Hi guys

The (in)famous Spanish driver, Juan Motor ;) , has arrived today and will be tested and installed in Mark's car this afternoon.

The other cars will also be tested / serviced as necessary.

Cheers
Dave

Hi guys

In between setting up my saloon cars for our club racing last night - not terribly well as it turned out <_< - and the actual racing itself, I tested over half the cars over 2 or 3 untimed laps of the infamous Manx Mountain stage.

Most were OK to drive, apart from Mark's (which is getting a new motor) and Freddie Vanger's - which has the same problem, i.e. no power and a smelly motor.... :o  . Team Red has a loose passenger (it will be interesting to watch him read the pace notes upside down and back to front...!!!!), whilst cars 18 and 19 don't like the camber changes on the Manx Mountain stage.... Most clearly need braids cleaned, so we'll do this and put a spot of oil on the gears for everyone before we run Stage 1.

Of the cars tested so far, the most comfortable and quickest cars to drive on the Mountain circuit were Beowulf, Team Red, Split Rim and FPV GTP. The rest of the cars will be tested today prior to Manx Round 1, Stage 1 - Pooil Vaaish - which is totally different - flat and made of Scaley classic track.

Final testing / fettling is from 1pm today at our club-room, then the stage starts in earnest around 3:30pm - kettle and sandwiches available....although we have a forecast 27C today, the highest of the summer, so maybe the odd cold beer afterwards .

Stage 2 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, with the final Stage 3 next week some time - depending on the availability of marshals/drivers.

I hope to post results and some photos over the weekend.

Urgent Appeal - As regards Freddie Vanger's car, if anyone in the UK has a spare motor, I'd be happy to re-imburse you if you could send it over to me asap, to carry out a transplant on Freddie's car. PM me please for address details.

Cheers
Dave

Dave,

Thanks for swapping the motor over - much appreciated. Can you pack the dud motor in the box as I'd like to have a look at the motor when the cars get back to Oz.

Good luck with the round.

Mark

Hey Dave , dont worry about the navvy, he was just grabbing extra pace notes for your track from the back seat ^_^ :D . By the way you know I dont like to hear that my car is running well before the main event . It's not good karma :D .
Cheers Craig

Morning guys

Most of Round 1, Stage 1 was completed on Friday afternoon, but for a handful of cars that had problems in the warm - up. They will have had some attention in the meantime and will be run first thing this afternoon on Stage 1. It wouldn't be fair to put a provisional listing up as yet, so I will just mention that the time for 12 laps (24 circuits of Scaley classic Pooil Vaaish, as there is a single crossover) varied from low 2mins 30's to just over 3 minutes - not many in that latter category, thankfully - and most were in the 2mins 40's to 2mins 50's bracket. Just a clue though....no Manx cars in the top 3...! :o

Today we will be running Stage 2 - the infamous Manx Mountain stage - so I hope to have something to post later tonight on Stage 1.

Freddie's car couldn't run due to it's smoking motor, so if it is OK, pending sourcing another motor, I will run it with a loan motor from my own car for the time being.

One car- No. 73 - had an intermittent power issue, which I'm not sure was a motor or wiring problem and which wasn't evident during warm-up and which I couldn't identify. Some laps it was OK, some it was struggling, so I am investigating. B) And car No. 59 had a loose rear end - afterwards the rear screw was found to be in the body, but just not to be in contact with the chassis...!

Cheers
Dave

Dave - put us out of our misery and post up what you have so far, I'm sure the insertion of a few non-run cars won't affect anyone too badly.

I've got negative 10 points to make up so looking forward to seeing where I've ended up with the new motor.....

Hey Dave , your lucky you cleared up the No. 59's loose rear end ( Poor old Snurfen ) , did you have to go to your local chemist as they would have something to fix that up :o :P :D

All that bloody foie gras and moules in France for the last two weeks mate. Nothing a good mouthful of Immodium won't calm down.

Bit disappointed it's taken a bit of damage - was right as rain when it left my place a few weeks back.
