kalbfellp
This year the WRP cars have travelled further south than ever before to Hobart for two rounds at Shelmore Park For those who have not seen the track before: The track is 1.2m by 2.4 and about 17 metres lap lenght. Surface varies around the lap similar to any real rally. 20 cars assembled ready to do battle around this tight track. Stage 1 of the round provided some very interesting and close results. I was very surprised to drive the kids car as I had not driven it since it was retuned by them. Think I will give them my Lancia to do for next year! Surprise of the day had to be Branco's car, very smooth and quick. But had to concentrate for all the lap. It is very twichy. Gas41T car is very smooth and fast. Any car that can run under 10.5 on this track is good. Some of the action from stage 1 Hope fully I will get a chance to run Stage two later today and get it reported late tonight or early Sunday. BigC
Thanks for the update. Let's hope my usual pattern of a good first round followed by a rubbish second round doesn't happen this time !
teamredracing
Thanks Phil for the start of your round . Just had a look at your posting time . You suffering from insomnia or just getting up for that man break we have at our age . If 10.5 is a good lap , i;m happy with juuuusssst being out of it. My navvy must have turned to the centre spread of Playboy again at the crucial moment . Or failing that , Chris Meeks has jumped into the car and we know what happens then . Good pics aswell. Anyway looking forward to Stage 2 . Try and get some sleep between stages and stay warm , cold one down your way again today. No doubt snow on Wellington soon if not already , but then again that can near be all year round Cheers Craig Quote Craig "You can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. Ontheflipside
Thanks for getting it underway Phil. Unfortunately I cannot see any pics either. I'm currently in China and social media is banned here. Some how lucky to be texting here Last time I was here this forum was shut down on me :( Guys, Phil currently has a lot on his plate and we knew this prior to asking him to run two rounds there so please be patient with any delays. kalbfellp
Sorry about the images I will see what I can do to repost the images. Drop shots seemed to be having problems so posted from drop box. Not sure what happened between 8:11 and 8:30 when the pics went off into cyberspace. Hopefully it is now all fixed. Stay tuned for Stage 2,sorry for the delay guys, but a bit full on here, as well as all else bloody carpet layer has turned up this week to do the whole house and needs all the furniture moved! That seems to have restored the images and more important the results. kalbfellp
I reloaded all the images using another hosting site. DropShots seems to be down. Craig not sure Chris Meeks will be jumping into any car for a while Good results are not only building a fast car but an easy to drive car. It is interesting to compare the fastest times with the average. The top of the field are easy to drive on the limit. charlesx
Hi Phil and all. Comparing WRP with OZ Rally looks like WRP is up with Historic and not too far behind WRC cars. Presume we are talking about same track. Well done to all. Regards Chas Le Breton
kalbfellp
Charles Yes same track and same number of laps, these cars surprised me just how fast they are especially knowing how standard they are. kalbfellp
Stage 2 has now been complete. Very close times infact two cars had exactly the same time. Some of Stage 2 action. This is Rosscos car that had problems on this corner going in this direction,it seems to be bottoming out and deslotting,so had to drive slower. Looks like it may have had some problems and borrowed some front wheels from one of the Metro's! This is one I missed from Stage one. Notice the guide out of the slot, this car appears to have a printed guide that is too long and very loose in its pivot, so tend to give problems. Well done to the GKids,Branco and Gas41T for some great cars. I do have some notes about the cars and will try and get them posted soon. Now looking forward to moving over to the faster Hillclimb track for the next round. Peter Gunn
Nothing Branco did think i had put out a better car this year to have a go for the podium , but F'd it up by doing a couple of fundermental errors so dissapointed in myself , try to put up a competative well turned out car in proxies
branco
I think the WRP Rally Proxy is so hard to get the perfect set up for a car given the different layouts our cars visit. Setting a car up for a "normal" road circuit Proxy is mainly about getting all the standard tuning parts correct and/or better than your opposition, whereas these rally layouts present a totally different proposition for each car. I didn't do a thing to my Metro from last year, I just hope it gets better with age, like me!!! lol.
