Looking For Pit Pro Deluxe

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm new to the slot car game I'm looking for a pit pro deluxe and a apb6 usb cable. I was on riko rocket website but it doesn't seem to be working. Is there any Australian dealers or anyone have a second hand one they don't use, Thanks.

For the Pit Lane Pro, you can use the "Smart Sensor" instead.

http://www.smartsensor.seras.dk/

Occasionally, the Pit Lane Pro's are listed on ebay too (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Scalextric-Digital-PIT-PRO-Deluxe-suit-C7042-/321637656157?pt=UK_Toys_Games_Scalextrics_Slot_Cars_ET&hash=item4ae319265d)...

For the APB usb cable, you can get a 'proper' one through MIH on this forum, or via his site http://www.electrici.../Pro_Order.ashx

A cheaper option is this RS485 adaptor from ebay, but you will need to wire it up, and makes sure to ground it, and fit a 120ohm resistor at each end of the cable. http://www.ebay.com....984.m1436.l2649

PS. Welcome to the forum...

RikoRocket is a member of this forum and others, PM him for both the Pit Pro deluxe and the cable, save you money on postage I'd say if you can get hold of both at the same time.

I got my APB cable and the Pit Pro Deluxe from RikoRocket some time ago now, well worth the investment.

Not recommended, this chip set loses packets at the data speeds we run at, we ended up with the much more expensive FTDI chipset which works perfectly. I have a large box of the PL USB converters - free to anyone who wants to pay postage. If you want to build your own then there is a board direct from FTDI - http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/Cables/USBRS485.htm

If you lose a packet then you lose control momentarily, not good if you are about to brake for a corner...

Thanks for the information RikoRocket.

Shadow_Rusty and myself had a good play with the PL chips and found the data signals very noisy on the oscilloscope, and adding the termination resistors helped clean it up.

I have to admit that I have not done high stress testing of the PL chips, so when I build a permanent track, I will take your advise and get a FTDI base RS485 converter.
