10 Drivers took part in round 3 of the Club Championship, with the SCX 1/32 Handicap and Carrera DTM Classes making their first appearances of the year. The hype around the latest SCX Car 'Renault Sport RS 01' lived up to its expectations of being the car of choice with many drivers splashing out to get their hands on one.

John VD took out the win in the SCX Class with the Renault completing 142.9 laps. Brooksy finishing in 2nd place with 140.8 laps driving the Erebus Mercedes SLS. Nigel had a strong run to take the minor spot with is Chevrolet Corvette with 139.8 laps. Round 4 of the Championship was held last night, with 10 competitors turning up to race both the Slot It and Plafit Mini Z Classes. We also welcomed a new face this week with Scott making the Journey across town to take part in our race series.

John VD was going for the grand chelem, trying to win all 5 classes in succession. And it started strongly taking out the Slot It Class this week completing 165.2 laps with his new Yellow Ford GT40. This is John's first Slot It win since April 2014. Nigel flying the 'FFT' (Fardin Factory Team) flag coming home in 2nd with 163.4 laps. Gregg finishing in 3rd place, the first time on the podium in over a year with his 'FFT' Jaguar completing 161.2 laps.

Plafit Mini Z, and it was Ian who wrecked John's chance of the grand chelem by claiming his 2nd victory of the series with 168.3 laps. That Mclaren body along with Gary Johnson's Jig might be Ian's speed secret? John was denied victory, however the Ferrari stayed out of reliability problems to finish in 2nd with 165.9 laps. Brooksy came home in 3rd in his badly beaten up Nissan R390 with 162.4 laps.

Round 5 of the championship was held on Monday night, a long a waited return for some, due to the Easter break that clashed in between. Nevertheless everyone was especially excited to see the Slotworx V8's make their debut. We had 18 Drivers turn up for the spectacle, including 3 from Wollongong. Cheers for coming up Clinton, Charles and JJ.

The cars provided very close entertaining racing as drivers were getting their heads around these new beasts. In the end it was John A and JJ taking the victory with 824.0 laps. This is JJ's first win at Armchair, as well as John's First Host Class win in 3 years, with his last coming in 2013. Well done guys! 2nd place was Gregg and James, completing 821.8 laps. they got trumped right at the end after a stunning first half. That jump start might have been the difference. Anyway, it was a great drive by the two. Brooksy and Stephen took the minor spot on the podium completing 819.0 laps. we had a bit of a slow start but defiantly finished home strong.

A huge thanks to Fardin in preparing me a great 1/32 Slot It LMP Lola. We managed to win the race by 16 laps. We defiantly have one of the best car builders in the country racing at Armchair, it just shows the high quality of drivers and builders amongst our group.

We're just over the halfway mark into the Season, as Monday night hosted was was Round 12 the 2016 Armchair Club Championship. We had 12 competitors line up for what was both the SCX Handicap and Carrera DTM races.

SCX Handicap was first up on the night. It was great to see Stephen and his "Pascal Wehrlein Mercedes DTM" take out this weeks race, completing a total of 128.2 laps. That's Stephen's second win for 2016, definitely improving each race. Fardin was the best of the Non-Magnet runners, as he took his Renault to the second step of the podium, completing 125.1 laps. A well deserved third place for Stewart, making his first appearance on the Armchair Podium. He finished up with 126.5 laps also running a Renault. It must be that new Difaco Hand Controller that made a difference?

Carrera DTM's were next up and it was a great battle between the manufacturers. In the end I (Jason) managed to take out the win with the Audi, racking up 145.0 laps. Second was John VD, flying the flag for Mercedes has he came home with 141.6 laps. Ian rounded out the podium with his BMW, completing 141.1 laps.

Round 13 of the Championship was held last night, with 13 competitors turning up to race both in the Slot It and Plafit Mini Z Classes.

The constant appearance of superstitiously feared number played havoc on some drivers who were just simply unlucky last night, some even having a tumble, whilst others like the italians considered the number as lucky as they raced towards the ultimate 'jackpot' of victory.

First up was the Slot.it Open Class. I managed to keep out of that unlucky on track trouble to claim the victory, finishing up with 167.1 laps with my Porsche 911 GT1. Fardin had yet another breakdown with his #9 Gulf GT40, but rebounded with the spare #6 Gulf GT40 to take out 2nd this week with 165.1 laps. Gregg looked on track for certain victory, until a mistake on which lane he was racing supposted to be racing on dashed his hopes. He was lucky enough to hang on to the minor spot this week with 164.8 laps with a super fast Nissan R89C.

Plafit Mini Z's were next up. I once again stayed out of the trouble to notch up another victory, 174.3 laps i managed with my Nissan R390 this week. Fardin taking out second again last night, competing 171.6 laps also with a Nissan R390. John VD finished in 3rd, 170.3 laps the most that the ferrari could manage, whilst dodging the wrecks.

Monday night played host to Round 14 of the Armchair Championship. 15 drivers paired up for what was the Host Class Team Endurance Race. A familiar face returned for a race, Matt G making his first race appearance since May 2013. We also welcomed Rob to the Armchair Race Group last night too. It was great that you could join us.

The cars used for last nights Host Class were the SCX NASCARS. There was plenty of drafting, rubbing, and occasional multi-car pile ups last night, but the action was highly enjoyed by all drivers.

Overall it was Peter and Brooksy who staved off a huge challenge from Tony and John VD to take out the victory with 659.7 laps. The lead swapped multiple times throughout the night, however both teams hung tight until the end. Only 1.91 laps separated the two teams in the end after 1.2 hours of racing. Nigel and John S took out third, completing a total of 648.9 laps together.

