hadn't noticed one corner of the pod was unsupported until I looked closely. So DIon kindly loaned me a spare NSR C7R, "It's a bit under-powered, but quite smooth" ( still got me mid pack) extremely grateful for his - as usual humility and kindness. So the field was dominated by Moslers and C7Rs, apart from an NSR Aston driven by Sax, Branco's Sideways Huracan and Split's Black Arrow Ferrari Split finished about 2 segments behind Dion for 3rd place. charlesx
Hi Mark and all. Look forward to full results if available. Big thanks to Pitlane for putting on a good event. Perhaps it will encourage others to visit the deep south in the future. RTR certainly seems to be flying high at the moment so keep it up everybody. It is of course where it all started no matter what the metal car brigade like to think. Regards Chas Le Breton
