Mr Ford
Hi all , I have been asked by " The Ferret " to post race reports and results for Penrith Slot Car Centre each week . 16th March . V8 Supercars It was a really tight race at the top of the field with anyone of the top five more than capable of taking it out . Kenny who ran on Black first f, ound out the hard way that the connection harness had major faults and only completed the bracket by holding it to his controller lead but still had no brakes . Wazza also had a few issues which kept him from showing the true potential of the car . The real find of this race was Char who driving one of Wazzas old cars surprised everyone with his raw speed and consistency . He’ll be one to watch in the future . Bryan and Chris were as usual class acts . 8 of the top 10 cars were Falcons including 1st to 7th place . Of course!!! Results 1st Bryan 143 2nd Chris 140 3rd Kenny 139 4th Chook 138 5th Char 134 6th Wazza 132 7th Tim 127 8th Marc 126 9th Harry 107 10th Michael 99 11th MJ 76 DTM . All present breathed a sigh of relief as Gangster did not show up being sick with flu . If he had showed up it would most probably have been a race for second . As it was it was another victory for Bryan but he had to fight tooth and nail for it with Chook who more than kept him honest all race long . This race see sawed continually between the top 4 with Bryan finally just pulling clear of Chook in the closing stages . There was a good mix of brands with Ninco , Carrera and Scalextric all represented . Results 1st Bryan 145 2nd Chook 144 3rd Chris 142 4th Kenny 140 5th Wazza 133 6th Tim 132 7th Marc 131 8th Char 124 9th Michael 121 10th Rod 119 11th MJ 118 Open GT This was a tour de force for Bryan giving him a hat trick of victories for the night . He was simply in a class of his own with everyone else fighting for second place . Kennys car came good in the final two stages as his new tyres started to bed in but alas it was already way too late as the horse had well and truly bolted . This was easily the most emphatic win of the night with Brian basically having distinguished any serious threats by half race distance . It was really good to se Wazzas beautifully set up new McLaren BMW showing you do not need a Mosler to be competitive . Equally Chris was punching above his weight with an uncompetitive BMW Z4 . Half way through Bryan had his car delivered by Kennys towing service across the bonnet of his car after a crash in an un marshalled area of the track . Word is the invoice still hasn’t been payed !!! Results 1st Bryan 175 2nd Kenny 166 3rd Wazza 165 4th Chris 160 5th Marc 151 6th Char 144 7th Rod 140 8th Michael 139 9th Harry 138 10th Chook 87 All in all it was Bryans night walking away undefeated Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
23rd March Group 5 It was a tight race at the top of the field between Chook and Kenny . Chook had the edge and Kenny had a couple of disastrous brackets overdriving the car to try and stay with him . The difference between the two cars was not as big as the final 4 lap margin would suggest but as stated Kennys overdriving cost him any chance of challenging Chook for the win . The race for 3rd was even tighter with it being decided on footage as both Wazza and Steve finished on even laps Michael took out the honours in the father son derby triumphing over Marc by 3 laps , chalk one up for the old farts . 1st Chook 2nd Kenny 3rd Wazza 4th Steve 5th Rod 6th Michael 7th Marc 8th Tim 9th Harry 10th MJ Group C Chook once again drove a masterful race just edging out young Harry . Harry is a young guy who has both a real commitment and desire to win . It bodes well for the sport with guys like Harry coming up through the ranks . Kenny came third with a small gap to Bryan ahead of a really hard fought fifth place between Wazza and Steve with the honours just going to Wazza by one lap . Marc got even with Michael to avenge his loss in the Group 5 race . The Empire strikes back . 