Hi Racers,

I will be helping Eddie out with race night posts. To date it has been a cracker of a start to the year. Below is an update of the year so far. Posts will be updated more frequently as we go with some pics as well. We run a variety of classes in all types of formats to spice things up. So here is how it stands...

Wednesday Night Racing Round 9 Race Results 1/4

Race One: Trucks – Carrera

A new race category, the trucks are certainly here to stay providing close racing, hits, spills and trills for all drivers who loved the elbows out attitude.

Craig has current bragging rights as he took out honours completing 99 laps (20 points) and claiming the fastest laps on all lanes, and claiming the fastest lap on the white and green lanes with an impressive 7.125, however we know we can get a 6.9 on the orange lane so keep practicing boys. Mario was next with 94 laps (16 points), Ranger Col and Graeme couldn't be separated and completed 92 laps each (10 points), Gary was next with 90 laps (4 points), Mick took the last point on offer completing 83 laps and Steve Z rounded up the troops with 59 laps with a borrowed truck, yes it was mine and yes the braid fell out and Steve spent some time with it in the garage, sorry Steve I'll take this matter up with the owners...

Race two: Aussie Tourers - Carrera

Another new race category, Aussie tourers allows all of us to reminisce the good old days where the large Falcons were overtaken by the Mini's at the bends then the thundering V8's would stretch their legs and swoop past the underpowered Mini's on the straights. This class has created very close racing, so close that all racers were only 9 laps apart from first to last and that was mainly due to car troubles for Steve Z. Craig took honours this time with Mario both sharing the spoils each finishing with 103 laps (18 points each) right on their heels was Ranger Col and Graeme each completing 102 laps (10 points), Mick finished with 99 laps (4 points) followed by Gary with 97 laps (1 point) then Steve Z with 94 unfortunately not earning any points.

Ranger Col took out fastest lap 6.905 on the green lane.

Race three: LeMans – Routed

The fast paced open LeMans again created fascinating racing so much so we have a three way finish for first place, Gary, Ranger Col and Craig all finished with 152 laps as a result all sharing the spoils (16 points each), Steve Z bagged his first points of the night with a respectable 144 laps (8 points), and right on his tale was Graeme completing 143 laps (4 points), Mario struggled to keep up with the pace completing 136 laps (1 point) and Mick had car troubles and completing 109 laps and no points.

Mario took out fastest lap 4.363 on the orange lane.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 10 Race Results 8/4

Race One: Small Car – Party Track

Small car class brought back to life... a fun category on a tight twisty track and again another close race. Mario and Michael were inseparable each completing 79 laps each (18 points), Pete and Ranger Col followed suit each completing 78 laps (10 points), zippy Craig was next completing 75 laps and a few breakouts which undoubtedly may have cost him the race (4 points), Gary wanted some of the action and finished with 72 laps as did Graeme, (1/2 point each) Mick was next dragging the chain and having car troubles, completing 48 laps.

Ranger Col took out fastest lap 5.902 on the green lane.

Race two: GP Classics - Party Track

Good 'ol GP's are back Michael was just too good on the night by completing 85 laps (20 points), followed by Pete 83 laps (16 points) Gary was next with 81 laps (12 points), Mario slipped to 4th position completing 79 laps (8 points), Graeme was next with 76 laps (4 points) followed by Mick with 72 laps (1 point) Ranger Col and Craig both dropped valuable points by finishing 2nd last and last, Col 72 laps, Craig 71 laps.

Michael took out fastest lap 5.380 on the blue lane.

Race three: LeMans – Routed

The fast paced open LeMans again created more fascinating racing this time no spoils being shared but good 'ol fast paced racing was enjoyed by all. Gary was unstoppable completing 159 laps (20 points) Ranger Col was next and only one lap behind (16 points) Mario sorted his previous issues, as a result completed 151 laps, 15 more than previous week. Craig was next completing 149 laps (8 points) Pete was next with 144 laps (4 points) Michael took the last point with140 laps (1 point) Graeme took out second last with 138 laps no points, and Mick swept the field with 129 laps.

Gary took out fastest lap 4.20 on the yellow lane.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 11 Race Results 15/4

Race One: Pre ’68 Classics – Carrera

Dust off the cob webs and relive the old classic cars. Ranger Col and Craig showed everyone how its done as these two were inseparable completing 105 laps (18 points each) , Pete was slightly off the pace completing 101 laps (12 points), the double G’s, Graeme and Gary both finished with 96 laps (6 points each) Steve Z was next with 93 laps (1 point), Mick completed 89 laps while Seam 86 laps and the tally leader Mario completed 83 laps earning no points.

Craig took out fastest lap 6.782 on the green lane.

Race two: Can-Am - Routed

How good is this class??? Only five laps between first to last, that’s only 1 lap on average per lane. Ranger Col and Graeme were just quick enough to beat the rest of the field, completing 110 laps (18 points each), Pete and Craig were unlucky and completed one lap less, finishing with 109 laps (10 points each), the close racing continued down the field with Steve Z and Sean finishing ‘even stevens’ with 106 laps (2.5 points each) the unluck drivers followed with just one lap out of the points Mario, Mick and Gary 105 laps each. Ensuing from this race I suggest we have an Enduro race soon.

Mick took out fastest lap 5.402 on the orange lane.

Race three: LeMans – Routed

Yet again the fast paced open LeMans again created more fascinating racing. Gary again was unstoppable and showed last week was no fluke this time only completing 131 laps (20 points) Mario earned his first lot of points of the round completing 130 laps (16 points) Pete followed with 129 laps (12 points) Steve Z completed 127 laps (8 points), with yet another equal placed finish with Ranger Col and Graeme completing 124 laps (2.5 points each). The following were out of the points, Craig 118 laps, Sean 114 and Mick with 103 laps.

