Round 6 Casula Rally

Recommended Posts

Round 6 is off and running ...... first up Raids

Layout%20Ozrally%202017%20Raid_zpsz50onkod.jpg

I'll be running 3 stages of 7 laps for each class this year

The stages should be nice and quick if there isn't any problems ........ silly me.

Saying that the track is nice and warm is an understatement.

Some of the action

Most cars suffered on the hairpin loosing anything from half to a couple of seconds each time it came off

Some cars could not negotiate the corner even once - 7 laps = 7 seconds (min)

Some were way over engineered, the mini for example, way too much going on under the body, instead of a simple motor and gear

And as you can see, the one belt system keeps the front axle twisted and pulling against it's self

Stage 2 results up after it snows

Ahh the 'little' Mini...

Yep, there is a fair bit of engineering under that shell.

Nice to see my home made belt still running...

Unfortunately, Dyl gave up assisting in it's tuning once it was remotely drivable.

Well that, just plain running out of time, meant that it's not the best...

It does have potential, but I think that the body is just far too heavy to get it running as nice as a smooth Ninco...

I think there is a lot more work to even get close to a ninco

As for the belt ....... it's just hanging in there .... just

Thanks Gazza and helpers for getting this round completed, in Dakar conditions!

I must stop letting the kids help prepare and have first pic of cars to enter!

Good to see Charles still at the top of the entrants.

Now looking forward to see what different results Craig's track produces.

Whoa, my car is going super fast in reverse...

Any wonder it's terrible in forwards.

I was just thinking how much difference there is with car performance between my track (MP) Gazza's Casula Track and Team Reds Minto rally track.

A quick description IMO is - MSP is a fast, smooth with twisty and straight, Casula is for more undulated with some undulations in sharp corners as well

The Minto track is somewhere in between MSP and Casula.

For a bit of fun I have estimated the finishing order of the Raid Cars at the next 7th Round using round 5 (MSP) and 6 (Minto) results. Bare in mind good cars can have bad luck

on any track and others can have some good luck.

My navel gazing prediction for the Minto track round for the Raids

(Craig will no doubt make a fool of me :P:D :D :D )

1st car #1

2nd car #10

3rd car #7

4th Car #2

5th Car #3

6th Car #5

7th Car #6

8th Car #9

9th Car #4

10th Car #8

No doubt, you've got him finishing 3rd on his own track.

Round 6 Classics ....... Stage 1

Layout%20Ozrally%202017%20Classics_zpsgkqzyzqy.jpg

Most of the field were very close and enjoyable to run

All the field had problems with the hairpin, some once or twice over the whole round, some every lap

The three 037's had there own rally within a rally

Some entered the same cars with the same results

Others needed a helping hand .........

Fabian's Alpine arrived at my track with one rear tyre eaten away, (see video) which prevented it from competing, The decision was made by race organisers to see if i could replace the rear tyres and get it up and running again, the only tyres of the same diameter i could find were a old set of Ninco F1 tyres which needed to be slightly modified to fit the rims, i also had to remove one of the screws holding the motor in place, as a non standard motor had been installed and the alignment holes were slightly out causing the motor to sit at a slight angle which scraped the track.

30%204_zpswdqmd71p.jpg

All this frigging around took well over half a day and stopped any further racing on this stage which had to be completed the following weekend.

Any penalties are entirely up the the race organisers.

Gazza I know you don't think much of French cars, But the little emblem and the BIG writing in the front of Alexis and my cars seem to indicate it's a Peugeot!

Thank you for all the effort with Fabians Alpine, he has to be forgiven he is French too!

Those Lancia are very wide and not as easy to set up as other Ninco's.

Boss' s Escortbis where it belongs outback ready for collection!

Interesting little video there are those tyres MJK never seen them lift like that on hubs with lower K motors

You may also notice that the wheel that was affected was red and very sticky

It wasn't swollen, a third of the tyre had been "eaten away"
