gazza
This topic should have been one of, if not the first topic added to this years event ......... sorry about that. With the weather being very English for the last couple of weeks, and even worse forecast for this and next week, we can't wait any longer. The moisture and humidity from so much rain has started to affect the grip level on my track and others. So with all the (wife's not watching) "old" blankets and towels layed over the track, and both the ceiling fan and a pedestal fan going full bore, we should have a tolerable surface by Saturday. All the cars have had the official WRP door plates, with correct numbers fitted to all the cars. So if all goes good we will be looking for this Saturday the 25th of March Quote Quickly read this post before it is deleted or i turn grey again Gary http://www.facebook.com/Rallyproxy2017
gazza
Well what a total disaster Saturday turned out to be Should have known something was wrong at the start when both Craig and Mel turned up on time. The No 1 rally computer decided to give up the ghost after 3 cars had gone through, luckily it had been not feeling well a while back, so i arranged for Craig to bring up, the day before, an old one that'd been sitting on the sidelines, for the past 5 or 6 years, just waiting to get into the game. Trouble was those 5 or 6 years put it that far out of touch that it just sat in the foetal position in the corner whimpering. beer, In between this, Mel has shot home as he's only ten minutes away, and grabbed his track computer, after 4 coffees and christ only knows how many sticky buns latter (a lot of cake shops between Mel's and my place) he returns, plug it in ........... nothing, just crap all over the screen (possible video card failure) and it still has the same problem, went in and grabbed the road track computer, would not recognise the hard drive during start up, needed beer. All the above computers all run the 25 pin plug in the printer port, i've run the same thing for years and has never missed a beat, beer, the only thing we thought may be the problem with my two was the amount of moisture and condensation around after the weeks and weeks of rain we have had, hair dryers and fans will be brought out to see if that fixes things. A while back i had a laptop configured to take the Arduino system, but hadn't set it up on super stage that i had completed, so i followed detailed and simple instructions, and you guessed it ....... could not recognise system, needed this bullshite file downloaded more beer That's 5 computers in one day, has to be a world rally proxy record, oh and i forgot to mention while this was going on, the power to the track decided to go out in sympathy as well and took about an hour to come back and play, reason ......... Who F Knows So i have upgraded Craig's standby computer, SP3, more ram, latest version of RC, but has no sound and RC won't recognise the printer port, so more to do The rally is still on just may be delayed a week or so, need to stock up on beer for next weekend. kalbfellp
Gazza I know these things happen. We had 4 club computers go within 3 weeks last year. Mel has one of my spare Ardunio setup if that is any help, it is setup and ready to go. It's not the Arduino it self, it's the configuration on the laptop, keeps saying it needs an upgrade or enter this code, same as it's always done We'll work around it, it'll just take time Quote Quickly read this post before it is deleted or i turn grey again Gary http://www.facebook.com/Rallyproxy2017

shadow_rusty
Gazza, you will need to upload the arduino code found in the RC folder to the arduino itself using the generic arduino application. Once that is done, then RC can see the device and you can start to configure it... PS. Ben went through several arduinos before getting his working (which had nothing to do with the arduino's themselves)... PPS. And even then, his wiring harness failed during the ozrally proxy and he drove 200km's to pick up another from me... PPPS. I highly recommend fitting a scaley "ferrite man" to the sensor harness at the arduino end for each sensor. Ben_M
Yeah it's not fun when things go wrong on the big day. I normally do mine on days off work so it doesn't disrupt family life, and when things don't work on that one day it can be frustrating. But hey, in good news my car seemed to be going alright Quote Some slot (and MTB) vids NOW SHOWING

gazza
Good news ....... well sort of, Old faithful looks like it might want to play again after it's temper tantrum, albeit with 2 gig of ram shoved up it's working now doing a simulation race, we'll see if it's still running in the morning, still got another 2 gig to squeeze in between the cheeks If i can get a couple of less than 10 hour days, i might be able to get a few around the track.
