Hello Guys, there isn't a better way to celebrate Australia Day than to go slot car racing! This week is also special because we are running the same class twice, but with different breakout times.

Modern GT - round 1 (4.0 second breakout)

Modern GT - round 2 (3.8 second breakout)

Class description: http://www.tryslotcars.com/gt.htm

The 3.8 second breakout round would be ideal for those who have a whizbang NSR Mosler. The 4.0 round would be good for Scalextric and Carrera brand GTs and the like.

I like this 'small sedans' class.

Not so sure about calling a 220 Merc small though it is slow. Look up Chris Harris in Cars on Drive tv and watch his 18 minute lap of the Nurburgring...

The 220 is not the smallest car, but it doesn't really fit with the other V8 orientated sedan classes either. The 220 is fun to drive being under-tyred and overpowered. That's a great video by the way, thanks.

The 'Small Sedans' racing last night was entertaining with only half a lap separating the three top placegetters after 188 laps!

Why don't you come along and try it out one night?

1:24 scale vintage racing returns to MMR for another year next Wednesday, the 10th. The two classes Ged has selected are:

We are only going to run the K&Bs with the standard ‘Challenger’ motor, not the 'Super Challenger' motor. Here is a comparison between the motors: http://www.vintage-s...-Challenger.jpg

I'd love to, but generally are about 8 hours north in Canberra.

I do run a world classics BMW 2002 Ti turbo (resin kit) with a Scaley 18k in our classic touting class on some tracks, and have a classic (original scalextric 1970's) mini, a NSU TT and a beetle in pieces that would make your class.

Hello guys, this week’s classes include the first round of the 4-week 1966-74 Sports Cars series championship.

There is a tied final result between Dirk and myself in the Trans-Am/Muscle car series. Ged wisely decided that is was too hard to implement a countback system because wins and runner-up positions are worth different points depending on how many people turn up on the night.

Well done Dirk on a superb and consistent performance. Now all I have to do its try to work out how to saw the trophy in half :-)

Result: www.tryslotcars.com/mmr.htm

Regards,

Chris

Congratulations Joe Q. for becoming the 2016 champion; a most worthy winner!

Would you believe that Ian, Dirk and Mark all tied for third! Ian taking the position on a count-back due to the most series wins.

Mark should get an award for the most series podiums; a whole eight of them the ten series!

It was particularly pleasing to see newbies Steve, Joe G. and Greg become very regular competitors last year. Rob has just joined the fray too.

Roll on 2017!
