dangermouse 95 Report post Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Working on the back straight. Hills are foam and plaster soaked chux clothes, plus some fly screen and newspaper coated in plaster clothes. Rocks are from rubber moulds. I have been busy processing some foam to cover the hills - will use a mix of static grass, ground foam and some small trees I have from my model railroad days. Having fun - figure once I get this mostly finished I can paint and tape as most of the other scenery I can reach from the front. Rocks aren't finished I am working on getting the shading right... dangermouse 95 Report post Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) triggy thanks my son asked me if I was doing some clouds - not sure how to make them look right..... I guess I can have a go and see what happens though in the 2 big photos the clean blue sky looks great cheers David Edited March 15, 2013 by dangermouse
digby 1 Report post Posted March 16, 2013 Looking Good , rather than clouds it may be easier work with a slightly stronger blue brushed randomly in the top third of the background. Enjoy St Pat's day. regards digby
triggy 8 Report post Posted March 16, 2013 DM, this was my first attempt at clouds. A bit of white paint then dry brush it out in swirls to look like a cloud and some light grey at the bottom to give it some depth. I got a bit carried away with my cloud painting here: could've done with a couple less, but I think they would add to the depth and feature of your background. 1 Quote * Avatar used with permission Normal people worry me

dangermouse 95 Report post Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) Good tip, thanks KK, I work in fits and spurts on things, I probably need to commit to finishing something before I start the next thing (nah! that will never work for me) after getting the basic outline of the clouds done I backed off them for a while, need to finish some of the painted rocks on the backdrop as well cheers David Edited March 31, 2013 by dangermouse

dangermouse 95 Report post Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) track is taped and wired up and running - (back straight is mostly done) I want to run it some before I do the foreground scenery as there may be some twisty bits that need modification.