1st Chook 2nd Harry 3rd Kenny 4th Bryan 5th Wazza 6th Steve 7th Tim 8th Rod 9th Marc 10th Michael Porsche 907& 908 Chook once again too out the final race of the night in a total whitewash by a huge margin over the rest of the field . Very reminiscent of Bryans whitewash of the previous week in Open GT Wazza and Bryan had a Titanic battle for second only being decided on footage In the final analysis .going to Wazza by a bees dick . Kenny finished 4th closely beating Steve home by 2 laps . The father son battle was decided in Marcs favour with Marc taking victory over Michael by 8 laps 1st Chook 2nd Wazza 3rd Bryan 4th Kenny 5th Steve 6th Marc 7th Michael 8th Rod All in all it was unquestionably Chooks night although he did not have it all his own way as he had to fight tooth and nail for one of the victories over Harry . Mr Ford
March 30th DTM 2 Hour Enduro With 7 teams of 2 drivers facing the starters orders much conjecture was flowing about who would come out on top .Wazza after spending considerable time and much soul searching managed to sort out 2 chassis maladies on what was an already extremely fast car transforming it into what must be said was an absolute bullet making himself and Bryan virtually unassailable . The Ninco Benz made a mockery of every other car present marching away from all comers in the brackets in which it did not have issues . Kenny and Marc ran Wazzas second string car an SCX Audi driving the wheels off it and wringing its neck in a vain attempt to keep up , sadly all to no avail . They were there when the Benz had issues but otherwise were simply out classed . Chris and Michael rounded out the podium driving Chris’s Carrera BMW meaning we had a father and son ( Michaela and Marc ) on the podium albeit in different teams . Poor gangster must have had an off night or car problems as he is usually the man to beat in this class bringing up fourth place with Char in his Carrera Audi only 22 laps behind his father . Poor Chook and Steve could not take a trick having numerous car dramas which subsequently cost them any chance of challenging for the win . Tim and Rod and Harry and MJ rounded out the race in sixth and seventh respectively . 1st Wazza and Bryan 2nd Marc and Kenny 3rd Chris and Michael 4th Gangster and Char 5th Chook and Steve 6th Tim and Rod 7th Harry and MJ . Mr Ford
April 6th V8 Supercars This race was closer than the results would suggest with several front runners hitting major dramas , most notably Gangster who had one disastrous 2 lap bracket and one 8 lap bracket effectively ending any chances he had of a potential victory . Kenny never really looked threatened but that is not to say he did not have to work for it . His car was far from the fastest in a straight line but stuck to the track like s#!t to a blanket . His philosophy of using a motor which even when you rang the cars neck would not break out certainly paid dividends . Chris , Chook and Wazza kept him honest and he only needed to hiccough and one of them would have pounced . Special mention goes to James in his first ever V8 Supercars race coming a very creditable 9th . 1st Kenny 2nd Chris 3rd Chook 4th Wazza 5th Steve 6th Tim 7th Char 8th Marc 9th James 10th Harry 11th Gangster 12th Michael 13th MJ DTM Kenny took out this race in a very dominant display of overwhelming car superiority resulting in a crushing victory . He drove Wazzas Ninco Mercedes Benz which took out the previous weeks 2 hour enduro as Wazza chose to drive his SCX Audi ( which coincidentally came second in Kenny and Marcs hands in the previous weeks DTM enduro ) to get to terms with what is a new car to him . The Benz was simply in a class of its own leaving the former dominant driver in this class Gangster and his Audi in its wake . Wazza and Chris had a ding dong battle finally being decided in Wazzas favour by only 1 lap . Solid performances were recorded by Rod , Char , Chook , Steve and Tim . Again special mention goes to James driving a car borrowed from Kenny in his first ever DTM race . If he had worried more about winning and not handing Kenny back a car in one piece he would have done much better . 