Rounded Grub Screw. Any Solution?

hi guys,

 

i got a new car the other day, the Scale Auto GT one toyota. i put 2 small slot it style grub screws under the front axles, once they got in and i started to turn to set the axle they instantly rounded. i have tried many other tool and they they just spin in the screws. no resitance at all. any way of gettting them out?

 

i wouldnt car if it was a scrubber car, but this car is my pride and joy.

Take the axle out, put a drop of superglue on the Allen key put it in , let it set a few minutes and then wind it all the way through.

When finished dunk the allen key/screw in nail varnish remover and take the screw off


Outside the box looking in.

the glue trick didn't work, so I drilled out the dud screws in chassis...... enlarged the holes slightly, and installed NSR screws and problem solved.

Grub screws are not very good at cutting a thread...

In future, either run a tap through the hole, or, just screw in a long normal screw first...

i am just glad i got out of gaol, as this car is very special. Its my new baby.......

 

once i drilled out the holes to match the size of NSR screws, they went straight in and worked fine. i set the axle and they responded to minute adjustments ok.

 

its good to know that if it happens to anyone else, there is a get of out gaol card available.
