Mrrc Soft Tires....have You Used Them?

Recommended Posts

I got a packet back in December ($NZ9.00 for four) but have only just fitted a pair to the rear of a Valiant Charger build.

They dropped my lap time by 3/10 sec over urethanes.

Nice high profile too for the older more classic style cars.

Didn't know they did a soft compound - their stock tyres are average - I shall investigate

Hmm so they have special rubber tyres made of SP-002 rubber material and then front tyres made of natural rubber...

Looks like 27x11.0-15 Hoosier.

Which rims they fit John or,rather, what size rim?

Inserts look great on the Charger too. Are they a repop of the 50's Chevy snap together kit?

The rims you see in the picture are slotit 15mm items.

The insert is taken from the diecast wheel that was the base for the resin body.

I think I have a pair of these tyres on my MRRC Cooper Monaco - they go well, nice and soft and grip is comparable to my urethane tyres. No need to change them :)

I tried some of these on a Galaxie tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The grip is at least as good as similar width Supergrips on Wazza's track and they couldn't be easier to sand. I think I've found a new favourite tyre for classic stockers and the likes. Thanks for the heads up munter.

Not a bad tyre at all , but i think you'll find MRRC don't make them anymore.

The nearest i found to them is the PCS 20 X7 mm tyres no PCS 32207 T for the classics i run here.

Great to hear they worked for you, Wobble.

Peter Gunn, I bought some a month or so ago...

Try looking for SRP labels maybe?

Come to think of it, we had American muscle last night and the Galaxie with the MRRC tyres had better grip than a Pioneer Mustang with Supergrips and P G, my tyres only arrived from Pendles this week.

Hi John double checked on the MRRC site and that size tyre is not listed anymore in 20x7 or larger, Pendals list MRRC tyres but only in sets of 4, 2 front and 2 rear, might be some around at dealers but no longer made by MRRC

That is strange...why would they discontinue a product which is selling out?

Pendle lists them: https://www.pendleslotracing.co.uk/mrrc-tyres-21-5x10mm.html?___SID=U

Also, Constellation hobby here in auckland has them.

Nice tyres. Easy to true and last forever. They get better with a bit of oil treatment.

Their front tyres are very also good.
