terry 52 Report post Posted July 6, 2018 (edited) Just to let you all know the cars have arrived at Marsden Park for the final round. Thanks Rossko for speedy delivery. I will be unpacking and checking the cars out this afternoon, practice and qualifying will be done over the weekend with the race being run in the early part of next week. I will update on any issues as they come to hand. Good luck to all Terry Edited July 6, 2018 by terry

terry 52 Report post Posted July 8, 2018 (edited) I was able to get things going this afternoon and managed to get all the cars on track and get some laps down just to see how things were and to see if there were any cars with major dramas. No problems really, all cars will be getting a touch up before qualy, I'll be cleaning up braids and giving the tyres a little TLC. Don't take too much notice of these times (especially if you aren't happy where you finished up) its only a shakedown run, I'll be giving all cars a red hot go tomorrow for qualifying. In no particular order....... Car #9 Mustang Team Red 4.766 first car out on track and steady improver as tyres come up to speed #9 XB Falcon Gas41T 4.536 tyres a bit off, will improve #7 Torana Vinno 5.217 its going to be along day! #5 Falcon XA Hardtop Gazza 4.578 liked this car, goes well #05 Volvo Jimmy 4.435 almost too quick I closed my eyes and hoped for the best, smooth, but almost too quick. #4 Monaro Diffinity 4.823 bit slippery maybe these tyres have seen better days #3 BMW M3 Nitro 0440 4.840 wants to trip over itself #3 Falcon Phase 3 Munter 4.791 love the chassis John! Fun to drive #2 XB Falcon Aloha 4.535 nice car will be a good car on raceday #10 Sierra Pepsi62 5.000 this car demands 100% attention, tricky #11 Sierra Capricorn 7 4.815 neat little car #13 XB Falcon Drew 4.532 I found it a little difficult to get a rhythm going #16 EH Holden 4.973 tricky and hard to drive #17 Sierra Orakei Racer 4.648 really nice car #21 Galaxie Wobble 4.657 tyres are just about gone, fun car to drive #23 Camaro Tupperware Greg 4.420 a bit noisy but who cares when the car is this quick! Nice car Greg! #25 Sierra ZeGas 4.849 noisy and tippy #31 BMW 635 Viv 4.611 seems as though the tyres have gone hard (bit noisey) #33 XB Falcon "Mine" 4.494 not too shabby, it grew up here so its got home ground advantage #63 Falcon Phase 3 Dave Carter 4.660 goes well Dave #111 Camaro Peter Gunn 4.696 Maybe this might come on during a longer run, a bit difficult to get a decent time from this car #17 Camaro Branco 4.837 pretty fair car, should progress as the car settles in So, not too much to report apart from what has been noted, generally most cars are having little issues which is to be expected at the end of a series, tyres are feeling the pinch and gears are noisy in too many cars. Tomorrow I will be qualifying the cars and starting the race, although I don't know if I will be able to get the race completed in the same day, I'll keep you posted, Terry Edited July 8, 2018 by terry

Updates to follow, should be nearly done by this time tomorrow. Terry

terry 52 Report post Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) Sorry for the delay, its been one thing and another today but finally the race has been run and won. Nothing between Drew and Rosskos' cars in the end, less than a lap, probably about 3 seconds apart after 12 minutes of racing, great cars to drive, a real pleasure! Right now I'm about done in, so I'll leave it till tomorrow to do a full run through of who finished where and why, etc... etc..... terry 52 Report post Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) Just a final wrap on each cars performance...... For some reason Drew missed the early rounds and for some of us thats not such a bad thing! excellent car to drive, the sort of car that anyone could have driven at the limit, his fastest lap of 4.169 is super quick, certainly amongst the top GP 5 proxy cars from last year. 1st place 169.45 laps Another excellent car to drive, Rosskos car has been the class act in this proxy, the #13 Falcon and this one were never separated by too much throughout the running, great car! 2nd place 168.89 laps f/lap 4.217 Alohas' Falcon is another great car to drive, just a tad off the other 2 above but its a very nice car to drive, 3rd place 163.135 laps f/lap 4.418 I am very pleased with my #33 Falcon, I was a little puzzled by the car deslotting at the front when I built the car and saw the only option was to add weight, obviously this did affect the speed of the car, should have spent just a wee bit more time with the set up, I'm delighted to finish 4th! 163.02 laps f/lap 4.372 Very quick car, maybe just a bit too much, I had to be a little careful in driving as it was easy to get "loose", great car Jimmy its great to see you doing proxy stuff! 5th place 160.24 laps f/lap 4.366 Good car, easy to push and predictable, if not a little noisy, for me its my first sighting of the MJK chassis and if Vivs' car is any indication they are very impressive, loved this car! 6th place 159.23 laps f/lap 4.416 If there was a car to be the most unlikely, it would have to be this one, first impressions were "its too big" but once you drove the car it was great, handled really well drove hard and it was a lot of fun. For those of us who bought those cheap Avant $3 setups on EBay this is the answer! Well done on a great build, Character by the bucket load 7th place 158.86 laps f/lap 4.503 Another fine example of the MJK chassis, for a narrow(wish) car it handled really well, had good speed and easy to drive 8th placing 158.85 laps f/lap 4.423 Probably the best looking car in the field( and thats saying something!) really nice work Dave, not only does it look the business but its no slug either! very drivable, 9th place 157.32 laps f/lap 4.535 Gregs race started really well, 2nd in Qualy, and a good number on red lane, the car fell away somewhat from that and I thought the tyres were gone, not so much in tread but more so that the tyres were very "square" and seemed hard and bouncy, good straight line speed, so good to see familiar names on the score sheet, I think its been about 15 years since we raced at the same time together. 10th place 155.82 laps f/lap 4.474 Gazzas XA was another example of the MJK chassis, nice car, and although speed was good it laced a little traction, not sure what tyres may have been used,( maybe MJK??) but it was a wee bit loose 11th place 153.06 laps f/lap 4.597 First of the Sierras, you expect an car from Orakei racer to be on the money, this car doesn't disappoint, good speed handled nicely, not really there when compared to the Falcons but certainly a nice car 12th place 153.01 laps f/lap 4.499 Nicely presented car, good solid runner without being a challenger, is it tyres? Possibly as it seemed to not have that extra bit. 13th place 152.71 laps f/lap 4.494 Nice car John! maybe not quite there with the others but a lovely example of vintage chassis design 14th place 151.42 laps f/lap 4.681 Edited July 13, 2018 by terry
David Carter 98 Report post Posted July 13, 2018 (edited) thanks Terry nice presentation on the cars well done to the top 3 place getters those pesky Falcons do it again but I am a GM man so I will be forgoing a Falcon next year and running a Holden from out of Munterworks hope your move and getting the track re-setup doesn't take to long Edited July 13, 2018 by David Carter Quote Holdens rule the rest just drool slot cars are my drug, ATCC/Bathurst proxy host NZ Grp5 proxy host.