1st Kenny 2nd Gangster 3rd Wazza 4th Chris 5th Rod 6th Char 7th Chook 8th Steve 9th Tim 10th Michael 11th James 12th Marc 13th Harry 14th MJ Open GT This was open for anyone to win a Bryan did not show up . Kenny as usual used his Ninco Mosler against a sea of NSR Moslers and a couple of NSR Porsches and BMW’s and Wazzas beautiful Slot IT McLaren BMW . It was very close and intense race with the top four only separated by 5 laps . Gangster drove the absolute wheels of his Porsche but sadly could not overcome Kennys Mosler and 3rd and 4th between Harry and Wazza was only decided on footage in what was a race long duel which saw it ebb and flow between the two of them . Chris did not figure sadly as ,he like his son gangster in V8 Supercars had two absolute disastrous brackets scoring 0 and 1 lap respectively . 1st Kenny 2nd Gangster 3rd Harry 4th Wazza 5th Marc 6th Rod 7th Chook 8th Char 9th Michael 10th MJ 11th Steve 12th Chris All in all it was Kennys night but he well and truly had to fight for two of the victories . Excluding the DTM Enduro this is the third clean sweep by a driver in the last 3 nights racing . Lets see if this tradition continues next week . Make sure to tune into the results next week to find out . Same BAT Time same BAT Channel . Yours in Slot Cars , The FERRET ! Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
Hi all , Apologies for lack of posts of late . Holidays and other issues prevented me . Catch up time April 13th Porsche 907/908 Another benefit for Chook and his ultra rapid Porsche with a fiercely fought battle for the minors between Wazza , Gangster and Kenny finishing in that order . The race for the minors was transfixing with each of the three combatatnts fortunes ebbing and flowing from bracket to bracket . 1st Chook 141 2nd Wazza 136 3rd Gangster 135 4th Kenny 134 5th Chris 128 6th Michael 100 7th Marc 100 Group C Another victory for Chook but only just this time . Gangster kept his honest for the entire race breathing down his neck the whole way and it could have gone either way right up until the last bracket . Kenny took third but was never really in the hunt for more than that . Definitely not in the same league as Chook and Gangster . Young Harry is really starting to get the hang of his Porsche and will definitely be a threat in the future finishing fourth . Chris and Wazza had a close fight the whole race long eventually being decided in Chris’s favour by 2 laps . 1st Chook 135 2nd Gangster 134 3rd Kenny 132 4th Harry 129 5th Chris 125 6th Wazza 123 7th Marc 121 8th Michael 117 9th Tim 115 Group 5 This was another whitewash for Chook who was in a class of his own once again with his rapid BMW M One . Second was once again an indescribably intensely fought out affair between Chris and Kenny with neither giving an inch or flinching with it going in Chris’s favour by mere footage . It was an absolute pleasure to watch the two of them going at it hammer and tongs and seeing as Chook had cleared out this is where the real interest was in the race . Tim came a very creditable 4th and had some bad luck as his car was better than a 4th place car . 1st Chook 147 2nd Chris 139 3rd Kenny 139 4th Tim 136 5th Wazza 133 6th Marc 129 7th MJn 127 8th Michael 126 9th Harry 123 10th Gangster 122 11th James 117 “ Lets see if this tradition continues next week . “ Guess what it did with another lock out by Chook . Clean sweeps seem to becoming a tradition on Thursday nights at Penrith don’t they . Edited June 18, 2017 by Mr Ford Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