Steve Z took out fastest lap 4.322 on the yellow lane.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 12 Race Results 22/4

Race One: Ninco 1 – Carrera

A new successful race category. This class is effectively start off with a basic Ninco 1 Mustang or Camaro, go hell for leather on everything except the motor and body… and what an exciting class this has created.. who was the genius behind this class??? This class proves the more time and effort you put towards balancing and fine tuning your car increases your chance of a good result. This was certainly the case for the top five finishers, playing with gear meshes, lowering the body etc… Ranger Col has initial bragging rights for this class completing 111 laps (20 points) closely followed by Pete with 110 laps (16 points), Graeme was right on the pace but a poor finish on the yellow lane may have cost him a better finish, nevertheless completed 108 laps along with Craig, (10 points each) Sean and Michael were inseparable completing 104 laps each (1/2 a point each) unfortunately Harry 102 laps, Gary 97 laps and Mick 72 laps obviously having issues with his car were all out of the points.

Ranger Col took out fastest lap 6.566 on the red lane, yes the RED lane...

Race two: Modern Rally - Carrera

CLEAN YOUR TYRES ONCE BOYS, that was the cry from everyone to ensure there was no sneaky tyre licking between heats. Mario showed all class finishing three laps ahead of second place, completing 105 laps (20 points), Craig trying to close the gap on Mario couldn’t do it so had to settle for second place, however Gary wanted to spoil the party finishing equal second with 102 laps (14 points each) Pete finished 1 lap behind with Sean on 101 (6 points each) Then we had a 3 way split tie, with Ranger Col, Graeme and Michael all on 99 laps (1/3 points each) Harry competed 92 laps and Mick the break out KING finished with 81 laps and earning no points.

Mick took out fastest lap 5.402 on the orange lane.

Race three: GT – Carrera

Next we had a new race category in GT class with Scalextric Carrera SCX and Ninco all racing against each other for the first time, in this handicap class. Mario had the fastest qualifying time with a 6.154 followed by Ranger Col 6.498 Graeme was next with 6.537 then Gary 6.591 Michael 6.692 Pete 6.717 Craig 7.065 Harry 7.075 Sean 7.135 then followed by Mick with 7.356. Mario had to wait 30 seconds before he could take off but with his concentration and classy racing he was unstoppable by winning the overall race on the blue lane (20 points), Graeme was next on the green lane (16 points) Ranger Col followed suit on the orange lane (12 points) followed by Michael claiming the last allocated points on the white lane (8 points)

Wednesday Night Racing Round 13 Race Results 29/4

Enduro Race: Group 5 Sideways (triple points round)

It’s all about the endurance and having a level, well set up car that’s consistent and easy to drive, the racer that got all that right is a second time round winner, Sean completing 710 laps (60 points), three laps behind was Pete with 707 laps (48 points) Ranger Col found himself a further lap behind completing 706 laps (36 points) Graeme cam in next with 693 laps (24 points), Craig was close behind with 689 laps (12 points), the current overall leader Mario failed to cement his position at the top of the ladder completing 676 laps (3 points), unfortunately the following racers didn’t earn any points but I’m sure they had lots of fun, Gary completed 659 laps with a brand new out of the box M1, I know this as I had just sold it to him, not bad considering there was no work done to the car, following was Ron with 629, then Mick with 599 (one more lap to crack the 600) and unfortunately we had a DNF…. Harry pulled out after 1 ¼ heats, 137 laps with cramping issues. Harry just ask the other racers what they do to prepare for these long races, I’m sure they all said they rest their right hand and don’t use it until race night…

Well done gents,

The points as they stand after the first thirteen rounds…

Wednesday Night Racing Round 14 Race Results 6/5

Race One: Trucks – Carrera

The elbows are out again, the cries of oh’s and ee’s resinate through the shop as the trucks de-slot and crash into the barrier, the biff and barge take place in every corner as Harry calls out of the blue…‘my truck has lights’…lol.

Once the dust settled we actually had a great race although Craig still has bragging rights as he easily took out honours completing 124 laps (20 points) for the second time Craig has claimed the fastest laps on all lanes, by default claiming the fastest lap on the green lane with an impressive 6.995, which was called as the challenge in round 9, well done Craig. Ranger Col was next with 117 laps (16 points), Pete and Mario couldn't be separated and completed 116 laps each (10 points), Gary was next with 113 laps (4 points), Harry was next completing 112 laps (1 point), Graeme completed 111 laps and Sean rounded up the troops with 91 laps with a borrowed truck both not earning points

Craig took out fastest lap 6.995 on the orange lane, impressive for a truck!!!

Race two: Aussie Tourers - Carrera

Aussie tourers allows all of us to reminisce the good old days again but boys where are the actual Aussie cars, the field was predominantly O/S cars. Yet again we witnessed pretty close racing, and again all racers were only 9 laps apart from first to last. For the second time tonight and repeating his efforts in round 9, Craig took honours this time on his own completing 130 laps (20 points) with Pete next on 129 laps, the red ;lane proving to be the difference, (16 points) Sean followed with 128 laps (12 points) Ranger Col and Mario’s door handles were locked together both finishing with 126 laps (6 points each) Graeme completed 125 laps (1 points), Harry finished with 124 laps followed by Gary with 124 laps unfortunately both not earning any points.

Craig took out fastest lap 6.902 on the blue lane.

Race three: GT – Routed

The fast paced open GT’s were out again or should we call it the Mosler Class??? Again this class created fascinating racing and for a second week in a row we have a three way tie for first places, Ranger Col, Pete and Gary all finished with 199 laps as a result all sharing the spoils (16 points each), Mario took fourth spot with 196 laps (8 points), Craig was next completing 189 laps (4 points), Graeme struggled to keep up with the pace completing 187 laps (1 point) and Sean 178 laps and Harry 175 laps earned no points.

Gary took out fastest lap 4.323 on the blue lane.

Mario’s bad round just got a whole lot worse allowing Ranger Col and Craig to close right in with only seven weeks to go, hold on to your seats we truly have a three horse race… with a possible fourth coming into the equation…

Hi Racers, Please see latest update on Wednesday Night Racing at the Slot Shop. The points are getting very close.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 15 Race Results 13/5

Race one: Small Car - Carrera

No place for thundering V8’s, this is small car class at its finest, everything from Alpines to Zephyrs... a fun category on a tight twisty track and again another close race.

