big den
Hello again Matt If you do Google searches on the following : 'marusan ferrari sharknose slot car' and 'marusan hurricane set' you should get a few good pics of how the Marusan Sharknose looked in its original habitat, Based on the those that I have seen (and for the companion Lotus in the set) the only decoration was the paper number stickers A few years back I obtained decals from Pattos with a grand plan to decorate both the Ferrari and Lotus in liveries more appropriate to the era in which they raced. The cars and the decals are still part of my UFO category (UnFinished Objects). However I did repaint one of my Lotuses in green and yellow in 1997 and raced it in the inaugural Adelaide Grand Prix ... it played a small role in the video "Waiting For The Green". mattcrackers
Thanks again for the information Big Den, been slow to reply as haven’t had the internet at home since the 28th Feb, Telstra are working hard at getting it fixed😂😂😂. mattcrackers
Anyone able to help out as to what brand/model of car this is? There's nothing written anywhere on the body or chassis. Missings quite a bit, looks to have 1/32 wheels for it's size (1/24?). Cheers Matt
wizardgm
I believe it is a Riko / Maurusan Brabham - Definitely a HIT motor !! See this link for more info. https://www.slotforum.com/threads/hit-racing-line.48972/post-539800
mattcrackers
Thanks for the link, don't know if I'm more knowledgeable now or more confused after reading it, lol. So it looks like they show a picture of a 1/32 HIT chassis which seems to be the same as the one I've posted. Although the one I have here appears to be 1/24 scale. I did some work on a couple of HIT cars some time back, A Ferrari 250 GTO and a Corvette Stingray. Their chassis's are the same as the one above but they were 1/32 scale cars, unfortunately I don't have those cars here to compare the sizing. Had a quick search on the net for Riko, Marusan, HIT Brabham but all that pops up is the 1/32 Marusan/Atlas Brabham in my other thread I just updated earlier. cheers Matt
kalbfellp
Hit was an off shoot of Marusan, they made 3 1/24 kits in 1/24 about 1965 or 66. I have only seen a BRM F1 and Lotus Indy but I think the other was a Mercedes. Quote Phil https://www.hobartminiaturecarclub.com/ Email
mattcrackers
Hi Phil, Yes, I did come across the BRM, Lotus and Mercedes. Would just like to find a photo of the car above complete before I start rebuilding it. I'll keep searching for now, usually one pops up. mattcrackers
Ok, got it sorted. It's a Marusan HIT Lotus Ford. Now just need to find a photo of the car built, not in kit form.

mattcrackers
Hi Phil, Thanks for the link. Here's a couple of pictures I've found, both Marusan 1/24 Lotus. The first is the Lotus Ford. This is the exact car I have. I'd say this is the Marusan HIT release. The other is the Lotus 25. Released as Marusan!! I know next to nothing about the different types of Lotus. Only exception would be the Lotus 16's I collect. What would the Lotus Ford I have actually be, another Lotus 25?. I dismantled the body yesterday, luckily the parts which were glued together fell apart quite easily. The windscreen eventually came out but I'll have to make a new resin one because of all the glue over it. The wheels are tiny, 1/32 size like the other two HIT cars I restored some time back. I'll be replacing these with something larger. I'll probably get out into the shed today and start rebuilding the front end. Pretty sure I have the Lotus-Ford decals already, just have to decide whether I go the green with yellow or white with blue. Any help is much appreciated. cheers Matt
kalbfellp
The car you have is actually sold as a Lotus. Ford ( possibly to cash in on the Indy entry by Lotus.) by what I can see. They are not great models. The Marusan kit has different motor and a chassis that bolts to the front of the motor. The motor has the rear bearings as part of the motor. mattcrackers
Definitely not a great rendition Phil. I'll try and 'pretty' it up a bit and see if I can improve on the original.
Chris in the A.C.T.
Kinda / Almost looks like an Indianapolis Lotus 29 - Ford Chris.
mattcrackers
Cheers Chris, The standard car definitlely need bigger wheels, tyres etc. Will never be a perfect model but I'll see what can be done with it.
mattcrackers
Another. what is it post. This came in a 'going to the bin' free lot. Sorry tiny pic but the only one I have. Turns out after some paint stripping it's a Ford Thunderbird which has been wheel arched. But I haven't seen this chassis before. Brass at front and rear was screwed through the body. It seems to be an adjustable type chassis. Any help as usual is much appreciated. cheers Matt
mattcrackers
Looks like no one wins the prize for knowing what the last chassis was. Here's a couple more chassis's I'd like help in identifying. I've cleaned this one up, it had a little black paint over the brass, and a home made tin motor mount. Would like to know what the original motor mount looked like to complete the chassis, or make something to suit. Any idea about this one. And one more. A mate of mine gives me boxes of old chassis, parts etc and it seems that most of the correct parts are in the boxes. But knowing what goes with what is the problem. Usually if I can find a picture I can rebuild the chassis etc back to it's original form. Any idea Gents. cheers Matt
Chris in the A.C.T.
Pretty sure the first one is Tamiya. Second one is Strombecker. Last one is K & B. My favourite home racing motor / chassis from the '60's, don't rev hard but I thought they handled really well on short tracks. Be careful pulling that bad boy apart, all mine have lost their magnetism . Chris.
wizardgm
Top one is definitely Tamiya. They came in two varieties, brass and black painted. 36D powered. I've seen on under a Tamiya Lora T70 (meant o be Lola T70) see picture of box top eblow...
mattcrackers
Thanks for the help. At least it gives me some idea of what to search for regarding the older chassis. Now just to find pictures of the complete chassis/cars. cheers Matt