April 20th Finally 3 different winners in 3 classes and some disasters for some drivers . 1/24th Scaleauto This turned out to be a father and son affair with Chris and Gangster going at it all race long with the difference being only .3 of a lap per bracket . Wazza had by far the fastest car but also had bad luck as did Michael , Char , Marc and Kenny who coud not take a trick and was heard to say if it rained nymphomaniacs he would be hit by a lesbian . This is an exciting class albeit a demo derby of one too . 1st Chris 131 2nd Gangster 129 3rd Wazza 113 4th Michael 38 5th Char 34 6th Marc 26 7th Kenny 20 Muscle Cars This was a master class by Gangster with is rapid Jim Hall Chaparral Camaro . Wazza was a very creditable 2nd and 3rd to 7th was covered by only 5 laps and provided the real interest in the race . Kennys Dodge is still being rebuilt so his Mustang was again pressed into service but alas it is but a mere shadow of the mighty winged Dodge Charger Daytona which is so big it has it’s own postcode . Tim again ran his unique ( to say the least ) Mustang much to everyones amusement . 1st Gangster 136 2nd Wazza 132 3rd Chris 130 4th Michael 129 5th Char 129 6th Marc 128 7th Kenny 127 8th James 118 9th Rod 116 10th Tim 116 11th Harry 109 12th MJ 93 Scalextric Rally This was a Kenny benefit with his ultra rapid Martini Ferrari 308 GTB . Wazza has seen the light and bought another Ferrari 308 joining Kenny and Chook at the sharp end . Once he get it sorted out he will no doubt be up there with both Chook and Kenny in what is rapidly becoming Formula Ferrari . MJ provided much needed levity running his Mini Cooper S whos all 4 tyres would be lucky to be as wide as one of the rear tyres on Kennys Ferrari and it is about half as wide and half as long a wheelbase . 1st Kenny 146 2nd Wazza 140 3rd Gangster 131 4th Rod 128 5th Chris 127 6th Marc 123 7th Char 122 8th James 121 9th Tim 117 10th Michael 112 11th Brett 107 12th Harry 61 13th MJ 27 A great night was had by all with lots of bad luck but equally lots of laughs too . Mr Ford
13-07-2017 1/24th Scaleauto The usual crash em up bash em up melee played out once again in 1/24th Scaleauto with the only one left standing being Bryan who drove masterfully to avoid the maelstrom going on all around him to a well deserved victory . The less said about the rest the better . 1st Bryan 111 2nd Kenny 82 3rd Gangster 67 4th Marc 62 5th Wazza 34 6th Michael 21 BTCC Gangster held a master class in precise driving to pilot his rapid Passat to a decisive victory over Kenny who to be honest just was not in the same class as Gangster . For that matter no one else was either . The real battle was for 2nd to 5th with only 3 laps covering the 4 places and could have gone in favour of any one of the 4 protagonists right up to the death . The Mickey mouse track BTCC is run on is a real challenge to drive separating the men from the boys . 1st Gangster 111 2nd Kenny 100 3rd Marc 99 4th Wazza 99 5th Bryan 97 6th Rod 87 7th Michael 83 8th James 72 Group 5 This was one of the closest fought races that Penrith Slot Car Centre has ever seen and is ever likely to see . Sadly it is not reflected in the laps as Tim came off a few times in his indescribably intense battle with Kenny . For most brackets no more than 2 feet separated their two cars with the lead swapping on an almost lap by lap basis . If ever Slot cars are to be televised this was a race that would have all viewers on the edge of their seats . Kenny was heard to say after the race that he had left absolutely nothing on the table and had not had to drive that hard and permanently on the limit for a long long time . Bryan kept Tim honest in the closing stages but it would have been grossly unfair if he had passed him as Tim had kept Kenny totally honest for the entire race . This race is what Slot car Racing is all about . It was a genuine pleasure to witness it . 1st Kenny 223 2nd Tim 213 3rd Bryan 209 4th Gangster 208 5th Wazza 205 6th Rod 199 7th Marc 181 8th James 170 9th Michael 159 Yours in Slot Cars The Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
