Hi all, I'm wanting to get my hands on a couple of yellow Sideways motors like those used in their Group 5 cars.

I've got a couple of projects on the drawing board that these motors would suit real good.

PM please,
Bram

Racer/Sideways use Slot.it running gear, so I would assume that the motor in question is a Slot.it yellow bell 25k rpm.
Computers. They'll never catch on.

Wobble, - as per Ember, Sideways are Slot.it running gear. Embs - they're a Flat-6 (wrapped in yellow paper)

They are the same standard Flat-6 as used in Slot.it LMP and GT cars.
Flat 6 Open can motor 20,000RPM SIMN09ch

Bump.

I'm on the prowl again for a Flat 6 or 2. My Sideways M1 is getting hammered in a straight line (by other flat 6 powered Group 5 cars) and I figure the motor is past its best before date and my SCX Audi LMP pro is in need of an upgrade too.
If you have 1 or 2 you're happy to part with let me know. Thanks.

Have you tried shooting it up with a spot of comm or braid juice.

First, download the App for your phone called GIRI - it is an RPM checker. Run the motor at 12v on the bench, check the rpm.
Feed it a squirt of braid juice as close to the brushes as you can, shake it roughly dry - run again. You might find you have a couple of thousand more RPM and better torque.

You could upgrade to a red or black version of the motor is allowed in your class.

I've done the Zippo thing on it and it speeds up for a few min until it dries out and then it's back to the same rpm's as my Mustang and Montecarlo (my other group 5 cars are sidewinders) and on the bench it runs smoother and quieter than those but doesn't translate to the track. This car has always seemed a bit slow but 2 laps down at the end of a 3min race with no offs on Wednesday evening confirmed that. Yellow's the way to go for this class.

Hi Wobble.

As you will have gathered yellow flat six is just a standard Slot-it item. 21500rpm I think. They have good speed and brakes in my view. Sounds like you might have a slow motor but they are usually fairly consistent. Mark's suggestions seems worth a try. If it goes well around corners that is half the battle. I have standard motor in one G5 and a black version in other. There is not a lot of difference. Best of luck. Regards Charles Le Breton