Ranger Col had those little wild horses running supremely in his well tunes Alpine completing 68 laps (20 points) two laps adrift was Pete with 66 laps (16 points), our biggest mover from the back of the pack was Mick completing 65 laps (12 points), closing the gap was Craig and Mario each completing 64 laps (6 points each) and rounding up the field in a three way tie saw Gary, Steve Z and Graeme all completing 63 laps each and all sharing the last point like a wild pack of wolves gnawing on a bone… (1/3 point each)

The first time this season where everyone has come away with a point, well 1/3rd of a point anyway and only 5 laps separating 1st to last…

Steve Z was closest to breakout with 7.110 on the green lane.

Race two: GP Classics – Carrera

Wind back the time machine to the 1950’s, here is where you will find courageous drivers behind the wheel of these usually poor handling machines with one metre wide steering wheels and no seat belt or harness. Needless to say those drivers are nowhere near as courageous as our own Slot Shop drivers trying to tame these GP Classic beasts on every bend, crest and straight!!!

The first driver able to tame these wild beasts was Pete completing 68 laps (20 points) hot on his heals was Graeme with 67 laps (16 points), a further lap behind saw Mick take third spot, with 66 laps (12 points), Gary and Steve Z couldn’t be separated each completing 64 laps (6 points each) Ranger Col dropped valuable points as did Mario each completing 63 laps (1/2 point each) unfortunately Craig was the biggest loser of the top four of the competition and claimed last position with 62 laps no points.

Gary took out fastest lap 5.385 on the white lane.

Race three: Open GT – Routed

The fast paced open GT’s were out again. Finally the men have separated from the boys, none of this three way ties as per previous rounds. Pete completed 111 laps (20 points) Ranger Col 110 laps (16 points), Gary 109 laps (12 points), the Siamese twins were at it again referring Craig and Mario each completing 104 laps (6 points each), Steve Z claimed the last point on offer with 100 laps, Graeme struggled to keep up with the pace completing 95 laps and Mick 94 laps both not earning points.

Fastest lap not recorded.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 16 Race Results 20/5

Race One: Pre ’68 Classics – Carrera

The ol’ girls are out to play again, those beautiful curves of the classic ’60’s era is out for everyone to see. Ranger Col again showed off all his curves naturally to everyone’s dismay, especially Mario and Pete… having to contend with seeing his rear all night long… Ranger Col finished with 104 but since we had issues at the beginning of the race, everyone would drop their worst heat as a result Ranger Col officially finished with 87 laps (20 points) Mario 102 adjusted to 85 along with Pete 101 laps adjusted 85 laps (14 points each). Steve Z was next 99 laps adjusted 83 laps equal with Michael 98 laps adjusted 83 laps (6 points) Gary was next 94 laps adjusted 80 laps (one point), the following missed out on points, Graeme 94 laps, adjusted 79, Craig 84 laps, adjusted 79 Mick 89 laps adjusted 75 laps,

Ranger Col took out fastest lap 6.928 on the orange lane.

Race two: CanAm - Carrera

The race to take out the top spot is certainly on, miss out on valuable points will be costly as Ranger Col found out in this race, not everything will go your way. Pete and Mario have taken valuable points to claw their way to top spot. Pete finished with 108 laps (20 points) and Mario 1 lap behind with 107 (16 points) Ranger Col and Graeme shared the spoils each completing 101 laps (10 points each) followed closely by Craig with 100 laps (4 points) a further lap behind was Michael 99 laps (1 point) the following didn’t earn any points, Steve Z 98 laps, Gary 96 laps and Mick 95.

Mario took out fastest lap 6.801 on the white lane.

Race three: Open GT – Carrera

The fast paced open GT’s were out in force again but this time on the Carrera track, even though we were on the Carrera track instead of the Routed we still saw some close racing. Pete finished with 133 laps (20 points) Ranger Col breathing down his exhaust with 132 laps (16 points) Mario was next with 130 laps (12 points) a further 8 laps behind was Craig with 122 laps (8 points) Steve Z finished with 118 laps (4 points) Graeme and Mick couldn’t be split, both finished with 116 laps (1/2 a point each) Michael completed 112 laps and Gary with 111.

Pete took out fastest lap 5.222 on the blue lane.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 15 Race Results 3/6

Fourteen drivers turned up this week, which is great to see, especially when one of our own celebrated his birthday, all the boys fine-tuned their vocal chords instead of their cars and belted out what sounded like the Happy Birthday tune to good ol’ Gary, I’m still not sure nor convinced it was Happy Birthday but let’s just go with it!

Onto the racing….

Race One: Stockers - Routed

If your too heavy handed you’ll break out in this class, three of the top four on our leader board were praying for Pete to break out, but it wasn’t to be; Pete took top spot with 161 laps (20 points) Ranger Col protecting the top position on the leader board was next with 159 laps (16 points) Michael and Steve Z were next one lap behind with 158 laps (10 points each) the Phantom… Jamie (welcome back mate and congrats on your success with the young Cronulla Sharks by taking your team all the way and winning the GF!!!) was next as he dusted off his cobwebs and took off his footy boots was a further lap behind with 157 laps (4 points) then we had a three way tie all fighting over the last few points, Sean, Graeme and Craig all completed 154 laps (1/3 of a point each), the following drivers missed out on earning points; Mario 153 laps, Gary 144, Mick 140, Harry 135, Ron and our neighbour across from the ‘ditch’ and new racer Andrew, welcome! Both completed 130 laps.

Ranger Col was closest to breakout with 5.508 on the purple lane.

Race two: Group 5 - Routed

As per previous Group 5 races, we saw nice close racing, but this time a lot of controversy. As Pete claws his way to the top of the table with another win but this time sharing the spoils with Sean each completing 186 laps, each would have collected 18 points however during scrutineering a (well made) brace was used to support the motor and rear axle, however this is not part of our rules as such Sean was disqualified. As a result Graeme finished outright second with 185 laps (16 points), next was Ranger Col completing 184 laps, but unfortunately a large amount of hot glue was used to brace the motor which again is not allowed as that amount of glue also acts as weight ballast as a result Ranger Col was also disqualified. Next car to be scrutinised was Gary’s and came out clean, Gary completed 181 laps (12 points) Michael was next with 179 laps (8 points), Mario snuck in the points by default, completing 178 laps (4 points) as dis Craig completing 177 laps (1 point), the following drivers did not earn points, Steve Z 175, Jamie 173, Andrew 172, Ron 160, Harry 158, Mick 156, Sean and Ranger Col by disqualification.

