Well good news / bad news I'm afraid, for me anyway.

Shed pretty much done with lining happening as I can find time (in between external landscaping duties) and money, even got Aircon, flash huh.

Posted Image

Whole process went a bit (read a lot) over budget so track is gone for now. All dressed up with nowhere to go as it were.

Well not totally gone, downsized a bit and turned to plastic as I have heaps of it, so no mini-z's which is a bummer as I really enjoy them.

At the mo' it is laid out for trial on the floor to see if it annoys me any, so far so good, it is the least irritating of plastic track layouts I have built so I guess its a goer.

Kids like it and that's the main thing.

Runs counter clockwise from the start straight with a steep climb planned for the twisty bits and then a gradual decent from the top down.

Hope to get table built over christmas.
Table 4.8x1.8
Lanes lengths 18.59, 19.08

It'll be enough for the kids and me to have a blat at least and to play with model landscaping, testing cars etc.
Cheers Grant

The shed looks good Zegas and maybe the routed track is on the back burner but this one still fits in with the title of the topic. 'Zegas Digital Raceway' ...

Good luck with the table. Hopefully it won't be against the wall or it'll be a long reach to retrieve a car that comes to grief on the far side.

That looks like lots of fun, especially that back section...

ps. The only change I would make would be to swap the inner loop so that it's a proper figure 8.
Not a major issue for digital, but it helps even things out in analog mode.

Plastic track beats no track at all.

Damn you Michael, I had it all down fine.
Digital only, with analog test for proxy cars.
Almost finished my IPC car and was testing in the weekend and thought, you know analog racing is good too.
Put it to the back of my mind as I have been flip flopping for years on track and just wanted it built.
Now thanks to you I have got it in the front of my mind again, up at 5 to try and sort something out with a loop with bits I have.

So here's the question, what do I do with the extra R2.
Posted Image

It won't be against the wall Wobble, this isn't its final location it is just the wall I have lined so is out of way.
This is the final proposal.

See the "reason" for a shed is it is to be my "office". ;)

Tee Hee Hee....
ps. Looking good there...

Now quick, get it built, and 'glue' it all together before you change your mind again...
Oh wait, that's the beauty of plastic track... If you don't like something, you can change it.

Also, if you put the 'walls' onto the table, you can move the track around, rebuild it, etc. as often as you like.

Well after god knows how many years of deliberations ZeGas Digital Raceway (budget version) is under way.
I have tweaked it around a few times and have now got a nice flowing track.

Looks great. Would love to have a run on that...

Have you thought about using the 'hairpin' corners for the R1 U-turn?

Makes the inner lane much more enjoyable.

Thanks John,
I look forward to seeing progress on your new track once you start ... exciting times.

You gotta stop doing this to me , you alone have put this back months by your ideas , sending me back to the drawing board .
But yes I had considered the hairpin corner, at the moment I am just using the track I have, it could be changed later quite easily .
In early test drives I have actually enjoyed the inside lane, if you brake just right you can slide the car 180 and hit the gas full without sliding or wobbling the car, looks cool if you get it right.

You already have the squeeze points and borders, so all you would need to do is swap them with the straights, add a $13 hairpin pack, and you are set...
Push, push, nudge, nudge...

Looking good there ZeGas. A few years ago I played around with the side swipes and hairpin curves and came up with this. Too late for you now but a lot of fun!

No worries Grant yeah i can't wait for the new track to be running already. Id personally stick with just the plain radius 1 hairpin as ive never enjoyed squeeze sections on digital tracks as there is more cars per lane to contend with, as we tried them with my old plastic track and it took away the fun of side by side battles and just created more accidents.

I agree John, but thinking about it on the R1 hairpin cars are going to conflict no matter what.
Either with inside trail if slow or slide if fast.
At the moment I have three conflict points two from the sideswipes, only cause I had the track waste not want not, and the potential R1 hairpin conflict.
So my fuzzy logic is
If I do go with the hairpin track I can reuse one of the sideswipes, which initially reduces the conflict points to two and then if I do get straights it will reduce it to one but a slow speed one.

hmmm thinking thinking, I have almost talked myself into it, I'll give it some race time with the kids and see if it is really bad or not.
Cheers Grant

That looks like a lot of fun...

I love my double squeeze hairpin (aka ???) <-- Lyn, do you remember who it was (My google skills have let me down, and I can't find the track I first saw it on, even though it is an awesome track)...

That would be Graham Lane's sweep chicane or whatever he called it. Cut two side swipes and put them together.
