Hmm must have had to much time to prepare this car 14th first round 17th second round by the third round should be propping up the field , agree with Phil about the gaps there are some really good Scalex cars out there with a lot quicker motors than a lot of us.

It's not so much the motors, but more the whole setup ie right weight in the right places, gearing meshing perfectly, nice body float and everything nice and smooth, makes the whole package nice and balanced to drive.

If I had the choice of 2 motors the same brand I'd pick the slower one for rally. My car is the heaviest in the field and I used brass, not alluminium, collars on the rear wheel boss's to strengthen them and make them a little heavier to turn. Both probably take a bit of sting out of the motor. Its balance weight (rear wheel and guide weight) is about 60%-40% which is what my Avant Subaru and Teamslot Alpine Ozrally winners are or there abouts. As Gazza said, there's more to it.

Its only early days yet.

Thanks for the update.

Were all on the same gearing, all on the same motor, and most of us balance the same within a few grams of each other, that goes along for the same tyre , which most of us glue and true , i can build smooth cars in fact i keep get being told that, but in the end it comes down to motor speed especially to be that far behind the leading cars , and yes slo1quick i know there's more to it been doing it for years, and yes it,s early days but already a big gap is opening up after only 2 rounds just look at the times , i don't really care where i am position wise in the WRP just would like to know why there is such a large gap between some of the cars .

The goal of building a good proxy car is to try and build it so anyone can drive it, it doesn't matter how fantastic it goes on your own track, your the one driving it.

Other peoples driving techniques may be totally different to your, some people find some cars perfect for them, others are a bit cautious and any mishap while driving makes them even more so.

Different voltage and even different throttle combinations can, and do, change performance.

Track layout and surfaces, plastic or routed timber all have an effect on how the car performs.

When they turn up at Snurfen Acres, I'll have one evening set aside just for writing a report on all cars - give them a little warm up, clean the tyres with a wet sponge, then give them five clean consecutive laps - if they come off, I'll start the count again. will be able to feed back on what is needed to get a smooth consistent laptime with each, hopefully.

then I'll drop all the ones that are better than mine on the concrete floor ;o) (won't really)
