BMR 1 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 What are you attaching to at the top for lifting your track ? The shed trusses or are you making another frame to take the load . I had to reinforce my sheds framework to feel safe about lifting the track . I also got a nasty surprise when the winch started to bend the post it was attached to . 32coupe 20 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 I estimate the track to be about 300kg, so I am feeling pretty safe with just mounting the pulleys to the shed frame. I have lifted V8 engines off a single shed frame so the track will be a no brainer hanging from two. I am looking at mounting the boat winch in line with the pick up points, of which I will only have two, that way I only need two pulleys, "keep it simple, stupid". I have already lifted the track a little bit with a pair of ratchet straps, and it held the weight well. Quote A man without a woman is like a neck without a pain. 32coupe 20 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 Hey Steve If your stupid enough to walk under it when it's up in the air, it's your fault not mine :D And the only time you'll be in my shed is when the track is down and switched on anyway. Cheers Andrew Quote A man without a woman is like a neck without a pain.
Sports Racer 28 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Looking good. You really sure the winch will hold? Bet you're not game to park the rod under it. Edited July 12, 2012 by Sports Racer Quote May the downforce be with you.

32coupe 20 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 The winch works great, I had it up in the air for it's trial run, and it didn't even flinch at the load. I only have 2 pickup points, and I balance the track by hand as I lift it, that is the benefit of using a boat winch, it has very long cables to the controler. I will have to wait untill next school holidays to start landscaping as my kids want to do it "their way". I still need to get off my bum and install a decent timing system, I have access to as much computer gear as I need, so no excusses. Quote A man without a woman is like a neck without a pain. Sports Racer 28 Report post Posted August 2, 2012 What timing system are you going to use? If it's the same one as Way2fast make sure Steve W doesn't touch it, otherwise you'll have heaps of problems. Quote May the downforce be with you.

32coupe 20 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 OK, I got orginised and sorted out the timing, and I decided to spruce the sides up a bit with a few banners. As you can see I'm not big on detail, but hey it sure is a lot of fun. Quote A man without a woman is like a neck without a pain.
