Capri-corn7
Some inserts and decals make a difference Have to agree, looks more purposeful John! Funny you posted this today as I finally managed to get some on to mine just last night... (had to grind off the 260Z badges to get the side stripes sitting flat) Also I'd originally planned to do the flares black. Undecided now...?? mopar
Look's great, may i ask what you used to get the chrome effect on the bumpers etc ?
Capri-corn7
Hey mopar, it was a product called Bare Metal Foil. Comes in a range of colours & sheens & is apparently real metal - real thin. It's on an adhesive backing and so you cut & stick. I'd borrowed a bit off a friend thinking it was going to be chrome, but he only had aluminium, which I think possibly worked better. - i.e not so reflective. Also used it behind the clear headlights and on the taillights with clear red over top. Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger. dangermouse
Did BRE race a 260z with flairs? after the release of the silver line 240z without them I have been looking for a photo of BRE 260z without a lot of luck so far DM
munter
I am not great on the historical side of things David. Maybe they did not use a 260 if there are no images of them in the BRE livery, plenty of them were raced though. David Carter
I am sure that the flares are just a custom accessory by pat but it sure looks good though he done a very nice job on them maybe we should look at running a datsun 260z class in the club what do you think munter Quote Holdens rule the rest just drool slot cars are my drug, ATCC/Bathurst proxy host NZ Grp5 proxy host. Capri-corn7
Hi DM - no I'm pretty sure that BRE only ran 240Z sans any flares. I used the scalextric 260 body and only added flares to make it fit the chassis I had. (Slot.it GT40) There is a post on the interweb somewhere where a guy shortened the Scaly 260Z's rear end to get a more accurate 240. tail lights etc are different too. But in the words of Tenacious D "it's just a tribute" The silver lines do look nice though. Quote They are only toys .... until you pull the trigger. mopar
Sorry to drag this thread out of the woodwork but I actually got down to my bench today. John , I have your resin body and a Slot It HRS chassis and when I put the two together the guide seems to be too far forward. Is There only one type of HRS chassis?
munter
I used the first version, there is a second version. On my build the guide placement was borderline...would it work? or wouldn't it work? It did but not by much. I did carve the body inner surface and maybe took an edge off the guide. mopar
Thanks John . I'm actually looking at a Fly Viper chassis I have . Track is about right may need to be a tiny bit shorter which means shortening the the drive shaft.
dangermouse
There are 2 HRS chassis the early one and the HRS/2 The front end guide holder is different
mopar
Thanks DM , doesn't seem to be a lot of difference in the two in relation to how far forward the guide is .
