Round 1 Shelmore Rally Park

Recommended Posts

With all the cars now here it is time to get things underway.

The Raids are the first up, we had a couple of drop outs and one added car of my granddaughters.

Scrutineering was soon underway

Only one car had a minor problem but that was easily sorted.

Stage one produced some interesting results with the kids Advant Lancer again leading the field, they are hoping the few alteration this year produce better results on other tracks.

Charles Bowler was the best of the rest and seems faster this year than what I rember of it from last yea.

My revised Ninco Lancer was third edging out Codes Pajero and Gas41t BMW. But very close time.

Shadow Rusty SCX performed well, not very far behind.

The Mini while very smooth just wanted to rollover all the time. Had to be very careful.

More soon.

Hi Phil and all.

Great to see all off to a good start. All times seem considerably faster than last year. Best improvement GasT41 -1.3secs.

Agree I made a much better start but extremely close. Should be a great competition.

Best of luck to everybody.

only two cars with the same livery... awesome... this is the thing for next year... we should make sure that each car is different :).

it looks like my buggy is on the slow side. First time in this serie, i have a lot to learn:).

Yep, that Mini will be a bit of a handful.

Dyl assisted a little with it's tuning, but once he could lap the track regularly with it, he kind of gave up.

Also, I think he wanted to run it purely because it's mostly green...

Happy with a mid pack finish on the under prepped SCX...

Hopefully, the motor will be close to run in by the time it returns...

Thanks for track info' Phil.

Good to know.

Still very happy with result as I have moved from 5th to 2nd. with an improvement of 1.2 secs. Rossco also went from 7th to a very very close 4th - only 0.12 secs behind me. Therefore too close to call. This is based on stats for only those who have competed in both years. Team Red was the only other competitor to improve by 1sec. The others all improving by 0.35 to 0.70sec

Hi Curef99.

Agree with Phil about weight. It can have a significant impact on performance. Also size of car can mean some are more likely to hit something. Some tracks are particularly narrow.

For the future my truck is about 120gms but others possibly quite a bit heavier. WRC and Historic tend to be around 105-110gms.

Do not be too disappointed though. Your time last year would have been about 5th as few cars broke 11secs.

Managed to get Stage 2 completed.

Charles Raid had a problem with one corner, lifting the rear wheel and de slotting,so had to be driven slow thru the at corner.

The kids Avant Lancer ran away and hide from the rest of the field, that car really suits this track.

b_234044.jpg

Not surprising the Grand kids Lancer finished this round of top.ahead of my rejected Pajero that the granddaughter entered! Picked the wrong car AGAIN.

I finished 3rd third But only just ahead of Ross and Charles, just look how close the total times are.

b_151304.jpg

This shot captures Charles Bowler lifting the rear wheel.Shame as it was fast on the rest of the track.

Certainly the next fastest to the Avant lancer.

b_151138.jpg

Probably the most interesting car in the field Dylan's Mini!

b_150817.jpg

Shadows Rusty's SCX was also very interesting and easy to drive, very well set up.

b_151018.jpg

Fastest on this tarck the Grand kids Advant Lancer

b_151240.jpg

Gas41t BMW

b_150751.jpg

The birthday boy's Tourag, much better car this year.

b_151731.jpg

Fabians Buggy.Possibly a bit light as it did not like any contact with the scenery.

b_151845.jpg

My Ninco Evo Mitsy making a return this year, hope it is better that last year?

b_151642.jpg

I rejected this Pajero and my Granddaughter decided to enter it.

She seemd to be able to pick and car and it beats me!

b_151211.jpg

Miversons Bowler with its rather bright wheels!

b_151620.jpg

These Raids are getting faster and easier to drive each year as we al learn more about setting them up.

Next up are the WRC cars!

I could not believe just how close the 3 cars were after 44 laps of the Rally track.

I did give all the Raids a couple of laps on the Hillclimb track, not letting anything out,but expect some very different results on the faster more open tracks.

Looks like it may be a very interesting series.

Thanks Phil and all.

Same result for me as last year but man was it close.

Pity about that one corner but truck still sounds good for series.

Congrats to podiumites but I does sound like the Phl and family show. We will have to do something about that.

Looking forward to next round.
