Sideways Bmw M1 Basic Setup Video

Recommended Posts

I just cracked open one of the new Group 5 BMWs by Sideways/Racer

So below is what I did to bring one into the sort of tune we use for our local club racing.

No wild secrets, but for some there may be some useful tips.

Very nice video there...

Would bracing the original pod give similar results to the Slot-It one?

Hi Rusty

yeah it would of course, I have done two Sideways cars that way myself; but for a basic setup tutorial I wanted this one to be straight-forward for those who prefer a simple parts-and-screws-swap, and might not readily take to cutting brass rod or piano wire and gluing in place.

It also meant I could do the entire process over one afternoon while I had some spare time, only limited by the time it took for the chassis bath to cool and the glue to dry on the tyres - and a bit of time for oil treatment to soak the tyres.

Hah,

actual work time for the tune - about 90 minutes of which at least 15 was taking pics and video

time to compile the video article - about 75 minutes

time to upload the video - about 30 minutes

I therefor conclude that computers are a vastly greater time waster than slot cars.

I must mention this to my wife - while standing at a discreet distance with an open door close by chase.gif
