kalbfellp
To try and save any further confusion the Raid Results and Round reports will be posted separate to the WRC and Historic. While boss 302 has the WRC and Historic cars for their Penultimate Round on the Bat Florio Hillclimb the Raids remained here at Shelmore for their penultimate Round of the event. The only changes since last year and to the scenery. So time are comparable. Stage 1 has been run and did not produce ant real surprises a part for Shadow Rusty's SCX Raid finding it almost impossible to get around two of the very tight corners. The combination of long guide lenght and the Ninco guide made the car slower than it was in almost standard for last year. Charles winner from last year seems to have regained it momentum.Mivesons Bowler was also fast over the top section resulting in a good time. The Avant Lancer ran away to hide from the rest at it tends to do when the tracks suit it. The rest were very close, Craigs was a little slow over the top section. Stage 2 and pics will follow very soon. Edited May 9, 2017 by kalbfellp Quote Phil https://www.hobartminiaturecarclub.com/ Email
I Am The Walrus
Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Having seen photos of this track i realise mine will be a distant second. You've basically already made what I was hoping to achieve - but only better. What is the footprint of this beauty? Is the track routed mdf? kalbfellp
Yes routed 9mm MDF 3.6 x 1.2. If you look back thru the earlier years of OZ Rally you will find some very early pics as it has talked several years to do the scenery! kalbfellp
A great field of Raids: Some of the on track action: Interesting but very hard to drive and get good laps. Great looking car BUT long guide lead and Ninco Pro Race guide caused problems on the tight corners. Very smooth car, probably the easiest to drive. this one needs more development Charles always a surprise, fast but a bit loose. Not sure what was the problem with Fabians, maybe a bit more weight. This one should be great next year! Very good car just lacked grip and a little speed over the top. Good car, smooth But a bit tippy on the limit all the time. What can I say about the Avant, class of the field on this track. kalbfellp
Stage 2 of the Raids in the reverse direction has been completed. The Lancer was a blast this year and the problems for last year seem to have been sorted. Codes tippy Pajero managed to head Charles Bowler this time. While I was cleaning and checking the cars ready to pack for Boss 302 and the final round on Bat Florio I did notice that Craigs car has a wheel that had come a bit loose so that may account for the poor performance this round.Second loose wheel, the other one was reglued before Stage 1. Hopefully both will be O/K now for the final. Bat Florio could produce some rather different results, the track surface is very uneven and it has a couple of very tricky corners.
