OK - here are the RAID qualifying times. I wouldn't read too much into them as the track got progressively better during the session.

Dylan 13.877

Rusty Shadow 14.073

AMCC 14.114

Gas41T 14.551

Boss302 14.619

KalbfellP 14.653

CharlesX 14.765

Ben M 14.919

Aquakiwi 15.144

Miveson 15.232

Team Red 18.519

Some general comments

TeamRed - absolutely no grip. I cleaned the tyres a couple of times but to no avail. Will try again before Heat 1

Aquakiwi - Suprised that the car handles quite well with the big wheels and tyres - BUT - the guide is too long and the car bogs down on tight corners as the guide fights the slot. Could be much faster with a shorter guide.

AMCC - Rear tyres are worn down quite a lot - would fit nicely on a Fiesta or something similar!

Ben M - Think your gear mesh is a bit second hand. Little bit rough and rattly.

Gas41T - very surprised at the smoothness and great handling of your car.

Kalbfellp - Very good car which is going to be right up there.

Charles X - Very responsive and good fun to drive.

Boss302 - Not very smooth but lots of get up. Will have to work on smoothing it all out.

Dylan - Loved your car. Just great

Miveson - Nearly there - power delivery not very smooth but it handles well

Rusty Shadow - very fast and handles pretty well. Little top heavy but OK if you adjust your driving to suit.

Have sorted Team Red's tyres. They were covered in a film of something. Came off with a good hard rub - now doing 14's and will be very competitive.

RAID Results for Heat 1 - yes - it was rather close at the top!

I found the RAID cars to be very enjoyable to drive. No real vices - a lot of fun.

Results for Modern Stage 1

Phil's Peugeot was just a cut above the other cars. It could be a little smoother but it doesn't waste time sliding around Guess you chose that livery because of the sponsor decals Phil???? "Expert".

A few general comments.....

Ben_M. Your car was hopeless before it had a double blow-out on the front tyres. It just wouldn't go around Dave's Knob corner - the track dips away and the front tyres were preventing the guide from doing its job. I removed the tyres for my own sanity - after that it was a bullet.

AMCC - Not too far off Phil's Pug but was lacking some grip. Very nice to drive despite this - let's face it Ninco WRC cars are very good.

OTFS - Typical Ninco - quite easy to drive.

Miveson - Rear tyres are well worn. Would probably be about the right size for a Scalex Mini now! But the car still seems to work really well despite being so low.

Curef99 - Very fast, handles well - is a little nervous though. Maybe some more weight?

CharlesX - The Subie is getting a little tired and would benefit from a freshen up - gears are getting noisy. Picked up well in the race after a dodgy qualifying run.

Gazza - Fiesta was a blast. It is great to drive - bags of power and darty handling keeps you on your toes.

Gas41T - Citroen was easy to drive. I can see how it would be competitive on all tracks.

Peter Gunn - Dunno Peter...... I think it is a bit light and the tyres don;t provide much grip. Also front wheels were too close to the deck and had to remove front left tyre to negotiate Dave's Knob. I can see the potential with some work - after all one of these still holds the outright record on my track at 11.8 (Slo1Quick)

Team Red - The DS3 was very responsive and well powered. Not as refined as Gazza's Fiesta. I think they will always struggle against a Ninco because of their narrow track. Lots of fun though.

Historics Heat 1

Comments

slo1quick - very nice once again Stu. Could have done with a few more low down herbs. Handles beautfully

Gas41T - Aluminium on rear rims is now showing through the tyres.- absolutely worn out. I'm amazed it still does reasonably good times.

Peter Gunn - Just about as close to perfect as you can get.

OTFS - Not too far off Peter's car. Let's face it you can;t go wrong with the MSC RS200.

Charlesx - my favourite car. Very responsive, twitchy, plain fast point to point. Loved it. (and it is scale!!)

Kalbfellp - Excellent car Phil. Probably could go quicker with some more laps.

Stubbo - Pretty good Alan. Suffering from low grip. Otherwise very easy to drive.

Shadow Rusty - Several years of development have paid off. Almost as good as a MSC version.

Gazza - was very surprised at the smoothness of this one Gazza. I think there is more left in it.

Team Red - Fairly smooth but lacking the punch of Gazza's. Bit more development needed.

Ben M - another blast to drive. Maybe a little overpowered but still good fun. Pity Ninco made the 037 so wide. Contacted scenery a bit which slowed it down.

Aquakiwi - if you could get some stickier tyres and perhaps some more weight I think this car could just about be at the top.

Curef99 - The Blue Streak tyres are not as good as conventional ones. Would also like to see more weight in this car. I think it still has a lot left and should be in the top few.

Corey - Not too bad but a car like this is never really going to be a winner being so short. I think the SCX guide is a bit of a hindrance as well. looked good on track.

Mitchell - A bit better than Corey's. Reasonably smooth and quite nice to drive. I don;t think there is a lot left in it.

Boss302 - I would like to apologise to previous organisers for my woeful attempt!!! It will be better next year.

Well thank you Boss302 for completing the final Raid round of the 2016 OzProxy.

An extremely exciting finish with Charles waiting patiently for the results of Stage 2 to determine if the Black Bowler had done enough.Fortunately a 3rd place finish in the 2nd stage gave Charles his worst round result for the series but cemented his position at the top of the leader board. Congratulations on the win and I'm sure everyone is worried about 2017 when you fine tune the Bowler.

The Pajero of Gas41t took out the round win and completed a trifecta of wins (the most of any car this series) but sadly the ridiculously poor result in Round 1 was the difference between being the bride or bridesmaid. Still you have to celebrate a fantastic effort in 2nd place for a vehicle that few at the beginning would have thought could finish on the podium. It reminded me of a little red mini that took out a podium last year :)

The final step of the podium was made up by the grandkids (not sure where AMCC translates to grandkids - suspect initials of names) who had a topsy turvy series with some fantastic podiums generally followed up with mediocre mid-table positions. I'm sure we'll see the Avant back next year with perhaps an Avant brother/sister on the grid. Far to much time has been spent watching pastor phil in the shed tinkering. Well done on the 3rd place.

Well done to the rest of the field who finished as flower girls.

So enough of my useless ramblings, the final placings are below and fingers crossed we have another raid class for 2017. I suspect we might have a few new entrants next year.