Gary took out fastest lap with 5.019 on the purple lane.

Race three: Scaley/Carrera GT – Carrera

This newly revised class proved relatively close racing, all racers ended up being 11 laps apart from first to last, considering there are 14 drivers that’s not bad… Mario completing 106 laps (20 points), two laps behind was Pete closing the gap up top, with 104 laps (16 points) Michael & Ranger Col were tied with 103 laps (10 points each) Gary and Craig were locked together at the wheels each completing 102 laps (2 ½ points each) the following missed out on points; Graeme & Steve Z both on 101 laps, Ron (the GT breakout King) completed 100 out of a possible 105/106 laps, Sean and Jamie both finished with 98 laps, Harry 96 and Mick completed 95 laps

Ranger Col was closest to breakout with 6.904 on the difficult red lane.

So where does this leave us???? The heat is certainly on!!!!

Hi Racers, Here are the standings wit one round to go.

Wednesday Night Racing Round 15 Race Results 3/6

Nine drivers turned up this week,

Race One: V8 Super Cars - Routed

As always V8s provide close racing with six of the nine drivers finishing three laps apart. Pete started off his final run home to claim top spot on the ladder by taking first place completing 153 laps (20 points), Graeme and Gary were locked together on 152 laps (14 points each), Mick was next on 151 laps (8 points) with Craig and Ranger Col hot on his tail completing 150 laps (2½ points each), the following didn’t earn points, Steve Z 147 laps, Jamie 146, and our one time points leader Mario 142 laps .

Fastest lap not recorded

Race two: DTM - Routed

One of my favourite and certainly one of the nicest looking and closest form of racing, again hasn’t disappointed with seven of the nine racers finishing within four laps from first to last. Top spot was split three ways between Gary, Ranger Col and Pete all completing 159 laps (16 points each), one off the pace and tied together was Craig and Jamie on 158 (6 points each) Graeme and Steve Z were also tied on 155 laps (½ point each), Mick was next with 151 laps followed by Mario with 147 laps.

Fastest lap not recorded

Race three: Scaley/Carrera GT – Carrera

This is certainly a class to stay, super close racing and for the first time we have a four way split…, all racers ended up being only 9 laps apart from first to last, Pete hit the trifecta (even though the DTM was tied) completing 105 laps (20 points), three ahead of his closest rival, that’s some driving… well done to the quadruplets Mario, Gary, Craig and Ranger Col completing 102 laps (10 points each), one short of making it a quintuplet was Steve Z on 101 laps and earning the last point on offer. the following missed out on points; Mick 100 laps, Jamie 97 laps and Graeme 96 laps

Pete was closest to breakout with 6.913 on the orange lane.

Points as they stand , Pete is starting to walk (drive) away with this comp…

Hello Fellow Racers, sorry for the delayed update.

First of all I would like to congratulate Pistol Pete for claiming last seasons overall championship after being behind Pete showed his class to do it easy with a few rounds to go.

So moving onto our current Winter Cup season of racing which kicked off start of July. Results and race reports are below for the first 4 rounds of racing. Thanks Jamie for the race reports.

Hello,

After a couple of false starts with the computer racing got underway with everyone's favourite class, Stockers. The routed track is well suited to this class and the racing was close. Coming out on top was Pete with 91 laps followed by Craig, Graeme and Mario each on 89. I was just behind on 88 with Michael on 87, Sean on 85 and Oliver on 79.

Next up was NASCAR on the party track with Pete again coming out on top with 80 laps with Craig on 78 and Michael and I on 76. Mario was right on our tails with 75 laps, Graeme on 74 and Oliver on 61 just pipping Sean on 60.

Last up and back on the wooden track was Group 5. This time Pete did it tough and had to share the victory with Graeme, both finished with 113 laps. Sean was right behind on 112 with Andrew on 108. Michael and Craig tied on 107 with me on 104, Oliver 103 and Mario on 101.

So after round 1 of the Winter Cup the standings are:

Pete 29 Graeme 24 Craig 23 Michael 19 Jamie 18 Mario 16 Sean 16 Oliver 11 Andrew 7 Dale 0 Gary 0 Harry 0 Matt T 0 Mick 0 Ranger Col 0 Steve Z 0

Points are award for 1st to 10th place. 1st gets 10pts, 2nd 9pts, 3rd 8pts and so on down to 10th place 1 point.

Hello again,

It was a small but quality field of drivers that turned up for Round 2 of the Winter Cup. First class up for the night was Classics (Pre '68) on the Carrera track. Coming home first in the flying skateboard was Pete on 72 laps with Mario and Ranger Col tied for second spot on 70 laps. I came in next on 69 laps with Craig right behind me on 68 laps then Steve Z 66 laps and Mick 64 laps.

Next up was Sports Sedans (Pre 90's) again on the Carrera track with a couple of rocket ships taking out first and second spot leaving the rest of us to fight for the minor places. First of the rocket ships was Mario on 76 laps with Pete just a lap behind on 75 laps. Ranger Col in his mighty Camaro was third on 72 laps with Craig and I tied on 70 laps then Steve Z 67 laps and Mick 62 laps.

Last class for the night was the Sideways Group 5 class. Instead of racing on the usual wooden track it was decided to continue the fun on the Carrera track and what a great decision it was. The racing was fast and fair and driver errors few and far between. In first place and the third different winner for the nigh was Ranger Col with 79 laps. Pete and I tied for second on 78 laps with Mario coming home third on 77 laps after jumping the start in the final bracket. Craig finished on 76 laps, Steve Z 75, Mick 73 and Andrew who was having his first race on this track 70 laps. 3 different makes of car took out the first 4 places which shows what a great equalizer this track is.