20-07-2017 BTCC Yet another total domination by Gangster and his rapid Passat was witnessed by all in the BTCC race . He is getting to make winning a habit and all the rest are going to have to lift their games substantially to live with him . He definitely has a feel for the Mickey Mouse circuit that no one else seems to have . Poor Harry was actually quite substantially quicker than Kenny but had tremendous amount of bad luck which impeded his progress . 1st Gangster 161 2nd Kenny 153 3rd Harry 146 4th Steve 143 5th Chris 141 Muscle Cars This was the debut of Kennys new Dodge Charger Daytona whos building was necessitated by the total destruction of his original one . All the lessons he learnt from the old one were integrated into the new one and it handles so well and gets its power down so effectively it was capable of breaking out on every lap including the initial standing start lap so a new slower motor is going to have to be found quickly . In the final bracket he broke out on every single lap testing just what he could coax out of it . Bryan took out the race in his gorgeous Allan Moffat Brut 33 XB Coupe from Steve in his Camaro with Tim filling out the place getters in a very creditable third . Poor Harry had an absolute disaster with his car lasting only one lap . 1st Bryan 168 2nd Steve 160 3rd Tim 152 4th Gangster 148 5th Rod 144 6th Chris 141 7th Kenny 141 8th Harry 1 Yours in Slot Cars The Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
27-07-2017 BTCC Gangster had a lacklustre night as for the first time since he got his Passat as he was off the pace much to Kennys delight . The race for the minors very quickly descended into low farce with wholesale good spirited cheating going on . Evidently both Bryan and Steve know a short cut which halved their lap times . Rod sadly had a disaster with a mysterious malady afflicting his car leading to him pulling out mid last bracket . 1st Kenny 139 2nd Gangster 128 3rd Tim 116 4th Marc 114 5th Bryan 112 6th Rod 105 7th Steve 104 8th Michael 92 Open GT Another incredibly closely fought race was the order of the day and lot closer than Kennys winning margin would suggest . This had a level of intensity close to that of Kennys and Tims battle 2 weeks prior in group 5 . The ONLY reason Kenny ended up with the winning margin he did was due to the other protagonists for the victory taking each other out in the dog eat dog take no prisoners fight they were engaged in . It was nice to see cam make a return to racing too . 1st Kenny 224 2nd Bryan 219 3rd Marc 218 4th Rod 216 5th Tim 212 6th Steve 206 7th Gangster 201 8th Michael 189 9th Cam 181 Scalextric Rally Gangster was driving his dads Ferrari finally with the correct rear tyres and its performance jump instantly breached the gap to Kennys Ferrari in one fell swoop and he and Kenny traded blows all race long with it finally falling Kennys way but ONLY just . This now makes 5 Ferrari 308’s that are all roughly on the same pace with the exception of James’ one which is noticeably quicker than the other 4 . One thing is for sure , if you want to win in Scalextric rally you have to be in a Ferrari . 1st Kenny 184 2nd Gangster 183 3rd Rod 169 4th Steve 155 5th Bryan 125 6th Marc 121 7th Tim 119 8th Michael 111 Yours in Slot Cars The Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
August 3/08/2017 V8 Supercars A titanic tussle at the head of the field was a treat to watch with Wazza , Chris and Steve trading blows all race long . Unfortunately for Steve he had one disastrous 22 lap bracket and lost at a minimum of 7 laps which would have seen he being an easy victor . From third it was daylight to fourth being a full 15 laps down . 1st Wazza 176 2nd Chris 173 3rd Steve 171 4th Michael 156 5th Kenny 153 6th Gangster 152 7th Marc 142 8th Bryan 141 9th James 128 BTCC Woo Hoo rain damage to the Mickey Mouse track saw everyone finally able to unleash their cars on the routed track and truly see what they are capable of . And boy are these things QUICK and with those magnets handle like they are on rails . All were heard to say what an absolute pleasure it was to run on a track where they could explore the limits of the cars . Kenny ran away and hid but the real interest was for second place with an incredibly intense race long duel been Bryan and Rod with the honours finally going to Bryan but ONLY just from Rod who put up a spirited challenge and kept Bryan honest all race long . Gangster was a shock last place experiencing no end of troubles with his normally rapid Passat , no doubt he will make a victorious return in due course . 1st Kenny 223 2nd Bryan 216 3rd Rod 215 4th Steve 181 5th Marc 175 6th Chris 172 7th James 154 8th Michael 141 9th Gangster 73 Yours in Slot cars The Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
