miveson
The #6 has decals as well..... I'll leave them off for now.... my decal skills aren't the best. miveson
I was lucky enough to pickup one of the Pioneer Sunoco re-stocks recently and the car does look superb - but it does have some problems which will become evident. I'll admit I am very disappointed with the tampo printing, it's not what I normally expect from Pioneer. - the lovely blue comes through any light tampos such as the yellow lines/writing and part of some of the white tampo. - the tyres seem to have a white substance on them that makes them look worn - You can't see it that well in the photos but the #15 number decals have the blue bleeding through from behind Aside from the tampo issues the car is gorgeous, there have been some comments on the brightness of the yellow but the colours appear to be spot on. Let's hope the tampo problems can be resolved for the next release. Quote Slot Car Photos V8 Tipping Competition
Ember
Unfortunately the move from Chinese production has meant training a full workforce in skills that have been lost to Britain for 50 odd years. I hope that the wrinkles are ironed out quickly. We have been trained to expect the very best from Pioneer releases. I'm sure we will get it again. I am looking forward to receiving mine so I can enjoy it in motion on the track. The stealth version has its own job to do in photos. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. miveson
Let's hope they are wrinkled out quickly as for me the tampo issues are a real deal breaker and cause disappointment from an otherwise excellent release. I'm not alone in the disappointment of the tampo printing - it's something that should have been addressed before release. I don't accept the "everyone is new at this" - it's a clear problem that will annoy anyone who buys this car and it has the potential to affect the reputation of Pioneer as a manufacturer. The problem for me and many other buyers will be determining if the next release has the similar problem - I'll be waiting until I see the next model in the flesh before making a decision about buying. Camber
Unfortunately the move from Chinese production has meant training a full workforce in skills that have been lost to Britain for 50 odd years. I like it... Makes the car look older. Like the signage is fading... I think it does make the car look older, but needs to have some grime and windshield bugs airbrushed onto it...like it just finished a race. That's what I would have done, "limited edition 200 cars" which would be these seconds with the "race end look". Could have made a killing. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure these cars would have been in pristine condition before the race and the model should emulate that. I'm with Mark, poor quality and should not have been released in that state....Chinese manufacture or not. - Cam Quote Hoo Roo

Pioneer
Difficult to know where to start! Miveson is not the first to publically voice some disappointment. Firstly, I do regret that some - and it is some - of these early models were not as sharp as I would have hoped and I am sorry if this is the case for you. Miveson's photos (always excellent) do give you the BIG picture and are certainly unflattering at that resolution and size. I'll have to admit that my choice of 'limit' samples (what can go and what should be junked) did not factor in extreme blow ups of faulty decals. If that was the case then all current production, I expect, would be junked. Generally speaking, my rule (currently) is "does it look OK to the naked eye at 300mm (12") distance"? Having said that, the smudge on the SUNOCO is a howler. What seems clear - and it has been very useful to see from the photos- is that the pad application needs some work. It looks like the yellow is going on too wet and is 'pooling' rather than staying smooth and even. I would estimate that I personally handle and check at least 80% of the product that is being produced right now. Maybe it is time for the Old Dog to be consigned to the back benches. For the record, this is the sum total of this model (P018) production so far that have escaped to market:- (rounded up numbers) 50 x Type 1 blue (very glossy but prone to fingermarking - clear coat just did not cure) (well over 250 were simply binned) 110 x Type 2 blue (a more dull finish, good shade but feedback was that folks preferred a 'shiny' car) (well over 200 of these were binned before printing because of contamination in the paint) 170 x Type 3 blue (a lighter, more shiny paint - same as Miveson's). This has obviously caused some problems with the ink against the paint. At least 60 have been binned that were considerably worst than Miveson's example. 320 in a new Type 4 paint (darker but glossy). These models will be out with dealers very soon. That completes the 650 run of this model. You do not require a calculator to realise that this adventure is getting very costly. Return on investment so far is eye-wateringly negative. Soon I have been be checking if the Soup Kitchen is still open. On a slightly more positive note, whilst I watch and learn from the respected views of Miveson and others, we do receive a considerable number of very positive comms from folks that are very happy with what they have received. Either they have been lucky or are suffering from poor eyesight. Whatever is the case, I can assure you that a continued good feedback from everyone is what is required. It can takes years to build a brand but only 5 minutes to sink it. Yours, Jules Edited November 9, 2013 by Pioneer
