aquakiwi
Nice - I am getting one of those soon Who did the body for that one? Its a Protoslot that I obtained cheaply. I was hoping the HRS2 chassis would fit and with a bit of shortening it did.

aquakiwi
Looks like something that could be easily muntered................ if you get my meaning Yes an extra racing shell would be handy. Does anyone know what size wheels and tyres it raced on? Edited July 10, 2014 by aquakiwi
dangermouse
I would say 15" halibrands - something like on the Scalextric GT40 would suit looking at the pic I am guessing you shortened the HRS at the front - was that the only change? cheers David

munter
Nice line up, Phil. I do have the correct inserts for the Lola. They are for a BWA 15" rim. 0.450" diameter I guess. Quote John Warren Slotcars are my preferred reality
kalbfellp
Oops we seem to be getting off track from the great build. The kit should have decals and inserts with it to complete the build. I love the Mecom cars and have started to try and collect as many as possible. I have the Scarsb on the workbench, Lola painted, Hussein I built some years ago. Several RTR on the shelf. But I still have a long way to go. Can't wait to see this one finished.Well done getting the HRS under the body. dangermouse
Yes I don't mind the odd Mecom racing livery on a car - I have the the 250GTO and 250LM, Chappy 1 and I will add the scarab and Lola to that as well wouldn't mind the Lola T70 spyder thought the revell one isn't the right car the 66 indy winning Lotus was a Mecom car as well - might need to put together a list of cars to collect
aquakiwi
I've had to cut engine off the interior and mount a fraction higher, also trim its width to clear he tyres. Also replaced the drivers pan with card which being thinner allows a bit more driver to be fitted not to mention lightning it. Just waiting on some hubs and need to do the body mounts. dangermouse
Should the Mecom Lola have a rear spoiler or not? I have seen photos of #24 with a rear spoiler and photos of it with #20 and it seems it doesn't have a spoiler - but it could be the photo. Also trying to work out the decals - on the side of the #20 it has Champion and Esso and then a rectangle and a Goodyear logo. Anyone know what the rectangle is? thanks David
Terry
This shows a spoiler
kalbfellp
David you need to decide which car you want to build. No 20 was Sebring March 64 No spoiler, usual Mecom Racing and Goodyear on the door, small champion on the top frog if door, what may be Pure at front edge of door and circular Wynns or Perfect Circle I think just in front of the intake on the rear gaurd. No 00 June 64 no spoiler, Mecon on the door, champion just in front of that and Traco Chevrolet over the rear wheel arch. By September the rear spoiler appeared at Road America. No 1 No 24 was on the car at Riverside when it was destroyed.the Tigers heads on the flares,Mecom on the doors, champion on the rear gaurd between door handle and intake and Enco up high. The pic Terry has found must be the restored car as te opening in the rear panel is from all the pics from 1964 that I have. dangermouse
Thanks Phil I was planning on the #20 car - is this the Mecom Logo? http://www.cobracountry.com/kress/kress-decal-MECOM-333x190.jpg Only pain with the #20 cars is the roundel on the back they will be tricky. Terry
That pic I posted was the #24 car which has been fully restored and was about to go under the hammer at RM auctions with a estimate of 1.5 - 2 million, apparently did not sell.
