munter
I have a box of cars on hand. My usual approach which will be applied here is a shake down run with times recorded and then six minutes of glory for each car with best time and number of laps plus segments recorded. This may take a few days as I am deep into casting some Monaro shells at the mo. More when there is more. charlesx
Great start there Munter. You will enjoy driving these cars but remember they are pretty standard Scaly with only rear handout tyres and weight added as you are probably aware. Nothing else is allowed except for slight body/chassis easing and removal of the lights if you wish.. Scaly guides are fairly shallow but usually OK on a wood track if no other car problems. I note you say my car drives heavy. Do not think my car is the heaviest but it is certainly getting up there. Mainly to minimise tipping - a particular Metro problem. As with any rally a car build is a bit of a compromise to get consistent performance over a variety of conditions. Going on last year and so far this year the Metro is probably the hardest to get the best out of. The Ford RS200 and the Lancia being the easiest and the Ford RS 200 being a real flyer on some tracks probably including yours. Time will tell. Sure we will all look forward to a great competition as qualifying and the various stages are completed. Have fun. Just a suggestion but if you had saved your WORD table as a PDF it would probably have been OK. Peter Gunn
Like the car nice livery and just the right amount of dirt , did think last year the Lancia had the edge on the Ford especially in the early races , but this year seems to be the other way round , have driven a Lancia on a small track and i did find the car didn't like contact at the rear with objects like walls and scenery , the ford was a lot better as regards that suppose it is the shape more compact all round , on the tyre front the MJK's sometimes give to much bite out of tight corners when you power on and the Ford can be a bit tippy because of that , can be aleviated a bit by extra chamfering of the edges of the tyres, one thing i have noticed last year as well as this is the differance in the motor performance , for a dead standard 18k motor they all should be of roughly the same performance as all on the same gearing the only differance is in prep , the tyres by now would all be in a similar condition as regards texture on the track so that should not be a contibuting factor unless people are using very worn tyres at the start of the series . The straight line speed and overall lap times of the current top 3 is noticably differant to the pack i have 4 scalextric motors i have run in a test car just to see if there is a differance in them and there is not, so i am somewhat perplexed where the extra performance comes from , possibly weight there is a point especially with the Ford where it is to heavy and feels sluggish , and there is also a point where not enough weight can cause the car to roll seems to be a very fine line , guessing it's the same with the others especially the Metro. I had at one time stopped development work on these cars like differant weight, distribution, balance trying differant guides e.t.c but it has been intriging me so started again with my spare car earlier this year, not sure if this rally will continue next year hope it does as it is currently the only proxy rally around. munter
The Lancia is bigger and higher in the rear so any contact with the wing or hind quarters must unsettle the car. The Ford is smaller and lower so can sneak by an obstacle however the top cars are the top cars. axman
Well.. okay.. I'll be your friend Munter. Your test track is a great. it's got it all.. small and large radius turns, a decent straight and takes up little space. Most of us lack any way of sorting a car before trekking long distances only to find our chassis tune / motor / gearing is all wrong. Well done.. friend.
