munter
After reading jphanna's thread thought I would kick off a thread dedicated to quotes that mean something to you....feel free to share yours. They could be specific to slotcars or life in general. Here is one I use sometimes..."It is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice" Call me a softy, a philosopher or a pain in the aris. Ratracer
Steve McQueen "Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." Parnelli Jones "If you are under control your're going too slowley "I've never retired. And I've never said, "I quit" Ayrton Senna "I have no idols. I admire work, dedication and competence" “On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.” Jeremy Clarkson “Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary… that’s what gets you.” Edited July 20, 2016 by Ratracer Quote As Parnelli Jones the Indy 500 winner once said "If you are not out of control you are not going fast enough!" 2017 Plafit FLM Edurance Champion Team Thunderbird

jphanna
i love the quotes mentioned, also historical quotes, and not all are racing related. What about CLINTONS famous......'i did not have sexual relations with that woman' also from that movie, When Harry met Sally.......'i'll have what she having' then you got that famous old school movie with Mae West......'is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me' on a serious note, i look at my racing peers, and i note what each ones specialty is, and i try and copy them into a one stop shop of great tricks. that is where i get a lot of my real inspiration from in racing circles. I Am The Walrus
Perhaps not quite what you were after, but I've always liked the following... bov
To me - this is an inspirational quote: Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. Jake: Hit it. As a philosophy - I'll go with "No where to go, and all day to get there..." 1 Quote Cheers, Tony. There's only two questions: 1. What direction do you go 2. What's the Lap Record? Garry J
Various sources, possibly none of these can be classified as "Inspirational", but "Inspired" might serve - "I like children, but I can't eat a whole one" (a variation of a W C Fields quote. I used this at the local fruit shop recently, very satisfying to see the horrified look on the little terrorists mother) "I was married by a judge, I should have asked for a jury" (Groucho Marx) "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it" (Groucho Marx) "I don't drink water, fish fornicate in it" (another variation of a W C Fields quote, somewhat sanitised. Fields actually said "poop", not the obvious alternative) "You can't teach a dog to walk on one leg" (Jimmy, a guy I used to work with, referencing the cerebral limitations of certain apprentices) "Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill" (unknown, from my signature) Edited July 21, 2016 by Garry J Quote Cheers, Garry J Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill
