Ozrally Round 3 - Mt. Rustmore

Recommended Posts

Up to this last stage i was1st with 5 iff with the citroen... not bad.

But i did the beginner mistake on the historic. I went for soft compounds which grab dirt like this cleaning advert.

AquaKiwi, your car is definitely overpowered for here, but it is easily one of the most fun cars I've driven.

Modern has been completed, and once again, it was very close...

As suspected, Curef99 needn't have worried... His 10+ second lead was always going to be hard to catch.

That said, there was definitely a bit of a mix up, and Phil may be kicking himself for pushing hard just once too often...

Exciting stuff with the modern WRC cars....... with an extremely close battle for 3rd place.

As ever top stuff from Rusty Shadow who clearly has no family or loved ones as most of his xmas/new year has been spent run Round 3.

Series results updated with some interesting movements - our series leaders continue to accumulate enough points to maintain a handy lead. Those entrants from places 8 downwards are hoping the top 7 cars are put in a separate package addressed for Zimbabwe.

Yay, Historics has also been done...

Boo, my RS200 fell over way too often.

Miveson, yes, it's been fun juggling OzRally and Family.

The plan was to be finished last weekend, but that just didn't happen.

Hi Shadow_Rusty.

Well done all round. Fantastic effort particularly over holiday period. As you are a keen slottie perhaps a busman's holiday.

Congratulations to the podiumites (great performance in Histroric Stu) and all other competitors who have made this round so interesting. Sounds like I have been rather lucky with all three cars running better than I could have ever expected. Still a long way to go though so who knows what the other tracks have in store for us.

Put you feet up for a while SR - you deserve it. Was great to see our Scaly cars give some of the others a bit of a fright.

Series points updated for Historics.

Poor Phil must be feeling some pain with Gas and Slo1 continuing to be consistent with solid results. The big mover and shaker for this round is Charles who must have done something good in the last few weeks as God has looked on him favourably across multiple classes. Some might say it is simply luck, others might say Karma or even the result of some solid experience in proxy events.

The Top 3 have a substantial gap on the remaining field but there is little between the chasers who can only hope for better results over the coming Sydney rounds.

Top job done Rusty.... great coverage and pics!!!

Congrats and well done to everyone at the pointy end and the movers and shakers

Thanks for gluing my bumper back on, I believe is in order. And for doing a stella job getting the Renault over the line. ;)

Certainly surprised with this pleasing result :)

Thanks Mark too on your great work on the prompt scoring, as usual ;)

Cheers

Thanks Michael well done getting this all completed of the silly season.

Congratulations to all the guys on the podium.

This round has certainly thrown up some different results, it will end very interesting to see if things change again in Sydney.

Stirling job Shadow. Top marks to those at the pointy end.

Different circuits , a new year maybe the next shake up of the top runners . If the cars had been here last week when the heat was on and as Gaz and I run the same surface would have been nice and sticky. Looks as though the wet will be moving in over the next couple of weeks meaning cooler temps and a bit longer for the tracks to grip up.

So anything can happen. Stay tuned.

Cheers Craig

Thanks Rusty, hope you had fun. Well done to those at the pointy end. Unfortuntaly mine seem to be allergic to the plastic, I think I need to find some more grip.

Yep, it was definitely very fun, albeit tiring...

Also here are some group shots on the GymKhana track of both Historic and Modern.

And also, the Podium Shots...

It appears that the same crowd had turned up to cheer on the winners.

I'm not too sure, but it appears that one of the losers may of let a raptor loose...

I certainly hope you have enjoyed all the work involved in hosting a round of this event?

You had the cars over a crazy time if the year, but managed very well, thank you.

My cats would love your Gymkhana track, they could just sit in the middle and not have to run around the track!

Thanks Phil, it's definitely been a memorable experience, and one that I've really enjoyed.

Glad they have arrived safely...

Yes, just the two boxes... 1 for the Raid Trucks, and 1 for Modern / Historic Rally.

Now the cars have arrived I'm trying for the next round to start on Saturday at Minto Rally Park with weather permitting. If rain will have to put an extra sheet of plastic over the road track when I move it out side the garage on friday night. So hopefully I will have the rally track up and rubbered up by friday night and will give the cars a run to make sure everything is a goer.
