This year we will only race Division 2 GT cars (front-engine and small mid-engine cars). Please refer to the official body/car list in the Technical Rules section. As in previous APC's all car entries in this class will receive concourse points (maximum 20) which will be added to the overall race result. So, please make sure that your car is well presented and features all obvious detail parts. New for 2013 in this class : - No changes to the regulations. The production of the 1300 Excel Chassis system came to an end last month and there will be no supply available anymore from Plafit. However we still have a reasonable good stock of chassis and all parts so that there is no need to exclude the 1300 Chassis system from this year's event and maybe also in 2014. No regulation changes for this year. Again, this class will be raced as a team event with a one car, two drivers, three lanes per driver format. wwwace Posted May 16, 2013 Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2013 1/24 Formula LeMans The new Plafit 1/24 LeMans type Sports Car Class will make it's first appearance at this year's APC in form of a 1 hour team race event on Saturday afternoon. This format is based on the original 1:1 Formula LeMans car class which features all the same LMP type cars (one chassis-one body) using the ORECA FLM09 Sports Car. With this class the Plafit 1800SLPJ (SLP2) will be used with optional Carbon parts and Fox II Motor. The body kit is made from vacuum formed Lexan and includes most detail parts including the LED light set. The average weight of a completed body including body mounts is only 18 grams. This results in a very good car handling and will make this a very quick and nice to drive car class. At present new rules for this class are drafted which can be viewed here : https://picasaweb.google.com/100400793531523576905/2013Regulations124FormulaLeMans# For the 1/24 Formula LeMans 1 Hour Team Race at Xtremetrax, we will have six equal prepared race cars available. There will be 3 drivers per team racing two lanes each. Interested drivers will be selected from the race organizer. There are 18 drivers required. So, on your APC Entry Form you can indicate if you want to take part in this team race. There will be no entry fee for this event. The six FLM race cars might be available for sale after the event has finished. It is planned for the 2014 APC in Queensland on the Plafit Masters Track to have the 1/24 Formula LeMans Class competing in a longer team race (4 hours) within a day-night format. Would be interested to see if any of the new guys we introduced to Plafits through our recent Mini Z enduro are keen on competing in any classes. Still doing the last touch-up's to the body mould and we are also waiting for another shipment of Plafit SLP2 Chassis. After that the car and all it's accessories will be available. Yes, at the APC we will select and create six teams out off drivers who indicated their interest to race within the 1/24 FLM Team Race on the APC Entry Form. We will see how we go with the time schedule on Saturday afternoon as the aim is to have a 1 hour team event with these cars. Remember Chris,more detail more points for concourse. You'd want to be aiming for an 18 point car at least. Especially with the Porsche. However, as Shane already pointed out, as far as concourse is concerned it is very much recommended to present a good looking car with all necessary detail in this class. Just looking through my Porsche 917 photo archive, on some occasions this car raced with some sort of head light covers or taped-up head lights. Cheers Jerimiah83 You can use both materials but rubber would be the better choice as it is firm and can be used in thin stripes or sheets to create wing support mounts. I have found the RTR wheel that comes with the 1700C chassis is around 24.2mm but has a hollow in the middle. By the time they are ground true, you are on or below the 24mm in the rules. The Plafit 811715B-RTR have an overall diameter of 25.0mm and after measuring a few new sets of these I can confirm that they have the correct dimensions.
