Johnsxr8
Looking brilliant!  Thanks Tonka  Hey John, Is it an optical illusion or is that banked curve near vertical now.  Hi Grant. At its steepest it is halfway between horizontal and vertical. I got the idea for the bank from a track i raced on last year that is even steeper. I have sat cars on the corner as i was a little worried about the angle but even with MDF dust they dont fall off or slide down when sitting there so the should go through there no worries when flying down the straight  Cheers John Quote Check out North Brisbane Slotcar Racing: http://northbrisslots.forumotion.com

ZeGas
Bugger you and your building stuff John, You've given me getting that deadly building bug again. aaaarrrrchoooo! Think it might be a bad case this time. I pulled down the plastic fantastic in the weekend and now spent the day planning a rally track rather than working. Routed again this time, like you I have learnt a lot from my first one, and the two other starts that never really got off the ground. They were rather ambitious to say the least, so employing the KISS principle on this one. Hopefully this one will get off the ground. Anyway much more fun than working. Â Keep up the good work. Â Â Thanks mate, you wont regret pulling apart the plastic track, you have a nice size shed so it will be good to see what you come up with. Â I got all the Lane changers routed and most of the supports done now only 4 more to go then i can start the bogging the screw holes and joins. Also put some access holes into the tables where lane changers are so i can access them once the scenery is done. Johnsxr8
Almost have the bogging part completed just have to sand the back straight and around the bank and touch up a couple of spots then it should hopefully have some Undercoat on by the weekend. For me the hardest parts are now done and things should progress along at a quicker rate as i will be able to do some work on it of a night time without annoying the neighbours. Johnsxr8
Track is now undercoated and first coats of track colour have now gone on, i can be a little rough with the first few coats as these are the coats with iron powder mixed in the paint to give the 1/32 plastic chassis cars a mild magnatraction. I will make the edges much neater when putting the final coats without the iron powder. Johnsxr8
Thanks Grant. Yeah should be able to enter pits at a high speed, pit exit shouldn't be too slow as its not as tight a radius as the pit exit on the old track Quote Check out North Brisbane Slotcar Racing: http://northbrisslots.forumotion.com
Johnsxr8
Copper taping now done. I will do some soldering this afternoon and tonight and by the end of the night i should be able to take a car for a test run. No lane changers will be working till at least the end of this week and i may still be sorting them early next week. While i have this week off work i will start getting the important boundaries cut and fitted ready for first racemeet to keep the cars from hitting the ground. I will probably have another post in the next few days with some video footage of a car driving. Johnsxr8
Thanks Grant i had no idea how to embed it. I love the bank it works just as i want most cars get through there flat but i just launched my Fly Truck and Tinplate Ferrari into the back wall lol. Ive done more laps since and the track is starting to grip up and it is awesome better than what i expected and a change from the old track. I'm glad i bit the bullet and made the change, now to finish the lane changers and start on the borders for the rest of this week. And yes its a Nascar Truck body fitted to a DPR Scalextric Nascar Chassis and we let it run in Nascar as it pulls similar times to the standard bodied cars.
