Well It's been a very productive weekend, Lots of little bits done, laid the braid, fitted the borders, painted a bit, glued a bit.

It is really starting to take on a personality of it's own now.

There are still a hundred little other things to do, but I think this is by far the best effort I have ever put into a track, and it shows.

What do you think of it?

Looks really good Andrew.. your last two tracks have a nice flowing shape and are very space efficient. Next track work on giving more room to the "fence" lanes - inside and outside.

Inside lanes especially need more wiggle room coming onto the straight as the car "fishtales" out of the tight turn.

Happy routing..

Not on this one, all he could get from Jim was the normal stuff and I hade to glue it down with contact adhesive, messy work at the best of times.

This track is now at the ready to test phase, so I will be offering anyone who wants to get in a few laps before it goes up to Penrith the chance to do so this Sunday. After all there are 6 lanes that need to be fine tuned and that is a lot of work for 1 guy, and who is going to marshal while I'm having all the fun?

Cheers

Andrew

Test day went very well, everyone who helped really enjoyed it.

There were no real glitches at all, the track is great fun and can be challenging in different lanes.

I wish I could hang on to this one a little longer, but it will be picked up tomorrow.

I will be as soon as Ken sends me a deposit so I can buy the materials.

It should look a lot like this one.

I've got the next 2 weeks off, school holidays, so I should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.

Are you building a track Andrew

What a silly question. Of course he's planning/building a new track. It's been at least 2 weeks since he finished his last one. :D

May the downforce be with you.

This is the second track for Penrith slots, they want it by the 20th.

I should be ready for testing this weekend.

You knocked that up in a week?

What's with the weird banked corner, is that intentional or did you leave something under it?

I spent today arguing with the braid, did I tell you how much I hate contact cement?

A week? no way, I only started on Sunday.................

The weird corner is so you can see it from the drivers stations, it's behind the main strait.

This track is in 2 pieces, and you can fit them on a car trailer or small truck.

The last one was in 3 pieces, same deal with transport.

Why not charge a little more and use the double sided tape.

2 guys can lay 400 feet of track in a couple or 3 hours.

One tapes, the other comes behind pressing it in hard, then you just peel back, then same deal with the braid, one flops it in the slot, the other follows behind giving final press.

Actually, I remember the better way is; one leads, holding the roll of braid and unraveling it to suit the layer, who just presses it into place, forcing to the outside edge of the rebate as he goes.

You can go about half walking pace in the laying that way.