So after Round 2 the points standing are:

Pete 56 Mario 42 Craig 41 Jamie 41 Ranger Col 26 Graeme 24 Michael 19 Sean 16 Steve Z 15 Mick 12 Oliver 11 Andrew 10 Dale 0 Gary 0 Harry 0 Matt T 0

Hello again,

Round 3 of the Winter Cup had us lining up to race Retro Rally, Modern Rally and Historic Le Mans on the Carrera track.

First up was Retro Rally and the breakout time caught a few drivers out but coming out on top was Ranger Col with 129 laps. Tied for second was Michael, Craig and Steve Z on 127. Pete came in next on 125 with Gary, the grey nomad, and Mick tied on 124 with me just behind on 123 and Sean coming in with 120 laps after breaking out about 27 times.

Next up was Modern Rally with Ranger Col again coming in first but this time tied with Steve Z on 129 laps closely followed by Pete on 128, Sean 127, Michael 126, Gary 125, Craig 124, me 123 and Mick 121. Again the breakout time caught a few drivers out which mean back to the drawing board to get the cars on the correct pace.

Last up was Historic Le Mans raced in the handicap format. After qualifying we had Michael on scratch with Sean the fastest qualifier starting on 18 seconds. The handicap format has in the past tended to favour the slower cars but this wasn't the case tonight. After having misplaced the piece of paper with each of the heat results I can tell you the final consisted of Graeme, Pete, Michael, Mick and Sean. We don't see if often but Sean did a great job by not only being the fastest qualifier and he also took out the race followed by Graeme, the second fastest qualifier, then Michael, Pete and Mick. Throughout the heats the handicapping worked out very well with one heat having the field covered by 2.5 seconds. As the handicap format only really places the drivers who make the final each of the drivers who didn't make the final will be awarded equal points for sixth place.

So the points table after 3 rounds looks like this:

Pete 77 Craig 58 Jamie 52 Ranger Col 51 Mario 42 Michael 42 Steve Z 36 Sean 35 Graeme 33 Mick 24 Gary 15 Oliver 11 Andrew 10 Dale 0 Harry 0 Matt T 0

Hello again,

9 drivers attended Round 4 of the Winter Cup at Slot Shop this week for a double Enduro event.

First up was V8 Supercars on the Routed track with 5 minute brackets over 6 lanes. Sometimes the racing can be close and sometimes someone turns up with a rocketship but this time the racing was close. First home was Pete with 299 laps with Craig coming home in second spot on 295 and Gary in third spot just behind with 294 laps. A small gap saw Graeme on 290, Sean 288 and Mick on 286 laps. Then we had Ranger Col on 283, Mario 280 and Steve Z on 274 laps.

The second race for the night was the Scalextric/Carrera GT class and don't we all love a breakout class to keep the racing close. In a reversal of form Steve Z, who came 9th in the V8's, came home first with 306 laps followed closely by Sean on 305 laps and Craig on 304 laps. Graeme was right behind them on 302 laps then Mario on 293 just got home ahead of Mick on 292. Gary was next on 286 laps with Ranger Col on 238 and Pete, doing it tough, on 146.

After Round 4 the standing look like this:

Pete 89 Craig 75 Ranger Col 58 Jamie 52 Mario 51 Sean 50 Steve Z 48 Graeme 47 Michael 42 Mick 34 Gary 27 Oliver 11 Andrew 10 Dale 0 Harry 0 Matt T 0

Next weeks racing is Stockers, NASCAR and Porsche Cup but check the website to confirm.

Hi Racers,

Please see update

A good turn out of 12 drivers turn up for Round 5 of the Winter Cup with Stockers, NASCAR and Porsche Cup as the three classes for the night.

First up on the Party track was NASCAR and oh how close was the racing. 7 laps separated 1st from 9th spot so any driver errors or reckless driving was going to be costly. Mastering the track was Mario doing just enough to take out the win with 133 laps with Pete second on 132 and Graeme coming home third on 131. Craig was the best of the rest with 130 laps closely followed by Sean, Steve Z and Ranger Col all tied on 129 laps. I was next on 127 with Chris 126, Riley 114 and Ron on 111 laps.

Next we had Stockers on the Routed track and again the racing was very close this time with Pete showing us how it is done with 124 laps. Craig was just a lap behind in second with 123 laps and Mario third with 121 laps. Sean was right behind with 120 laps then Graeme, Ranger Col and I all tied on 119 laps. Chris was next with 114 laps, Steve Z 112, Greg 108, Ron 103 and Riley rounded out the field with 96 laps.

Last up for the night was the super quick Porsche Cup and weren't there some rocket ships on the track. After an average night by his high standards we saw Ranger Col coming home first on 149 laps two laps clear of second placed Sean on 147 then tied in third spot was Graeme and Pete on 145 laps. Craig was close on there heels with 144 laps then a bit of a gap back to Steve Z 138, Mario 137 and me on 133. Chris came in next on 129 laps with Greg and Ron tied on 119 then Riley on 84 laps.

So after 5 rounds of the Winter Cup the standings look like this:

Pete 115 Craig 97 Ranger Col 76 Mario 73 Sean 72 Graeme 69 Jamie 63 Steve Z 60 Michael 42 Mick 34 Gary 27 Oliver 11 Andrew 10 Chris 7 Greg 2 Riley 1 Dale 0 Harry 0 Matt T 0 Ron 0

Hello Racers

Last week's racing consisted of Touring Cars on the Carrera track and V8's and Porsche Cup on the Routed track.

First up was Touring Cars and the Touring Car Master was Craig with 106 laps well clear of the chasing pack. Second spot went to Pete with 103 laps and Mario in third spot with 102 laps. Ranger Col and Sean tied on 101 laps and Graeme and Ron tied on 98 laps with Steve Z 96 laps and Mick 93 laps.

Off to the Routed track then for V8 Supercars and coming home first was Sean with 105 tied with Pete and Craig all on 105 laps. Graeme missed out by just a lap with 104 laps with Ranger Col 102 and Mick and Mario tied on 101 laps. Steve Z finished with 98 laps and Ron comfortably finishing in the top ten with 93 laps.

