They Call Me Grumpy....they Might Be Right.

Sometimes, just sometimes on a thread, words from another member can piss me off.

It might be a flippant comment on a scratch build.

It might be a negative comment, but that can be helpful.

It might be blatant thread drift or thread stealing as I now call it.

It might be piggy backing, " I made one too, look at mine"

It might be no comment at all.

I would love to hear what any other members feel when they read threads they started or comments on replies they made.

Please dont make me write a forum etiquette thread.

Is there a thread of guidelines/etiquette for members already in existence?

The way I see a public forum should be a place where people can openly discuss themes. Sometimes there is a bit of drift or piggybacking (I have done this twice recently here): it could happen as starting a new thread is not really worth it...I do not see anything wrong with it and could add to the discussion. But maybe depends on the day.

Cheers

I can't believe people call you grumpy, John. You see things as they are, nothing wrong with that.

I do think sometimes we put out own connotations to what people have written and read them in our head with different emphasis to what the intention might have been.

A few times I have gotten the wrong end of the stick because.

In regards to pigging backing I agree with Grunz, I think sometimes that is a good thing, stealing thread is wrong though.

A couple of posts I have started have had others ideas inputted and personally I think that is a good thing if it is relevant to the topic, as you don't have to go searching all over for similar ideas.

If it intended as a personal post, like a record for self on procedures for future reference then maybe a statement can be added at its initiation so readers can stay on topic or just heap praise.

Espsix is right on the money, when I talk face to face with people the conversation moves around. Sometimes they or I will say something that pisses them or myself off that is life I dont own conversations but unlike face to face I can just skip over the stuff I dont like or just ignore the garbage.

Sounds like something Crumpy would have written.
