Hi All,

Round 2 action took place last night at Armchair Racer. 14 drivers took part in both the SCX Handicap and Scalextric GT classes. For those drivers who have parc-ferme sanctions imposed, it was like Christmas as we unboxed our new cars for the series. There was plenty of on track action as drivers got use to their new cars throughout the night.

In the SCX Handicap, Brooksy took out the win, completing 136.3 laps with his Audi R8 LMS. Second place went to Ian, his Mercedes SLS finishing up with 134.3 laps. rounding out the podium in a somewhat unfortunate way was John A, his Renault Sport RS rolling over the line to finish up with 129.0 laps. As a result, the top 3 drivers will now lose their magnet for the rest of the series. John VD and Stephen R rounded out the top 5, completing 128.9 and 128.0 laps respectively. These guys will be ones to watch next time out, for those still driving with a magnet.

In the Scalextric GT's there was plenty of action as drivers came to terms with the new class. Brooksy adapted to the conditions the best as he took out the win, his BMW Z4 completing 145.6 laps. John VD was home in second, his BMW Z4 finishing up with 141.2 laps. Fardin rounded out the podium, ending out the night with 140.1 laps also with a BMW Z4. Gregg and John A rounded out the top 5, finishing with 139.1 and 134.8 laps respectively.

The final round of the 2017 Armchair Racer Club Championship took place on Monday Night. We had a fantastic turnout, 9 teams of 2 drivers took part in the Host Class Team Endurance. The Slotworx Supercars were the nominated cars for the final round.

Going into the final round 2 drivers were in contention for the 2017 championship, John A and John VD. With only 4 points separating the two, whoever finished in front by nights end would be crowned champion.

To add some extra spice, fuel stops were added to the race. Teams had to think on their feet as they managed both fuel economy and race strategy. Which combination would prove successful by nights end?

The two championship contending teams consisting John A - Bryan H, John VD - Tony B jumped out the gate strong, as they battled for the race lead. Behind was a squabble amongst the rest as they settled into the grove. Jason B - George forgot about refueling, dropping down the order early. Joe Z - Mick Y were famalirising themselves with the Armchair Track in preperation for Saturday's Interclub Challenge, having a great battle with Stephen R. Further up the field. Ben - Gregg, and Stewart - Peter E teams found some clear space as they circulated in and out of various battles throughout the night. As the race progressed, some interesting pit strategies from Nigel - Nathan, as well as Ian - Peter J saw them climb the leaderboard as they battled it out amongst the lead group. With positions swapping throughout the brackets, this would build to an exciting finish.

In the end it was the duo of Nigel - Nathan that took out the victory, the 2 combining for an overall score of 771.7 laps. Ian - Peter J took out second place, the paring completing 768.3 laps. After some controller issues dropped them to as low as 5th, John A - Bryan H managed to claw back a podium finish, ending up with 766.2 laps. Gregg - Ben finishing behind in 4th with 764.8 laps, ahead of John VD an Tony B, 5th with 758.7 laps.

Overall, Nigel B took out the 2017 Host Class Championship with a combined total score of 204 points, Nigel took out 4 victories, winning with all 3 host class cars (SCX Nascar, Carrera DTM and Slotworx Supercars) . Ian R finished runner-up with 192 points and Tony B back in third position with 188 points.

After 21 Rounds, 5 Classes, 35 Races spanning over 10 Months, Our 2017 Armchair Racer Club Champion is John Amundsen. John produced another outstanding performance, especially in the second half of the year to take out this years championship. Finishing up with 8 Victories, and with the highest podium % rate of 57.1 amongst the top 10 contenders, John capped off the year with a combined total score of 555 points.
