Metrorama - Polishing The Ultimate Scalextric Turd.

Recommended Posts

Ok so the Metro's finally got to the mighty Thunder Road.

A good turn out meant the out of towners got some top HB drivers. Clean racing all round and all cars performed really well on the big white top.

Burgerturd did let a body post go but he got some sweet tape under yellow. I'll add some pics later...

Here's the gloat board. The midfield has it all to play for on the Anaconda....

Well, the night's busting open, these two lanes will take us anywhere

We got one last chance to make it real

To trade in these wings on some wheels

Climb in back, heaven's waiting on down the tracks

Stopped the considerable 'flapping about' and greatly reduced lift.

We agreed no penalty even though it may help you in the pageant ....

After 25 pages of total BS and reckless showboating, the mighty Metrorama series will finally come to an end tomorrow night at The Munter Cave. Security is tight in this top secret location as the also-rans gather to duke it out in a last minute bid for a spot on the lowest level of the podium.

One humble man, with 2 blistering fast cars, already has the series in the bag.

Some people call him The Man They Couldn't Root Shoot or Electrocute. Some call him MetroGod.

We just call him Slotmadmac.

Some call him humble and some dont....I call him "The Great Initiator"

He is one who has seen the light and knows the known and the unknown of slotcardom.

I rest my case...probably on the floor.

No one can argue with Slotmadmac's self adoration.

This Metrorama series has been a great inspiration to me and countless others who suffer from "slotcar building uselessness syndrome".

Since I built my Metro in such a way that I have once again suffered humiliation at finishing in last place, my car prep has got a lot better.

Cheers Mac, you are great, but you knew that anyway.

Can we mix up the final round and make it so that no one drives their own car???

Gots to make it fair for the out of towners for at least one round...

:)

I'll suggest this to the boys tonight.

I would be a negative on that one SR....No one has driven much on this track except me and I want to win.

I am guessing that I will drive a car from an absentee builder but as race director I think it is best the locals drive their cars first and then we have pizza, coke and other food goodies before drawing straws for the out of towners cars.

From memory your car went well on my track.

See you on the other side.

Well the final round has been run...

On Munters mighty Anaconda. Tight twisty - off camber corners, it has it all... except extra lanes...

oRPyKejl.jpg

sLkFKLHl.jpg

Format was for locals a 3min practise then straight into a 3min heat. Then our top pilots ran the out of towners...

RESULTS:

As expected Munter cleaned up on his own track. No one was allowed to even look at the track until race time...

Top 5

Munter 27.5

SlotsNZ 26.0

Gas4IT 25.4

Slotmadmac / Crockett 25.2

And here are the Final Final results

So despite Slotmadmac's egomaniacal tendencies it turns out - he really is the greatest....

Congratulations Mac - not just for the win but for organising another great event.

Who'd have thought these little Metros would have had so much in them..

Oh we had to make a little "#1 Turd Polisher" trophy for him too..

Big thanks for the out of towners for getting involved in the craziness as well.

Branco, Wobble, Shadow Rusty & Gas4IT. Cheers guys what will 2018's theme be...?

Congrats to Mac and Munter for taking out the series and peoples choice awards, and thanks for running this hole Turd fest guys and also for giving us 'out of townies' a chance at going for the glory too. Gold turd didn't do too good but I'm now pinning my hopes on 'big turd' doing a bit better in the ATCC proxy.

Thanks for another sweet report Pat and thanks to Munter for hosting the final round. It was fitting that these little over-achievers duked it out on the Anaconda surrounded by so much slot excellence. The Munter Skunkworks is something else

Thanks as well for the trophy Pat! It was heading for the mantlepiece until Race Catering did the Haka so it's now in the Slot Cave in pride of place.

Thanks to all who joined in the lunacy. I'll be in touch next week with the out of towners to arrange getting your cars back.

Thanks guys. Was a fun event, even if I’m no where near the pace.

Ps. Love that shot of the RusTurd.