Last up for the night was the Porsche Cup and if you think this race was going to as close as the other 2 classes for the night you'd be horribly wrong. On 256 laps was Pete a mile clear of Sean with 249 laps who was even further in front of third placed Graeme on 240 laps. Ranger Col came in next with 239 laps, Craig 237 laps then Mario 231, Steve Z 230, Ron 211 and Mick 203 laps.

Hello again,

9 drivers turned up to race Round 7 of the Winter Cup with Pre '68 Classics, Pre '90 Sports Sedans and Porsche Cup on the agenda.

First up on the the Carrera Track was Pre '68 Classics and the usual number of great looking cars appeared. Driving the Flying Skateboard into first spot was Pete with 131 laps followed by Ranger Col with 129 laps then Mario in third on 128 laps. I was next on 124 laps, with Craig next on 123 laps. Michael, who had some controller and finger control problems tied with Steve Z on 118 laps with Graeme on 112 and Mick on 110 laps rounding out the field.

Next up on the Carrera track was Pre '90 Sports Sedans and again there was a wide variety of cars on the track. Mario and Pete came home first tied on 135 laps with Steve Z right behind on 134 laps then Michael and Graeme tied on 133 laps. Ranger Col was just off the pace with 131 laps. Craig in the coolest but apparently most difficult to drive V dub you've seen was next on 122 laps with me on 120 and Mick on 119 laps.

Last up for the night was the Porsche Cup back on the Routed track. Coming home first was Pete on 188 laps with daylight second. Brocky might have won Bathurst by 6 laps but he's got nothing on Pete who won by 11 laps. The best of the rest were Graeme on 177 laps, Ranger Col 176 laps, Mario 172 laps, Michael 170 laps, Craig and Steve Z tied on 170 laps then Mick and I both tied on 157 laps.

After Round 7 of the Winter Cup we have Pete extending his lead over Craig and Craig extending his lead over Ranger Col. Sean dropped a few spots after not being able to race. Mario managed to half the gap to Ranger Col but Graeme after being just a point behind Mario has now slipped 6 points behind. Steve Z continues to add to his points and working his way towards the top 5.

Hi Racers

8 drivers last week for Round 8 of the Winter Cup which was held on the Party track over 4 lanes. The classes for the night were Retro Rally, Modern Rally and Golden Oldies.

First up was Retro Rally and in a close race we had Mario on top with 125 laps with me second on 124 and Graeme and Mick tied for third on 122 laps. Steve Z on 199 laps managed to just stay ahead of Craig on 117 laps and Ranger Col on 116 laps with Gary making a return to racing on 108 laps.

Next up was Modern Rally and in a great move by Eddy had us racing in the opposite direction to usual. With no practice laps we got underway and overall the standard of driving I thought was quite good with everyone getting the hang of the track resulting in a lack of carnage. At the end of racing we had Ranger Col in a box stock Avant take the win with 133 laps. Mick was right behind on 132 laps with Gary on 131 laps. Steve Z came in fourth on 130 laps followed by me on 128, Mario 127, Craig 126 and Graeme on 112 laps. As it was the first time we had raced this class on this track in this direction we had no breakout time. After much discussion about what the breakout time should be, taking into consideration the number of complaints about breakout times being too slow, the breakout time for this class on this track, in both directions, has now been set at 4.8 sec. This time is 1/10th quicker than the fastest lap set on the night.

Last up for the night was Golden Oldies held in the Handicap format. A great variety of cars was on the grid which ranged from a very fast Ford P68 to a quite slow Jaguar Mk2. After qualifying was held be had Mario as fastest qualifier on 28 secs, followed by Steve Z on 19 sec, Craig 15 sec, Mick 13 sec, Graeme 12 sec, Ranger Col 8 sec, Gary 5 sec and me off scratch. The heats were held with only a couple of breakouts which left us with a Consolation Final of Mario, Graeme, Steve Z and Mick. Interesting to see that 3 of the quickest qualifiers were in this final. As it turned Mario, the fastest qualifier came out on top, followed by Graeme, Steve Z and Mick. The main Final was a close and quick race so quick that Craig who took it out broke out as did Gary who came in second. After the racing finished and the breakout times checked the final standings were Ranger Col first, Jamie second, Craig third and Gary fourth.

So after Round 8 of the Winter Cup the standings are:

Pete 172

Craig 153

Ranger Col 142

Mario 136

Graeme 123

Hello again,

Round 1 of the Spring Cup got underway last night with Group C, Le Mans and Trucks

First up was Group C on the Routed track and with everyone using the same motor and gearing the racing was going to be close and it was. Coming out on top was Graeme with 119 laps tied with Ranger Col on 119 laps. Tied for second was Steve Z and Pete on 118 laps. Next was Mario on 117 laps, Gary 116 laps, Craig 113 laps, Mick 105 laps and Allan on 82 laps. I turned up with the wrong car for the class and was relegated to last spot. Fastest lap went to Pete with a 4.988 on Purple lane.

Next up on the Routed track was Le Mans (post 1992) and coming home a mile in front was Craig on 203 laps. Daylight was second. Pete came home next on 192 laps tied with Ranger Col. Mario followed on 190 laps, Gary 186 laps, Graeme 180 laps, Steve Z 174 laps, Mick 171 laps, me 170 laps and Allan on 110 laps. Fastest lap went to Craig with a 4.266 on Purple lane.

Down to the Carrera track we went for the debut race for Trucks. After racing Le Mans on foam tyres on the Routed track it was hard to get your head around the pace and handling, or lack of, of the Trucks on the Carrera track. Craig seemed to have no problem with it though and whipped the field completing 83 laps and showing his Le Mans victory was no fluke. Again it was daylight second then Pete and Ranger Col tied on 76 laps, Mario 75 laps, Mick, Graeme and I tied on 74 laps, Gary 73 laps, Steve Z 72 laps and Adam 61 laps. Fastest lap went to Craig with a blistering 7.111 on Orange lane.

So after round 1 here are the current standings:

Pete

25

Ranger Col

25

Craig

24

Graeme

20

Mario

20

Gary

14

Steve Z

A good turn up of 10 drivers showed for Round 2 of the Spring Cup. The classes for the night were Small car, V8 Muscle Cars (60's to 70's) on the Party track and Trucks on the Carrera track.