Round 15 of the Armchair Club Championship took part last night. We had a decent starting grid as 14 drivers took part in this week’s events. The classes this week were SCX 1/32nd Handicap and Carrera DTM’s.

The first race of the night was SCX 1/32nd Handicap. There was once again a great range of cars on the grid ranging from GT’s to DTM’s and also the odd rally car too. I managed to keep out of trouble to take the victory, completing a total of 122.41 laps with the Erebus Mercedes SLS. John VD managed to salvage second place with 121.89 laps also with an Erebus Mercedes SLS. A few mechanical problems throughout the race denied him the win this week. Nigel was back on form, The Chevrolet Corvette coming home in third place, finishing with a total of 121.59 laps. This is Nigel’s first SCX Non-Magnet Podium finish.

The second race of the night was Carrera DTM’s. Once again it was an interesting line up of cars, some already splurging out on purchasing one of the latest DTM’s produced by Carrera. The new liveries look great on track. John VD took a commanding victory for Mercedes, dominating the field to win by 4.3 laps. In the process John also broke the lap score record, now setting the bar at 147.9 laps. Ian took out second with the ‘Ice Watch BMW’ to complete the race with 143.6 laps. Nigel took out another 3rd place, this time with the new ‘Timo Glock BMW’ finishing up with 141.4 laps.

First up were the Slot It's. John VD stormed his way through the field to take out his second Slot It victory of the year, completing 167.4 laps with the Jagermeister Lola LMP. Gregg was left to settle for second with the Nissan R89C, finishing with 166.6 laps. a welcome return to the podium for Ian this week, his first Slot It podium since Round 6, 2013. The Jaguar XJR12 managing a total of 165.2 laps to take out third. Fastest Lap of the race though went to James with a 5.201 second lap on Purple with his Lola LMP.

Heading into the final round, John VD has retaken the points lead on 77 points. Jason and Fardin locked together 2 points behind with 75. Any of these 3 drivers can take out the class victory with a win next time out.

Onto our second class of the night, Plafit Mini-Z's. It was a lights out to flag victory for Jason this week, the Monster McLaren MP4-12C managing to complete a total of 176.9 laps. Ian scrapping home to take out second place, the Martini McLaren completing 170.191 laps. John VD got relegated to third with his Ferrari Enzo, only 0.004 of a lap behind with 170.187 laps. Round 17, and we once again move into the season of endurance. Supercars were the car of choice last night, and it seemed fitting since Bathurst is just around the corner. All five manufactures were represented last night, Holden, Ford, Nissan, Volvo and Mercedes did battle on track as teams of two drivers set out to claim glory. There was plenty of on track action to keep the drivers adrenaline running throughout the night, including the occasional door bang or roll over.

The race was split up into two half's. The Bankstown paring of John A and Brian H took out the the first half of the night, going into the half time break completing a total of 404.2 laps. Close behind though was John VD and Tony B only 0.4 of a lap behind with Fardin and Paul a further 2 laps behind in third.

The second half produced a different result. Ian took out Part 2 with 405.6 laps whilst using his latest secret weapon. of all things a motorbike glove provided him the perfect finger padding to drive fast and hard. Second went to John VD and Tony with 403.6 laps, and John A and Brian in third with 401.9 laps.

With the two half's combined it was the paring of John VD and Tony who emerged victorious, completing a grand total of 807.4 laps, a gallant effort by the duo from Bankstown, John A and Bryan taking out second with 806.1 laps, The lone driver consisting of Ian took out third overall with 805.1 laps.

The Host Class Team Enduro once again delivered a great race. It's amazing to think that 2 laps was all that separated the top 3, after an hour and half of racing. Top effort by all last night.

Going into the final round, 10 Drivers can still mathematically take out the Host Class Endurance Series. with last night's win John VD sits in first with 150 points, Gregg in second with 148 points, Fardin and Tony in equal third with 146 points.

The penultimate round of the Armchair Club Championship took place last night. This was also the final round of the Host Class Team Endurance Series, with the car of choice being the Carrera GT's. Drivers were once again paired together based on their current raking, which makes the racing both fair and close. Heading into the final round last night, 10 drivers were still mathematically able to take out the series.

As always, the race was split up into two half's. Peter and John A got out to a quick start, finishing the first half with a healthy 4.7 lap lead with 368.9 laps. Stephen and Jason comfortably sitting in second place with 364.2 laps. Gregg and Chris emerged next, holding out third place with 348.4 laps. However only 5.4 laps separated them from the rest of the pack.

The second half produced a different result. Stephen and Jason were more consistent in the second half, taking out the race with 366.7 laps. Peter and John A not far back with 365.1 laps to take out second. Stewart and Nigel picked their way through the pack to take third with 350.5 laps.

With the two halfs combined, it was the paring of Peter and John A who emerged victorious, completing a grand total of 734.1 laps, a gallant effort from Stephen and Jason, taking out second with 731.0 laps, Scraping into third place were Stewart and Nigel, completing the race with 697.7 laps.

Series wise, last nights victory also elevated Peter and John A to the top of the leaderboard, taking out the 2016 Host Class Team Endurance Series tied with 184 points. This is Peter's first series win at Armchair, whilst this was John's 4th series win recent years. Great performace guys! Gregg and Tony tied for equal 3rd with 180 points. Thanks for the updates, Jason!

Great night as always - although I'm not sure what was ringing more in my head - "Tire !!!" or "Black - no, the Other Black...!!!"

John A was certainly on fire for those races.....

Cheers,

Tony.

There's only two questions:

1. What direction do you go

2. What's the Lap Record?
