Final Round Wrc And Historic Shelmore Hillclimb

Recommended Posts

Stage one has been completed and some very different results. Many of the cars are starting to show wear and tear of along series.

Several cars have rear tyre problems with out of round tyres, unglued tyres or just worn out.

003728.jpg

Fabians SCX was still good and was easy to drive even thought is sound like a straight cut mini gearbox!

The Grandkids Pug is bouncing due to out of round tyres, seems they have come unglued.

OTFS rear tyres are starting to come loose on the rim and actually came off the rim with during the last lap.

b_232812.jpg

Charles Subaru is also suffering from ouf of round rear tyres and also the rear diff is very noisy, hopefully it will last the next stage.

Rossco's car would just no go around the uphill hair pin.

Team Red also had a rear tyre come off the rim, twice during this stage.

Must be a Sydney thing or soft MJK's!

Boss 302 Focus actually went reasonably well on this track.

Unlike My SCX WRC Focus!

Stage 2 results tonight or Sunday.

That's strange my track would have the tightest

Hairpin out of all the tracks but I was sort of expecting results like this anyways so thanks

I'll be watching with anticipation on the overall results......

Rossco the problem with the tight hairpin is that it has a flat section between two 90 degree corners, think I may fill and reroute before next year, afew of our club SCX cars had problems last Tuesday.Only seems to be in one direction.

Stage 2 of the WRC cars has been completed.

Craigs car again suffered from the other rear tyre rolling off the rim twice,May just be time for some new MJK's!

b_233137.jpg

Rossco,s car was much better in this direction getting thru the NOW up hill hair pin much better.

b_232855.jpg

Fabians still sounded crap, but ran well,I think the gear probably need replacing.

b_232918.jpg

Charles crown gear is shot,BUT completed the stage.New tyres and gear for next year,I wonder how this car would have finished had the tyres not come loose? It did have a bit of oversteer coming out from under the bridge.

b_232632.jpg

AMCC still bouncing with out of round rears.

Alexi's Subaru was bottoming out over the rough bridge section.

b_233019.jpg

b_233214.jpg

Plenty of grunt,BUT a little light for this track and conditions, would de slot with the slightest hit on the scenery.

b_233245.jpg

Peters second entry an SCX with long car needs a bit more work, the power comes on very quickly making it a bit hard to drive smooth.

b_003625.jpg

Mivesons car suffered from rear end bounce and axle tramp.

b_233000.jpg

My Lancer was built and tuned on this track and it showed, still nice round tyres!

I think the cars are just tired,I think several may have not been rebuilt since last years event.

233725.jpg

b_171559.jpg

When the final times were collated My lanver was the fastest, from Mels Citreon and Fabians SCX version.

b_233827.jpg

Even with rear tyre problems Charles and AMCC managed a respectable finish.

I will wait for Mark to collate the results and reorder round 10,BUT I am pretty sure Craig (Team Red) has just manage to hold out Mel (OTFS) to win this years event from my Mistsubishi.

Now for the Historic cars ASAP.

Been a interesting class has WRC this year seems the car to have is a Ninco which is practically impossible to get here now , tried a Avant for a couple of years and it,s been pretty useless and they now seem to be disappearing and hard to get , so was wondering what to use if we run this again next season ? any ideas out there of a car or make that fits the rules :)

my advise, SCX body on printed chassis... kilslot or shapeways. This open a full range of car possible. I am trying to tune a DS3 for a year, it will come.

Second this,Kilslot to keep the cost down.It opens the window to a lot of SCX cars and it kind of levels the field

3d chassis you 2 have been down this road before trying to push this, and it does not level the field there are other chassis you can use as well , so how about the new Scaleauto cars with the inline pod then , can see another drawn out discussion that gets nowhere once again like so many we have already had many time over proxies, i, m fairly relaxed with the OZ as it is now do quite well in one class , and crap in the other class, over to the organiser see what he thinks..

Peter, with all the SCX support for rally car, it would be a shame not to promote this cheap kilslot chassis in line no pod which would allow to have more cars... i do not believe what i will say: less french ninco cars woudl be good.