After much discussion about break out times for these classes on the Party track and what the Small Car class was trying to achieve (small but very fast car's or small slower car's that you wouldn't normally race, like a VW Beetle) it was decided, surprise surprise, to go for small very fast cars. So first up was Small Car's on the Party track with a break out time of 5.7sec. Doing just enough to take out the win was Pete with 125 laps followed by Craig 123 laps and Mick 121 laps. Ranger Col was next on 120 laps tying with Sean then Mario just a lap behind on 119 laps. I was next with 116 laps then Graeme 114, Michael 112 and Gary 103 laps.

Next up was Muscle Cars with a 5.5 breakout time. Coming from near the end of the field in the Small Car class was Michael taking out the win with 130 laps with Ranger Col second on 129 laps then Graeme, Sean, Pete and Mario all tied on 128 laps. I came in next on 124 laps with Gary finishing on 122 laps, Mick 120 laps just edging out Craig on 119 laps.

Last up for the night was Trucks on the Carrera track. After the run away win he had last week in the Truck class Craig was relegated to second place this week with 98 laps after Ranger Col got on the pace and took the win with 99 laps. These two were the class of the field lapping between 0.3 to 0.7 secs a lap faster than third placed Sean on 92 laps. Pete came home next on 91 laps with me and Michael tied on 90 laps then Graeme and Mario tied on 89 laps. Gary finished on 86 laps and Mick rounded out the field on 84 laps. Although Ranger Col and Craig put in some fast laps they couldn't match Craig's lap record time of 7.111 on Orange lane.

So after 2 rounds of the Spring Cup the standings are:

Ranger Col 51

Pete 48

Craig 43

Graeme 35

Mario 33

Mick 23

Jamie 21

Sean 21

Gary 20

Michael 17

Steve Z 14

We are delighted to advise all racers that ‘POSITIVE’ configured controllers can now be used on the Routed Track at the Slot Shop, the other tracks are to follow soon.

The connection is the standard 240V AC plug, commonly used at most commercial tracks.

So next time you visit the Slot Shop, make sure you bring your own controller...

Hello,

Round 3 of the Spring Cup had 10 drivers show for a nights racing on the Carrera track with Can Am, DTM and Trucks on the program.

First up was Can Am and in the usual close racing for this class we had the top 5 drivers separated by 2 laps. Coming out on top was Ranger Col with 106 tied with Gary followed by Graeme and Craig both tied on 105 laps with Pete right behind on 104 laps. Mario and I were next tied on 101 laps with Adam on 93 laps just pipping Mick on 92 laps with Harry on 84 laps after a screw falling out of someone's car damaged his car.

Next up was DTM and this time 2 laps separated the top 6 drivers. Pete this time came out on top by himself on 108 laps. Ranger Col and I tied on 107 laps with Graeme, Craig and Mario all tied on 106 laps. Gary came home next on 101 laps tied with Mick and Adam rounded out the field on 95 laps.

Last up was the third round of the Trucks which I'm finding great fun to drive, can't wait for the upcoming Enduro Eddie is organizing. Back on top was Craig with 100 laps, Ranger Col was next on 96 laps and me on 93 laps. Pete was next on 92 laps, Mario 91 laps and Graeme 89 laps. Gary was next on 79 laps, Eddie 74 laps, Adam 65 laps and Mick on 46 laps. Apart from some mechanical problems Gary, Eddie, Adam and Mick would all have been around the 90 lap mark.

All in all Round 3 was another very good night of close racing.

Hello,

Good to see 10 drivers could make it to Round 4 of the Slot Shop Spring Cup for the return of F1. It's been too long since we've raced these cars and with 3 classes spread over various era's racing there was a fabulous variety of cars on the track. Racing was on the Party track.

First up was GP Classics ('50-'69) and although some of the newer Scalextric cars fit into this category it was decided to stick to the era of cars similar to the Cartrix Grand Prix Legends. Coming away with the win was Michael with 128 laps, Pete second with 125 laps and Ranger Col third with 123 laps. Steve Z was next on 121 laps, Craig and Gary tied on 119 laps, then Mario 117 laps, me 115 laps, Mick 111 laps and Graeme 109 laps. Michael also took the Fastest lap with a 5.484 on Orange lane.

Next up was Retro F1 which consisted of two races, one between Ranger Col and Pete, and another race between the rest of us. Needless to say Ranger Col took out the race with 142 laps but tied with Pete. It was interesting to see the Best Lap times printout. I'm sure you've all seen the computer screen which shows the fastest laps. Well the printout this week also included a Racers T-Time. Ranger Col's T-Time was lower than Pete's that's why he came first. What's the T-Time you may ask, well it is the total of your best lap times and all Ranger Col's best lap times added up to be less than all of Pete's best lap times. That was explained to me some time back by Roland but it was good to see it on the printout just to confirm it. Anyway back to the race results. Coming in third on 135 laps was Graeme followed by me on 134, Gary 133, Craig 132, Michael 130, Mick 129, Mario 128 and Steve Z 127. That is some very close racing. Fastest lap went to Ranger Col with a 4.960 on Blue lane.

Originally the Retro F1 race was to be a handicap race but on the night it was run as the straight out race. A vote was held at the end of the race with the outcomes being. Retro F1 will not in future be a handicap race but a restricted race with standard cars. No silicone tyres can be used. It was also voted that the class will remain as one class not two. The two classes would have been the late 1960's style of car as one class and the other being early to late 1970's style cars. Maybe sometime in the future this class will split.

Again back to the racing and the last class for the night was current Modern F1. With a comfortable 2 lap lead on the field was Pete on 142 laps with Craig and Michael next tied on 140 laps followed by Ranger Col on 137 laps. Then we had a bit of a gap back to Gary on 132 laps, Graeme 130 laps, Mario 128 laps, Steve Z and I tied on 127 laps with Mick right behind on 126 laps. Fastest lap went to Pete with a 4.992 on Blue lane.

