3 Months Till Ninco Digital Arrives

Recommended Posts

Now I was told that this system was going to allow you to "flick a switch" and use it as analog too. With the ability to change to lanes 2&3 and 3&4 I can probably run a four lane circuit for Analog and just set up some V8s for digital racing when I have friends..

..is that true?

Eno

A quick question. You have only mentioned before about the two boys driving on your previous track. Does this mean you will invite the preschoolers over to race digital?

Carnage.

Vinno - I'm going to invite everybody from the forum too!!! :P

I'm actually plannign to join up with the Scaley club here in victoria once I have had a chance to practice a bit & once I have a 'venue' to offer.. ;)

I want to have digital 'cause I love the idea of having to plan to get by people but I'm not willing to spend $2k to "convert" all my babies to digital.

I'm fairly certain there's enough guys here that would make having a set of cars to use for a bit of slap and giggle would be good.

Actually here's a thought I just had..

If you have four 1/32 lanes to play with and you place a number of 1/24th scale cars upon the track (8 thereof according to the latest Ninco blurb) would you have something extraordinarily fun or something simply awful??

three 1/24 fit in the space of four 1/32 by my reckoning.. need to suss out the lane changer but I think I have just found myself an Eno The Wonderdog way around the digital game.. :)

That sounds like a reason to follow Gref to wood. :P

Then you can help us work out how to incorporate digital into the wood :D

I know this is not what you want to hear ... but SCX digital will lend itself very well to a digital wood track.

I've run some experiments with these SCX cars and found a very simple solution to design and build a race cicuit or a street circuit out of wood with left hand and right corners that you can use to change directions. A bit like cops and robbers chasing each other thru the streets.

Sounds like fun, but I'm not ready to exploit this idea just yet. Cause I feel the SCX digital system will not be well followed by the majority of new or old slot car enthusiasts. Mainly because you can't retro-fit other brands to run on SCX tracks. And you have to buy the SCX digital track. What a shame! :P

I've just received a early release from NINCO regarding the N-Digital ... So go grab a napkin (to wipe up the droooool  ) and follow the links below ...

Its looks like the wait for N-digital is going to be worth while

Ndigital060203.jpg

Ndigital060203a.jpgNdigital060203b.jpg

Some of the special N-digital features ...

N-digital will operate with other brand tracks connected to the Ninco track.

Any car can be retro-fitted (chipped) to run on N-digital, and it will still run on Analogue.

No chassis mod's required when chipping!

Up to 8 cars on two lanes. The largest starting grid on any system !

Change lanes between lanes 2 and 3 on 4 a lane circuit. whooo hooo! :D

No accidental lane changing, even when you are right behind another car!

Remove only 3 track sections from the N-digital system, and you can run analogue again.

Pit lanes: Can be used with the fuel management system. Pull in and re-fuel !

7 different race modes on the Central digital power base. It displays time, laps, fastest lap, fuel etc etc. And shows results of all 8 racers.

A Race position control tower can be mounted anywhere around the circuit.

Controller with power, brake and lane change control.

Can it get any better than that?

[PS: hopefully they have ironed out any bugs before its released onto the market. Cause we cetainly don't want another fiasco like Sport digital !!!]

I have a major major reservation with the eight car thing though.. I haven't got eight friends..:lol::D

I do have a fine theory though.. V8 Supercars.. see there's an 8 in the name V8 Supercars.. and a full grid of supercars would be... su-purrrr-b..

I'm planning for the SCX track I'm building to go digital someday..

Well lads!! I'm all over this

If it turns out to be as good as it looks,my ssd stuff will all be up for sale and i will be kicking myself for having gone with my sentimental attachment to Scalextric!!

While I have been very much enjoying ssd,I get the feeling that Scaley are'nt too comitted to it..I don't see any signs of them steaming full on into developing it..actually they seem to be more interested in dumbing it down with the advent of the new 4 car powerbase  .

I'm suspecting that Scaley are displaying that old "British attitude" that has landed the British in big trouble so many times before...They tend to underestimate the power of the opposition... (the Americans in the 1770's, the Boers in the 1890's, the Turks in the first world war,the Germans in the Arhnem debacle).

Slot cars have just hit the digital age..Things are gonna be very different from now on and those that think they can rest on thier laurels and overpower the opposition simply because of thier name (brand recognition) may well learn a lesson or two about what happens in an in an industry when it goes digital.

I want to be able to graft a digital system into a routed circuit one day.

Hey - that Scaley sports world Analog product and the digital product will become one and the same should be taken as read. Be ready for excellent stuff to happen there guys.

Everyone wants it. Everyone needs it.

All the companies will take on a standard solution (I believe) so that they can cut costs and increase their car sales to all platforms again.

Ninco supposedly not needing one to alter the body indicates to me that there's no lighty thing happening.. and I have no idea how it's going to work.. unless they're going to have naff "cut" guideshoes..

..then again Scaley Sport World can apparently tell where you are using back EMF.. it's a digital product too you know that one.. SSW..

Best go now..

Well I am planning to graft digi into a routed track but just need to decide what to use

Come on ninco "Remove only 3 track sections from the N-digital system, and you can run analogue again"

Yeah right I bet that means change 3 peices for every lane change in the layout

How's that any different to scaly ???

Looks like if might be better but still not perfect

But 8 cars will look good on a 3 lane track

Keep it in the groove

Pete

Surely it means "put a chip in all the cars & yell at anyone that pesses a button' if that's the thing.

To not need a hole it's just a chip between the draggy things and the spinny thing then??

With this new Ninco Digital comming out soon, ( Which i feel would be the best )

to convert into a wooden track, but was thinking that you should be able to get a car to run from lane 1 and be able to change all the way through to lane 4. ?

Now i know by Routeing lanes through each lane is easy, But will the software be able to pick up the same carr fron the 4 lanes ...... Hmmm

Also Question on the amount of car's 8 for 2 lane.

Are they going to allow 16 for a 4 lane track ? ( would be Real Fun ) but somehow i'm guessing not huh >?

Cheers

The bases will only run eight cars rather than there being a limit on the number of cars per lane. There's a French (?) system about called "Davic" that will run 16 cars (I think) but as far as I know it hasn't been comercialised yet. Try Slotfire for more info (I think).

That's what they're saying with the lane changes Falcon - lane changes between lanes 2 & 3 to go with the 1-2 and 3-4 ones. I'd imagine you could put as many lanes as you liked if you took enough drugs while you thought of it. I'd personally like to set up 3 lanes.. I think 2 lanes would be too narrow, and four too wide to be able to hop about stupidly enough.

I'll be interested to see how it comes out.

With this new Ninco N-Digital Master Track System totals 12.80mt of track (2.44x1.22mt) with 3 controllers and 3 chips - but alas NO CARS

That's good - I have cars!

I think the idea is very much to provide it as an additional thing & having chips that can easily flollop into existing cars without messing about with holes (if that's true) is very very cool indeed.
