Very 70’S

Working on a pair of HQ kingswoods for my dad’s birthday.

They have been chosen to match his car from his youth, and his dad’s car from the same era.

As they are lexcen bodies, and I wanted to paint them on the inside, I had to hand detail the shells first, which was weird.

After making my own window masks, I got to lay down some colour.

With the colours not quite how I liked, I then backed the in black which made them darken up nicely.

The body still needs to be trimmed and shaped correctly.

The interior of the yellow car will be black, and the purple car will be brown.

Now, all the chassis parts are here, and I just need to the interesting combination of scaley chassis, carrera axles, and mrrc wheels.

Then I need to figure out how I’m going to mount the shell to the chassis.

Oh, and for shits and giggles, the chassis’ are 360 degree drift ones.

They are 1/32 scale Pattos bodies.

Given the texture on them, it appears that he 3d prints the molds, and then doesn't smooth them before pulling shells.

But, that said, they are by no means terrible.

1 chassis is nearing completion.

Still haven’t decided how I’ll mount the shell though.

Thanks guys.

They are moving along... slowly...

Bodies are now cut out, and I've nearly finished one mounting plate.

Hopefully pics tomorrow, and potentially of a complete car.

If they're pattos bodies they aren't lexan tey are PTEG depending on what you've painted them they get a bit brittle. I'd suggest putting FG strapping tape under the front and around the wheel arches. a decent hit will result in the body cracking/ splitting in those area.

Thanks guys.

I’ve gone with a stotworx style body mounts, and am very happy with how they are looking.

Don't forget the Cibie Super Oscar on the front too...

Oh, and Dad loved them, which was great.

Edit:

Here is Dad's car, sans CB Antenna, Fox tail and Super Oscar (all of which it did have at various times)...
