Round 1 Shelmore Park Rally

Recommended Posts

Hi Phil.

Excuse me being so dense but I do understand what you mean. Are you talking about a new Ninco model, Aquakiwi's Bowler or one you are developing.

Secondly it was good to see the basic car data but is there more coming? Thinking of the sort of detail provided for TC cars.

I do not want much I know but hope there are some photos coming. Interested to see the extra obstacles provided for RAID vehicles.

Hi Phil and all.

Great round. Congrats to the podiumites and organiser(s).

7th and 10th and I end up 5th overall. Obviously consistency counts. A big thanks Phil for replacing my first set of rear tyres after the first ones disintegrated before they left NZ.

Good second round there Aquakiwi. Have often noticed your cars often go much better in one direction than other (prior Oz Rallies). Has this got something to do with your preparation, set-up or track testing.

Regards Chas Le Breton

Could be Chas I mainly run anti clockwise on my loop............or the may just take after there owner and go better in one direction.

Hey Phil , thanks for the first round of the Raids.

Congrats to the podiumites, looks as though Tassie wasn't my round.

As we keep saying all tracks are different as are the track surfaces .

Only the start so we'll see what happens next, hopefully the other 2 classes will make up for it :D .

Cheers Craig.

Sorry for the long delay everyone, life has managed to get in the way of slots.

But here are a few pics of the Raids.

Miveson%203_zps2vnn1mcl.jpg

IMO the best looking raid in the field, It goes well and is smooth and easy to drive watch this one.

Pajero_zpst44tuab6.jpg

The Pajero was a real surprize, very smooth and well balanced,My have to set one up myself.

PK_zpsh4blrdrg.jpg

My Evo Pajero was setup for this track,BUT only marginally better than the other Ninco's.

Ranger%2012_zpsntqoq7uh.jpg

Dylans ranger was fast but very loose and hard to keep off the scenery.

Rusty_zpsa5dafbo2.jpg

Rusty's BMW was smooth and seemed fast.

Kids%20crash_zpsvrt9elsi.jpg

This corner was the undoing of the Grand kids in Stage 1,

Bowler%2011_zps3wb04gki.jpg

Aquakiwi Bowler was fast BUT a but tippy IMO the tyres need some more work.

Gaza_zpswdwbkpht.jpg

Gazza Gunship suffered from rear suspension failure in Stage 1 BUT was all O/K in Stage 2.

Craig_zpsfuk81m6c.jpg

Craigs Tourag was fast and very interesting to drive with its lack of grip,it was actually lifting the rear off the hump.

Bowler%209_zpszsgtq9gy.jpg

Charles's Bowler was nice to drive and very consistant.

looks like I have missed the other Ranger of Boss 302 and the Ben's Schessler Buggy.

The Raids should be with Ben about mid week..

Stage 1 of the Historic Rally has been run and 2 Porsches finished on top.

Bens Ninco Lancia was not far behind,It was a bit overpowered for this track and also hitting the scenery a bit.

Gazza's old SCX Porsche 959 is fantastic, very easy to drive and fast,

It did not like going under the overpass and had two offs probably costing him the Stage win.

Rossco RS200 was also very good car,its own taillight caused a problem, falling out and then jambing the guide in the slot.

Stage 2 will be run as soon as the marshalls are available again.

so, 273.5 this year versus 244 last year.... crap. So, MJK fit better to this track compare to the BRM and the moving arm make it worth

and 10.6 versus 9.796 on the best lap time.

Was the track dusty??? it looks way slower than last year!

Stage 2 of the Historic cars has been run and Gazzas Porsche proved to be the class of the field in this direction.

Stage%202_zpsvcjahfzk.jpg

The win in Stage 2 gave him enough of an advantage to take the round win.

IMG_2674_zpsr5tcrsyr.jpg

Stubbos car was much better in this direction to take third overall from the other 959 of Team Red.

Mels car suffered a broken rear body mount resulting in the body rubbing on the wheels on the corners, all fixed now ready for round 2.

Aquakiwis MG is just lacking grip on this track.

Last year all the host persevered with Mivesons Mini this year it is Boss 302 Escort! No more to say about that!