August 10/08/2017 DTM This was once again a Wazza benefit with his ultra rapid Mercedes totally outclassing the field . I suspect he was sandbagging a bit too only going as fast as he had to to maintain a comfortable gap . Gangster and Rod filled the minor placings with Kennys new ( OLD ) Ninco Alfa 155 experiencing the same problems as Wazzas Mercedes when it was new and was involved in a struggle with both Chris and Tim for fourth place . 1st Wazza 201 2nd Gangster 193 3rd Rod 185 4th Kenny 181 5th Chris 175 6th Tim 174 7th Steve 153 8th MJ 147 9th Marc 147 10th Michael 141 11th Harry 140 Group C Kenny finally put a 23K motor in his old Mazda 787B and it paid immediate dividends powering him to a narrow victory over Gangster , Wazza and Harry . He and Harry had some absolutely Titanic battles and Harry actually had his measure but suffered from a couple of unfortunate offs most of which he was an innocent victim in . 1st Kenny 206 2nd Gangster 199 3rd Wazza 197 4th Harry 195 5th Michael 180 6th Rod 174 7th Marc 169 8th Chris 168 9th Tim 163 10th Steve 154 BTCC Back to the Mickey Mouse track we went this week its flood damage having been rectified from the previous week . And as well as a return to this track we also saw a return of Gangsters Passat to being a front runner once again. We knew it would not be long from the previous weeks aberration. he well and truly kept Kenny honest the whole race long . Wazza and Chris also had a titanic battle for 3rd and 4th and an even more intense battle for 5th to 10th between Rod , Marc , Harry , Steve , Tim and Michael . 1st Kenny 118 2nd Gangster 114 3rd Wazza 105 4th Chris 103 5th Rod 98 6th Marc 95 7th Harry 94 8th Steve 93 9th Tim 91 10th Michael 91 11th MJ 74 Yours in Slot Cars The Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was . Mr Ford
August 17/08/2017 1/24th Scaleauto John made un unexpected return to racing on a Thursday night which was most welcome . So good to see him again . For the first time 1/24th was run on the 1/32nd track and given the minute separation it was envisaged it would be pure carnage . Nothing could have been further from the truth with virtually no crashes , certainly a lot less than on the big track also partially due in no small part to the much slower terminal speeds . Wazza cleaned up with his BMW beating gangster in his BMW followed by Kenny and Chris who were only separated by less than a lap . Marc entertained all with his drifting Datsun . 1st Wazza 225 2nd Gangster 218 3rd Kenny 211 4th Chris 210 5th Steve 200 6th Bryan 191 7th Tim 139 8th Marc 99 9th Michael 25 Group 5 This was indescribably hard fought and was tight all race long between Kenny , Bryan , Wazza , Chris , Tim and Gangster . Kenny went into the final bracket with a relatively comfortable lead but crash after crash after crash soon saw him fighting for his life and the win . In the end he just beat Bryan by less than a lap with wazza hot on both their heels . Chris and Tim were only separated by footage at the end and only marginally ahead of Gangster . 1st Kenny 218 2nd Bryan 217 3rd Wazzza 215 4th Chris 211 5th Tim 211 6th Gangster 207 7th John 194 8th Marc 170 9th Michael 161 10th Steve 94 BTCC Again an indescribably close fought battle between Chris , Kenny and Gangster . Chris got his set up just right and it instantly propelled him to the sharp end . He and Kenny were never separated by more than a bees dick the whole race long finishing on the same lap with only footage separating them , gangster had a bit of bad luck which saw him fall ever so slightly off the pace of the lead two . John did and incredible job in the only car in the field with NO magnets . 1st Chris 84 2nd Kenny 84 3rd Gangster 82 4th Wazza 72 5th Bryan 67 6th Steve 66 7th John 61 8th Marc 60 9th Michael 58 Yours in Slot Cars the Ferret Quote The older I get the faster I was .
