Mohawkk
Hi Everyone, well the dog ate my last rally track and since it was my first build i have decided not to fix it. I'll just start again. It will be extendable, you can see in the pics that the slot goes straight off the table. It will loop back on its self so when it come time to extend it will be easy. I plan to have a couple of "special" features on this section, but i'll leave that for later. It is made to be portable and sits on a light weight frame. Here it is, slot routed and lifted to about where it will end up. Quote Love, Kai

Mohawkk
Thanks guys, Craig, I will do when its finished, Its still fairly light but need 2 guys to lift. DM yeah have seen it, maybe more levels on one of the extensions I should mention that the base is 900mm X 1800mm, with about 11m lane length. It will have a few types of paint for the differant sections. Ok some more pics for today, obviously still a far way from anywhere near being finished but i had to put the "special" feature to the test. I couldnt decide the best product for realistic water, So.... A Water crossing will make the following corners intresting Another special feature, The beginning of the bridge, Insperation from Garys track. Thanks for looking Edited April 9, 2012 by Mohawkk Quote Love, Kai

Mohawkk
Thanks Kop, there is a lot of inspiration on this site. speaking of inspiration,Embs I have got plenty off you and I am in the process of weathering the timber. We'll see how iot turns out. As for the proxy maybe, depends on how the track grows, might be better to tack this on as a stage of one of the other sydney rallys. Thanks Miveson, And just for you (and any other raid lovers) Cheers Quote Love, Kai

Mohawkk
Time for an update. Need opinions on the colouring of the rock face. I'm not sure about it.... I think its missing something..or it might be ok when i add some greenery. Any hints and tips you have for me is most welcome. (looking at you Embs ) It should be easy to re-paint, so its not that big a deal. And a little something on the side while waiting for paint to dry. Thanks for the idea gary Cheers Quote Love, Kai
Ember
Not sure what it is with the rocks, Kai. It's close, but not quite right. Too black? I think that might be the problem. All the other colours really good, sandy and creamy (at least they are in the photos) but then they've got a sooty blackness over the top. Did you use a straight black wash? Quote Computers. Mohawkk
No wash, I started with a black base and dry brushed all the colours... Any hints to fix it... or do i just keep dry brushing/ Quote Love, Kai
Ember
OK. That explains it. It is the dead black that's causing the issue. Or at least it is to me. For future reference, I wouldn't use black (but then I suppose I very rarely do anyway). Particularly as you've gone to the sandstone pinky creams. I'd start with a cool dark brown as the base if you're working from darkest to lightest. Something like raw umber. Not quite sure what to suggest to improve what's there. You could try brushing some of the mid tones into the dark areas to lighten them up a bit. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. Mohawkk
Cheers Embs, I started off with the black, then added raw umber and then the lighter colours. I will try filling in some more of the darker areas. Thanks That one was just for you miveson! Thanks Ben, Fully sick/ Quote Love, Kai
Ember
There's a large irony in me saying so, but I avoid true black. At least when painting anyway. It's just one of those things that has stuck with me from high school art class. I use a little bit on the odd occasion to darken a colour mix but that's about all. Mind you, the photos are probably making the black more pronounced than it really is. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. Mohawkk
So I have only just noticed that I have not posted a pic of the track completed... I will have to do that. Considering I have started building the next stage. This next stage has a bit of elevation And a tunnel! This post is just a tease so you will have to wait for pics :P Quote Love, Kai