All in all it was a great night of racing with very little damage done to these fragile cars, this was partly due to the high quality of driving and partly due to the slower nature of the party track compared to the other more high speed tracks. Congratulations to each of the drivers for their sensible driving. In saying that the races weren't just parade laps there was some very close and fast racing.

So after Round 4 the standings are

Ranger Col 104

Pete 99

Craig 86

Graeme 69

Mario 59

Gary 54

Jamie 53

Michael 39

Mick 35

Steve Z 25

Hello,

Well Wednesday Night saw Round 2 of the Enduro Championship held and looking at the calendar that was the final round of the Championship. You may remember back in July round 1 was held with GT and V8 Supercars. This round for a change of pace was Porsche Cup and Group 5, two of the faster classes and in the case of Group 5 a very competitive class.

First up to sort out the men from the boys was Porsche Cup or apparently the NSR Porsche Cup by the number of them racing. With 5 minute brackets over 6 lanes the race could have been a blow out but the results were quite close. Pete took it out with 352 laps with Mario 347 laps and Craig on 342 laps. Next we had Ranger Col and Graeme tied on 339 laps, Steve Z 333, me 322 just sneaking ahead of Adam on 320 laps and Mick right behind on 316 laps. Gary after some car troubles was next on 294 with first timer Ranger Chris on 274 laps and Allan rounding out the field with 259 laps. Fastest lap went to Pete with a 4.937 on Purple lane.

Next up was Group 5 and this surprisingly was a bit of a blow out. After warming his car up in the Porsche Cup Ranger Col blew everyone away finishing on 352 laps. Steve Z took a great second spot with 341 laps just ahead of Graeme on 340 laps. Mario was right behind them on 337 laps with Craig on 335 and Pete on 334. Then there was the rest of us. Gary came in next on 327 laps, me on 324 laps, Mick 323 laps, Adam 296 laps, Ranger Chris 277 laps and Allan on 263 laps. Although Ranger Col blew the field away the fastest lap went to Graeme with a 4.987 on Orange lane on the last lap of his bracket.

So with no more rounds of the Enduro Championship on the calendar for the year the final standings are:

Craig 31

Graeme 28

Pete 27

Steve Z 26

Mario 25

RangerCol 24

Gary 17

Sean 15

Mick 14

Hello Racers,

Well after a weeks break from the Spring Cup with an Enduro Night racing got back underway for the second half of the Spring Cup. Classes for the night were Group C and Le Mans on the routed track and Ninco 1 on the Carrera track.

First up was Group C and taking out a comfortable win was Pete with 142 laps, second was Gary with 139 laps and tied for third was Ranger Col and Mario on 138 laps. Craig and Mick tied on 137 laps with Steve Z right behind on 136 laps, then we had Glen 132 laps, me 130 laps and Allan 114 laps. Fastest lap went to Pete with a 4.939 on Blue lane.

Next up were the foam tyred Le Mans cars and doing it easy for a win was Craig with 157 laps with Pete coming home second on 153 laps and Gary taking out third spot with 151 laps. Mario was next tied with Steve Z on 148 laps then a few old gap to the rest of us with Mick on 140 laps, Glen 135 laps, me 134 laps and Allan 122 laps. Fastest lap went to Craig with a 4.419 on Yellow lane.

Down to the Carrera track we went for the Ninco 1 class and it was good to see a third different class winner for the night. Taking it out was Ranger Col, the man who has priorities right when it comes to slot car racing and wives birthday's. He took out the win with 91 laps followed by Pete 89 laps, and Mario and Craig tied on 87 laps. Steve Z managed 86 laps with Gary and I tied on 85 laps then Glen on 84 laps and Mick on 82 laps. Fastest lap went to Ranger Col with a 6.523 on Green lane.

So after Round 5 the standing look like this:

Another good night of racing was had last week at the Slot Shop with V8 Muscle Cars, Small cars and Ninco 1 Muscle cars on the program for the night.

First up was V8 Muscle cars on the Routed track and as usual the racing was close with a good variety of Muscle cars on the track. Taking out the win was Craig with 124 laps followed my me, Michael and Ranger Col all tied on 123 laps then Pete on 122 laps. Gary wasn't far behind on 119, Mario 118, Sean 117, Steve Z 115 and Adam on 79 laps after a few mechanical problems. These break out classes always produce good close racing which was the case with this class. The break out time on the Routed track was 5.7 sec and 9 out of the 10 drivers managed to punch out a 5.7-5.8 sec lap.

Next race up was Small cars on the Party track. Again what a great variety of cars lined up on the grid. This time the winner was Pete with 125 laps just holding off Ranger Col with 124 laps then Sean on 120 laps. Craig and Mario were next tied on 119 laps, Michael and I were tied on 117 laps and Steve Z and Adam tied on 113 laps. Gary rounded out the field finishing with 108 laps. Being a new class blokes are still tuning their cars to the break out time of 5.7 sec but in saying that every driver managed out pull out a 5.7 or 5.8 sec lap. Watch this class it's only going to get closer.

Last race for the night saw us move down to the Carrera track for the Ninco 1 Muscle Car class. Being a newer class blokes are still tuning the cars to get the best out of them under the rules. Needless to say some have got on the pace quicker than other which shows in the results. This time we had Ranger Col and Pete tied for first on 94 laps with Craig just behind on 92 laps. Sean and Mario tied on 88 laps with Michael 85 laps, Adam 79 laps, me 75 laps, Steve Z after some car problems 69 laps and likewise with some car problems Gary on 65 laps.

So after Round 6 of the Spring Cup the standings are:

Ranger Col 153

Pete 152

Craig 134

Mario 97

Gary 83

Jamie 78

Graeme 69

Michael 56

Steve Z 48

Mick 46

Hi Racers,

Well I am taking the up the duty of giving a race report. I am not good with words unlike poet Jamie is. So I just tabled the results.

It was the final round of the Spring Cup. Although the result may not have changed with Pete taking top spot again. The points were close and the racing was even closer, with the Carrera track again being a challenge to drive. If you have a bad night (like Ranger Col did), it can effect your whole championship efforts. Such is racing.
