Auckland

Orakei Raceway Round 5

orakei%20raceway.jpg

Lanes: 4

Length: 50ft

Power: Regulated power supply up to 40 amps continuous output. We run at 13v

Surface: is straight gloss enamel paint over hardboard.

Contacts: Copper tape.

Usual Hand controllers: Mainly Slot.it

Type: wood routed track with equal radius corners (we weren't told to make them progressive until we finished routing) set up on 3 tables in a modular format ie we can vary the track layout by re-arranging the tables or increasing the size by adding a additional table section.

Main straight is approx 10.5 ft long

Running Direction: Clockwise

Average lap on rubber is about 5.5

Track surface is still pretty pristine. We cover the track when not used.

In terms of what rubber tyres work on it- Ortmanns, MJKs, even std scaley tyres and std fly rubber works but have found Ninco std and Procar tyres take a very long time to get up to decent optimum traction ie 100 laps plus . Haven't tried P3s or P6s on it, will test over Christmas.

Slot width is 2.6mm wide and depth is 4.67mm ie; won't take Slot.it wood guides and the slot.it after market grey and black screw held guides are a bit fat. Ninco pro-guides are fine as are the std guides that come with slot.it cars.

Lane width slightly wider than std Scalextric (about 82.5mm)

Timing: Lap timer software is Laptimer 2000 ver 6.0 for XP

Power Supply: ??

Running direction: Clockwise

HMMRC - Henderson Club Track Round 6 (may switch order with round 5)

Here is a pix of the HMMRC track. 13.5 volts, naturally good traction witl clean and trued tires even when the track is clean. The main straight is over 7m long.

New Plymouth

Green Acres Round 7

Bump. Henderson track details are up.

Waiting to see if we get another track confirmed for Christchurch.

Final Round will be back in Hawkes Bay, either at Munters OLD track, or Mikes track (The Black Widow), or - if possible, on Munter's new track if built, which would be a similar surface to his old track and to Mac's track where we'll hold Round 2. (Hi gloss enamel)

I can see we are going to have to have a chat with Gaylene, and request that she withdraw all domestic demands for "work detail" and withdraw feeding services until we see some satisfactory progress.........

  • 1 month later...

Hi guys, here is the provisional rounds schedule.

I worked it around our nationals, which tie up HB and some of the New Plymouth guys, and my likely trips away this year, plus our hosting of Tasman Cup in H.B. in May.

Charles, my thinking is that you can take the NZPR cars home with you at the end of the Nats, and I'll leave you with courier stickers for getting the cars down to Wazza in Christchurch. Are you okay for 2 rounds during April?

Wazza can then send them to Mike or Westy. By the time they get back to HB, I should be just about back home.

Hi Mark.

Did not realise we would be so early in series but with plenty of notice sure we can change our race programme.

Taking home after Nats seems l;ike sensible thing to do and cuts down on postage.

Will discuss with track owners and come back soon.

Regards
