Is it worth installing one, or do they run well enough with out it. Both front wheels are wobbly. and As someone mentioned recently, the ryres are non grip type that allow car to skate around like on ice. They melt when sanded. Not liking this car much mr Scalextric. charlesx Posted September 24, 2016 Report Share Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Hi all. I am still trialling my BMW Z4 tyres but certainly the new compound is causing some problems. Generally though at least on our smooth tracks Scaly tyres on our standard classes grip real well when cleaned with water with a drop of detergent before race meeting and with sticky tape between races. At start they even have too much grip because track ios so clean. Suppose it depends how much work you are prepared to put in. Slot-it N22 are basically glue true forget. Those wheels certainly look nice but if I was allowed to change tyres think I would try to retain original plastic wheels initially. That has worked well with Aussie V8's and Slot-it N22's. kash15394 Posted September 24, 2016 Report Share Posted September 24, 2016 I put a PCR chassis and theSlot.it running gear in the BMW and have had enough of it.Apart from all the extra expense it seems like a good way to go but for me it turned a reasonable scaley car into an expensive average car.I tried different motor and tyre/wheel and gear combinations all to yield very average results To my mind not worth the extra expense as it went better with the standard running gear. Tazracer Posted September 24, 2016 Author Report Share Posted September 24, 2016 It all sounds like it runs pretty well with the standard chassis, along with the normal upgrading and trueing of tires, adding a bit of weight and loosening the screws. It certainly wouldn't be a direct fit/replacement as the body posts won't be the same but as the old saying goes, where there's a will there's a way. charlesx Posted September 25, 2016 Report Share Posted September 25, 2016 Hi all. Our Scaly standard GT class is just that. Same tyres and no weight. Chevrolet Corvette and Audi R8 are most popular although there are many others we have not tried. I believe Aston Martin may be good. Cars are supposed to be ones with full interior but not sure whether it makes any difference. Super resistant cars are certainly slightly lighter and cheaper. Have just had another go at BMW Z4. Tyres look better but I do not have a track to try. Might have to talk nicely to one of the track owners and have a test session.
