Great to see a new track in the greater Brisbane area. Gary had the surface prepared well , total grip from the first lap. Tight lane spacing , tight corners but surprisingly fast after you settled in. Will be intersting to race on , definately a drivers track. No time trial racing that's for sure. Passing moves planned 5 laps in advance. Compared to other tracks it seems refined or dainty ? in it's scale or proportion ....seems like it would be a corker of a 1/32 track also. ScaleAuto cars ran very well as did Mini-Z GpC cars. The Endouro boys will have a ball later this year.
A pleasure to drive.

had a punt around the new track on sunday. Its going to sort the men from the boys, consistency and race craft will be much more important that outright speed. Centre is very well presented as all things Gary does. Cant wait for some racing.

Lap times keep dropping at Birkdale ... Jan posted a 5.560 last week with his LMP. The track is fast but does'nt let you relax much especially thru "hammerhead" the corner at the end of the main straight. Its one of those sneaky corners that starts with a nice easy radius.. but then tightens up and flicks back the other way..
For the next few weeks Garry's opening the track Mondays for "test n tune" leading up to the opening 3 hour group C race on the 18th of March. At this stage a team from each of Brisbanes 3 main "Garage Tracks" are entering a with possible 4th team made up with the overflow of interested drivers. Rules are simple.. A minimun of 3 drivers per team, Fox motors, Mini Z group C bodies, and any chassis as long as it starts with 1mm clearance.
Keep you posted,
Kim

......and any chassis.......
Kim

I guess we need to be a little more specific.....

Any commercially available model car chassis WITHOUT REAR SUSPENSION MOTORBOXES and all up minimum weight of 160grams (as correctly pointed out by Jason and Kim in the following posts).

The fourth team spot has now been taken up and the boys are all looking forward to this inaugural event at Birkdale. Opening enduro's are the best way to introduce guys to a new track and allow everyone to learn it. This always aid race craft development which will help everyone to enjoy better racing once the regular racing kicks in on Garry's beautiful new track.

Cheers,

Jan

Jason, you are absolutely right....between you and Kim studying the rules in such detail, I will have to start reading them too.

Sorry for the confusion....my oversight indeed.

Birkdale's 3 hour opening race is only 10 days away... Tuesday 18th of March - race starts 7pm sharp.
Each of Brisbane's "Garage tracks" Nerangba, Ecurie Elite and Birkdale have entered teams and times are getting faster every week. Garry's got the 4 lane track working beautifully with a version of his very successful race programme thats normally used in commercial centres around Australia. Best of all with this programme you no longer have to enter footage after each bracket. Instead the programme times how long each car takes to complete its final lap at the end of the race. ( Bell lap feature ) That means no more entering lap footage after each bracket.. and at a 1000'th of a second timing i doubt there will ever be a dead heat!

Kim,

Thank you for putting this race together. It is going to be good for all of us to get some race practice and enjoy a team event with our mates.

I am sure Garry will also use this event to race test everything and fine tune it to his usual perfection.

Cheers,

Jan

Jan, you will be pleased to know the bell lap problem has been fixed. I found it helps to have the relays controlling the correct lane.
Cheers,

Paul, I'm sure there's always room for one more. Kim has been handling the organisation so perhaps he can enlighten us as to the teams entered.
Cheers,

Garry J

Hi Paul.. Come along for Monday night practise and we'll see if there are any other teams needing another driver. Its a very tight schedule to get 3 hours of racing so we've limited it to 4 teams with up to 4 drivers.

be good to catch up'

Regards,
Kim