Mr Gunn , Banter is good. This is the time to offer up ideas as this Proxy is now has coming to an end . It gives plenty of time to gear up for the next Oz Proxy. Yes sometimes it can go round and round but dont forget the organiser is trying to please everybody and thats no mean feat. What suits me doesnt mean it will suit you or the others . I havent used any of these printed chassis's nor do I not have any Avant or Scale Auto's in my garage so would be interested in any info. Thats my 5 cents worth anyway.

Cheers Craig

Congrats to the podium guys in the Raid class i don't do raid myself but always have a look to see whats going on seems fairly close at the top there, congrats to the top three in WRC really pulled away from the rest of us and Team Red opened up a gap at the end , see my 6th place is the highest non Ninco car 19 points between the Scoobie and the 5th placed car , looks like 6th 7th and 8th were very close indeed seems to have been a long series this year also for the people running it many thanks to those who lend out their tracks to us all to try our cars on always appreciate the time and the effort.

Not sure what next year will bring think my entries have had their day and not sure where to go from here have a couple of ideas in mind but will have to wait and see what the organisers are thinking.

Congrats to Mel and Phil for the WRC Podium Am happy with the WRC finish. First ever Proxy win in a class . May have to glue the tyres on next time :o

.Congrats to Amcc , Codes and Rossko for the Raids Podium. Raids was close for a while but dropped away , but hey thats slot car racing. May have to tour tassie and go for a little ride to Shelmore Park to see how to beat the owner on his own track :o:D . Thanks Phil for all that you;ve done for this Proxy, it is most appreciated. Thanks to the other hosts and also to you guys that make the field . I,ll comment again when the Historics are posted,

Cheers Craig

Craig the easy thing is getting any car to work on your own track, hard thing is getting it to work well on all the other tracks in the series.

Stage one of the Historic cars has been completed.

234056.jpg

Some of the action from Stage 1

b_002504.jpg

Fastest on this stage, back on the pace on home soil.

b_002053.jpg

Home did not help Bruce's Escort very much!

b_002151.jpg

Nice smooth car just lacking grip.

b_002309.jpg

Mels Porsche seems like it has out of round tyres.

b_003021.jpg

IMO this car is just too light, any slight hit on the scenery and it deslots.

b_002326.jpg

I thought this one may be a bit wide but the good handling help it on this stage.

b_002438.jpg

The other Pug that was on the podium.

Now for stage 2 and to see if the pugs and Lancia can hold off those MSC cars.

Stage 2 of the Historic cars was completed and this stage had a couple of different results.

235338.jpg

b_002802.jpg

Rossco's Metro was much happier in this direction, and I think its Stage time may could have been a little better had I not been so cautious in the first two laps.

Alexis's Pug also went well in the stage.

b_002909.jpg

Rusty's Porsche was fast but was very hard to keep off the scenery.

b_002944.jpg

Miveson Lancia needs a bit more development, very bouncy.

b_002225.jpg

The Grandkids Lancia is reasonable BUT also needs some more development.

b_002348.jpg

Rear tyres certainly did not improve for this stage, they are way out of round due to becoming unglued.

b_002833.jpg

Keiths RS200 seems to be very light,I wonder if some of the weight has fallen out some where?

b_235508.jpg

Final Total Results

b_235748.jpg

Podium for this round.

I do not think the results made much difference to the overall series results.

I will for Mark to collate the points BUT I am sure Keith ( Peter Gunn) has maintained his lead from Rossco (Gas41t) and Michael ( Rusty Shadow). Making it an all MSC Podium.

Looks like the rest of us need to do some more work.

Not a MSC on the podium at Shelmore see they are beatable congrats to the pods , think this is my best result on this track have no idea why year after year the RS does not like the track , been running this car for 2 years and it is due for retirement now , been working on it,s replacement for the last 3 months and the new car looks good it,s smoother, quicker having the Ninco 5 speeder plus motor in it ( the one with the candy stripe blue silver paper on it ).and heavier, have to wait and see what comes up as regards next year though

Thanks Phil plus helpers.

Congrats to the podium spots.

P.s. As for hard to keep off the scenary, is that a reflection on size, grip, or both?

Thanks to Phil for organising this great proxy and congratulations to all participants and especially to the winners. It seems that both my cars were bottoming out on most occasions,a lesson to use next year.Looking foward to the next one(hopefully permitting the

entry to single piece 3d printed chassis in historics :) -its the only chance for that Team Slot Alfa GTA or that SCX Skoda Octavia to race)
