We used to do this years ago,but not worth the effort these days will ready cut donuts readily available.

You can buy donuts with any grip level required.

I have also tried various industrial foams, but found the grip not as good as regular Parma cheap donuts.

Sam, Ace hobbies have Plafit donuts in the size you quoted & are only $4.60 a pair.A few years ago I bought a sheet of foam rubber from Clarke rubber for a set of 32mm dia rims for a 1/18th scale slot car I had built,It was fairly expensive & I used a hole saw to shape & cut before truing,Foam was very similar to the Plafit donuts that are my normal race tyre.The Plafit donuts come in many different sizes & are very cheap & work well on any surface track.Cheers Jimmy :D
